I have no love for Ole Miss whatsoever but there are people on this site and friends of mine who love them a great deal so that’s cool for those guys. I’m obviously tremendously jealous but hey at least my team has mayonnaise to play for lol.

Hat tip to Golding for having his team ready to play and able to overcome some mistakes made in the first 60% of the game. Kudos especially to the Ole Miss DL, they got gashed on that first TD drive and I thought they may be in for a long night, but they honestly were great against the run otherwise.

Chambliss is a legend at this point. What an incredible performance.

Also that kicker is 100% getting randomly selected to pee in a cup on Monday.

Miami is a very interesting matchup. They’ve played incredible defense so far in the playoff. They’ve also had some offensive struggles and their QB and head coach have had their share of famously unreliable moments.

If OM can stop the run and make Beck beat them, they probably win. Miami should get stops but it’s hard to expect them to just totally shut down this OM offense.

If you made me call it tonight, we are headed toward an Ole Miss vs Indiana championship game which would be surreal on both sides of the equation.

That game was insane.  Big plays all night long and so physical.

The drive OM had when they went up 27-24, the plays that Chambliss made were plays you make when it’s not just your night, but your year.

That 3rd down play to get in FG range was a great call.  Kudos to the LSU coaching staff. The whole situation and plays and outcome is almost not real.  Lol

At any point of the game did Golding do anything that Kiffin would not have done  or vice versa?

Hard to know that answer. But Golding put his players in position to win and they made the plays.

I still give the Ole Miss players a ton of credit for not letting all the coaching drama affect their play on the field. In fact they seem to be playing better without Kiffin (motivation maybe?)

And from a pure football perspective, how can you not be for a player like Chambliss? What he has done is amazing.
I know Miami has a great defense but they have not faced a QB like him.
I think Ole Miss wins and hopefully Indiana and that would make a heck of a Championship game.

i think Lane might have used simmons in short yardage situations and I figure he would have gone for it on 4th down both times in the 1st quarter and not attempted the FG's and ended up losing the game.

Boom! I was hoping someone was going there. If that situation occurs and Kiffin was coaching, Ole Miss does not attempt a FG in those situations.

Kicking 50+ yard FG’s is a win for the offense even if it is only three points.
Georgia kicking short FG late last night was win for the defense.
Both were for three points but the perspective on them is totally different.
The two early long FG’s for Ole Miss were good momentum and scoring some points.

The last FG by Georgia gave OM a ton of momentum going into the last drive.

Early semifinal betting lines:

Indiana -4

Miami -3

I think of the 4 remaining teams, Miami is who I feel least confident in winning it all. The other three have dynamic as heck offenses.

Ole Miss has the worst defense of the four but perhaps the best offense.

I don't know 83, Miami has looked pretty dang good lately... as have all of the final 4 teams.

Indiana is the biggest story to me. They had more losses entering the 2025 season than every other FBS program... Northwester has more than Indiana after this season.

Between the open transfers and NIL, CFB has drastically changed... for the better IMO. Indiana is the poster child of "why not us?"

Ole Miss is a lesser example than Indiana, but still a strong example of "why not us?"

This was a "rebuilding year" for Ole Miss... pretty much everyone thought (including me) 8-4 or 9-3... depending on how quickly the team gelled and how quickly Simmons matured into the role. Had you told me Simmons would be hurt early and the backup (I couldn't have named Chambliss before the season) would play the remainder of the season... I would have guessed 6 or 7 wins max. Chambliss has to be the biggest surprise player in CFB this year.

On Simmons, he's entered the portal... best of luck to him. Great young man with a huge upside, I'll be rooting for him unless it's a game against Ole Miss.

Exactly.  They have even done it without big name portal guys and they recruit in the 35-40 range.  I don’t know how much they spent on this team, but I bet it wouldn’t be near what the others have.  That tells you how good of a coach Cignetti and his staff are.

OMs schedule was set up again for a great season, but I thought after Simmons was injured that was a big blow.  Chambliss has been insane.  For him to have the game he did after completing just one pass against UGA in the 4th of the first matchup.  Last night’s performance was legendary.

Well that was bad, worse and then worst.

Terrible injury to Taylor at the end but a very disappointing showing by State. Period.
WF is a better than average team but they basically dominated the LOS tonight.

Lebby & Co. have got a major job ahead building an OL/DL going into next season.

Imagine getting a Time Machine and going back to 2020 to tell people the 2025 National Championship would be Ole Miss vs Indiana

I remember when they played in the Outback Bowl 5 years ago and it was considered a major accomplishment for both teams at the time.

Sounds like State is maybe dodging a major bullet on Taylor and it’s not as bad as it looked live. It sounds maybe like a high ankle sprain which is no joke but shouldn’t jeopardize next season or anything.

You pretty much nailed it on the game though… State got pushed around on both sides by Wake Forest. Cannot happen. And if Lebby doesn’t get it fixed in this portal cycle, you’re probably looking at a coaching change in 10-11 months.

1-8 after a 4-0 start…. Last four losses all by at least two touchdowns. Pretty brutal end to the season for State. They looked improved in September and October and then kinda reverted to their 2024 selves in the last 4 games.

Miami only up 4 at half when they’ve totally dominated time of possession and been the more physical team. The door certainly still open for OM to come back in this one, but they will have to turn the tables a bit. It’s very much been a Miami style game through one half. Play slow and grind it out.

And they won by 4. If you are Ole Miss I don’t think you can ask any more of your players. They left it all on the field. Heartbreaking loss.
This was the opposite of bad game between two bad teams where one team loses and the other team does not lose the game.

One team won this game and the other team did not win this game.

Great game. Miami had a chance to be up by 2-3 scores and let OM hang around. But the Canes responded very well both times OM retook the lead.

Objectively a great college football game.

I am not sure Chambliss shouldn’t just declare for the draft. His stock may never be higher than it is right now, and this year’s QB class otherwise isn’t just amazing.

Kicked the two long field goals. Kiffin would have never done that.
