Bama and Georgia looked like an early 2010s matchup from a physicality standpoint. Despite the bad call, Georgia seemed to be the better team last night. Bet we'll get that game again this year. IMO the 2 best teams in the nation right now.

Was not expecting the wheels to fall off that quickly for Florida

Florida is about to go from #8 to likely 4 straight losses. They travel to Texas next week and have Georgia following a bye week

Ole Miss -9.5 @ Vandy: Won’t be surprised if this is close. The Louisville win and Florida loss haven’t aged well. I can’t pinpoint how good Ole Miss is yet. But, I believe OM’s concerning run defense is better suited for Vandy’s style. Offensively Ole Miss needs to find ways to reduce Kewan’s usage. He’s not Derrick Henry. He’s 5’11 205. Get the backup more involved, he’s not Kewan but he’s solid. Ole Miss wins a sloppy one 21-17 Georgia @ Bama(-2.5): Both teams are legit. Georgia isn’t going to bully Bama in the trenches like they did last year. Deboer & co have done a phenomenal job in evaluating the new guys they’ve brought in. Even if you stuff Bama’s run game, they have a Heisman QB with elite weapons, and a few more coming off the bench. I take Bama winning just off the offensive firepower alone 35-28 LSU -9.5 @ Kentucky: I think Kentucky is a good ball club. Sam Leavitt is already untrustworthy, and now he’s going on the road into a pumped up crowd. If there’s an upset this week, this would be it. I’m still going to take LSU to win, but Kentucky covers the spread. LSU 28-24 SC @ Florida -10.5: This game could get weird. You rarely ever see good teams with first year head coaches be consistent, as shown last week. Beamer is fighting for his life at this point. Florida OC Buster Faulkner will likely be playing against his first head coaching job next year. Florida 35-28 A&M @ Mizzou -4??????? Vegas is onto something. I wouldn’t touch this game with a 10 ft pole. I have Mizzou 28-14, but there may be some black magic here Tennessee -13.5 @ Arkansas: Blowout here. Tennessee rushes for 250+ and wins 42-14 Texas (-7.5) @ Oklahoma: This could be weird too. Muschamp has the best defense in the nation, and the Mateer led Sooners are pitiful offensively. Texas wins in a low scoring slugfest 14-7 Also, if you love football, get a peak of the Northwestern Wildcats. Chip Kelly ran the Wing-T against Penn State and rushed for 413. They also played Indiana tough. America’s team!

Mizzou matched up well against Florida and Austin Simmons had a career day. They’re probably a #14-22 rank by the time it’s all said and done. The B tier for the SEC is stacked this year, State, Mizzou, Florida, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee. Going to be a blood bath in the SEC. We may have 5 teams in the playoffs this year

Minnesota beating Michigan also helped us out. The Minnesota thrashing could age very well throughout the year. That was a good B10 team

Bama may not score under 40 this whole year. There was a lot of times Keelon and the receivers made a play, and you just gotta throw your hands up and say “nothing you can do there”

Inherently one of those “I’ve seen how this plays out” moments as a State fan when the lead was blown

I actually do agree that Lebby has had some tough, resilient teams. Even when we were bad I saw effort and intensity all 4 quarters. That’s something that can be the difference maker in close games when we’re competing amongst the best. I always look at Georgia when I think of teams that can handle adversity, they’re never out of a ballgame. We’re not far behind them in that aspect

Mizzou is certainly good enough to beat us. My concern is the hype we’ve generated probably has developed overconfidence by now. Guys like Saban and Kirby have a pessimistic temperament that killed complacency. I don’t just don’t see that in Lebby as of now. There’s always a good chance of hitting the “mount stupid” peak in the Dunning-Kruger chart when a recently bad team finally gets momentum going. But as you said, this game being a home helps us out substantially

I called for Florida to upset someone this year. Out of Ole Miss, Georgia, and Texas, Ole Miss coming off an emotional win into the swamp is 100% the safest pick out of those 3. But at the same time I never expect #6 to play anything other than flawless. I’ll take the underdog Rebs 21-20 in another classic Mizzou @ State. I just hope we’re not looking forward to Bama. I think we’re the better team and should win. Not having Ahmad Hardy, Mizzou is significantly handicapped this year. I’ll take the Dawgs 42-28 Texas @ Tennessee. Haven’t watched Tennessee this year. Texas will be more talented than everyone on their schedule this year by significant margin outside of OSU. I’ll take the horns 28-21 OU @ Georgia. OU has an offensive problem. The Mateer-Arbuckle experiment has not panned out. Meanwhile, Georgia is kicking people’s teeth in. I’ll take Georgia in a thrashing 30-7 Bama @ SC. SC typically gives Bama fits as of late. Bama takes a while to get going also. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Bama down by 2 TDs at half. But Keelon is an absolute nightmare to defend. Bama wins 42-34 in a tale of two halves Vandy @ Auburn. Despite losing, Auburns offense got clicking which seemed to be a concern against Baylor. I think this program will take small strides into ascension the next few years. Auburn 28 - Vandy 17 A&M @ LSU. Not calling an upset here. Lane will get better offensively now that he’s 3 games in with a new QB. LSU bounces back 35-17

Jon Sumrall spoke very highly of Will Hall after he took the Florida job. Also, UConn has been a solid program as of late

Ole Miss was America’s team tonight. Beating Georgia without Kiffin earlier this year and now this? What a time to be a rebel ran. Kamario had a rough start but it was expected for a young guy in a tough environment. We were already pretty thin at DT and Trevion’s injury looked season-ending. Happened last year to Whitson and his absence was definitely felt. Sucks to have that happen when the game was pretty much already over. Both teams are probably top 25. We may have a # next to our name tomorrow. Mizzou didn’t look great against Troy today, and they’re also without Ahmad Hardy so another very winnable game next week

I think every one still has PTSD from DeSean Jackson’s punt return. Even though it’s your best bet in that situation

LSU is the better team. But the difference lies in who’s commanding the offense. Trinidad wins games, Sam Leavitt loses games. I think Kiffin will win the chess match and OM’s OL should struggle. But because they have Kewan and Trinidad they can compensate for that. In a big game I’ll always roll with Trinidad, Rebels 35 - LSU 28 I think Gus Malzahn had a legacy game last year against Bama (as always against bama). Hate he retired I enjoyed watching his offenses through the years. Anyways, I got Bama rolling through the noles while establishing the run game 42-17 UF - Auburn. Said this about 2 weeks ago. I like both hires. Florida’s is in a much better spot from a roster standpoint and could upset someone this year. I’ll take Florida 21-17 This game for state really tells us how good this team is. Lebby’s vision is happening before our eyes. Nightmarish speed on the perimeter. A bowling ball coming down the middle in Fluff Bothwell. A QB that was built in a lab 30 minutes from Starkville. Our OL finally looks like a physically imposing MS State line that we’re used too. Obviously we’re not world beaters, but I thought last week was the best looking state team in years. SCAR has dudes and could match us in a track meet. I think this will be a shootout determined by which QB turns the ball over, I’ll take State 45-42

Let’s see how much this line changes the next 2.5 months

1. Clemson saw a lot of new things from Kiffin & Weis and were severely unprepared 2. Clemsons not a very good football team 3. Leavitt has always had a problem with trying to be a superhero and turning it over The Clemson game made LSU look like a force to be reckoned with. No doubt they’re talented with a top 5 roster. They’re still human though. Right now LSU is probably a td better than Ole Miss, but Leavitt can most definitely lose them that game Saturday

Minn with 13 total rushing yards. My optimism for this season has grown exponentially because of that single stat

In Minnesota’s defense, they probably have never seen this Wide Choice offense and can’t get a simulation of it in practice. SEC teams differ in the fact they have played Tennessee and State for a couple years so they’re more familiar with it

After watching that first drive defensively, we seem much more physical than I expected. We’ll see how that stands in the 4th quarter. 1m 40s drive for us, 10 min drive them haha

10 years ago State was littered with stud homegrown defensive linemen. Now it’s our weakness. Stylistically we don’t match up well with Minnesota defensively unless Arnett has some secret sauce

I’ve been thinking since the egg bowl game last year that Kamario is the most talented Wide Choice (Vear & Shoot) QB that we’ve ever seen in cfb. The big thing for him is staying healthy this year. He’s pretty slippery and doesn’t take big hits though, a lot like Lamar Jackson in that regard

Ole Miss has a tough outing to open with. I’m a big Jeff Brohm guy and think Louisville will be in ACC contention as long as he is there. If there wasn’t such a talent disparity, I would take Louisville to win right here. But Pete somehow managed to bring back IMO the best QB and maybe the best RB in the nation. That alone gets him above .500 this year. I really like Joe Judge, Frank Wilson, and Baker. This will more than likely still be a top 20 offense. The big question is defense. Pete wasn’t exactly the cream of the crop from a coordinator standpoint, but they still had great defenses in his time because of the recruiting. Have to imagine that won’t sustain now that Kiffin is gone. Not that Pete isn’t a great recruiter, but I don’t think they’ll be able to replicate the last few years of Kiffin’s tenure. I’ll take Ole Miss 21-17 No idea what to think of Clemson and LSU. SMU (-3) v Florida St. Both of these teams have some dudes. Norvell could be gone by November this year. FSU pulled a tough ACC slate and then have Bama + Florida OOC. FSU will be the biggest job open this season unless Norvell lights off a powder keg this year. I’ll take SMU 32-20 Auburn (-7.5) v Baylor. Byrum Brown may be the freakiest athlete in the SEC this year. The most violent QB I’ve ever seen. Really looking forward to week 3 with Auburn vs Florida. Floridas probably in a better spot right now because of the roster they were able to bring back. I like both hires from each team, and the staff Sumrall brought in. Golesh is going to need a little more time to turn his program around than UF. UF has the ability to upset some folks this year. But back to this game, I’ll take Auburn in a close one vs DJ Lagway 17-14
