The Kiffins toured Gainesville schools yesterday and are looking at baton rouge schools today.  Carter has basically given Lane a week from today to inform him of his decision.  Lane is irked because several assistants have told him they do not want to go to florida with him.  I guess this means florida is choice A and LSU is choice B

I grew up with Pete’s wife. She is an Ole Miss graduate and has been an Ole Miss crazy for as long as I can remember her. As a married man I know happy wife happy life so I don’t see him going anywhere. I don’t see Joe Judge, Randall Joyner or Kevin Smith going anywhere. Charlie Weis Jr is up in the air. Chris Kiffin will def go. Wes Neighbors and John Garrison could quickly be replaced if they do.

If Kiffin were to leave….

Golding would be one of the leading candidates to take his place, I presume?

He’ll def be one of the leading candidates but I think if Kiffin leaves after the Egg Bowl and it gives Carter enough time to make a run at someone before all the coaches are swiped up, we’ll be at war with Auburn for Jon Sumrall.

Sidebar I had totally forgotten that former State player and former almost State head coach Joe Judge was at Ole Miss.

I hope John Cohen sends a Christmas gift to the New York Giants every year for saving his rear end on that one.

Rumor has it he’s the one that spotted Chambliss and got him here so he’s at least done one thing right here.

I haven’t been on as much this year, and I haven’t watched as much ball.  Based on absolutely nothing I don’t think Kiffin is leaving OM this year, but damn has this been weird.  I don’t read twitter for anything other than entertainment, but Kiffin to LSU because his son is getting an NIL deal from a high school school in Baton Rouge tops them all.

I have an Ole Miss friend who went off the deep end this afternoon about Kiffin and I kept saying just ignore social media and don’t pay any attention to it. She was so mad that she said I am ready for him to just go. I am tired of it.
And that seems to be the attitude of many of the Ole Miss faithful.

As 83 alluded we went through at State with Mullen. And it is aggravating to no end.

I really did not think he was going anywhere but if he does go it will be to LSU. Florida is a total joke these days.

Yeah I don’t really get the ultimatum thing either if that’s what it is. Kiffin feels like he holds all the chips.

Also, don’t really get the mentality of not wanting him to coach the playoff game if he decides to leave. It feels like folks are more worried about the hypothetical teams in 2026 and 2027 than the very real chance to advance deep in the playoffs and compete for a championship that exists presently. And as much good as Kiffin has done at Ole Miss, this is the first time it’s gotten to this level. Beyond just a good bowl game, a real chance to compete for a title.

Folks really want an interim coach to lead Ole Miss in their biggest stretch of games ever if Kiffin is leaving? I mean look if the guy leaves he leaves and you figure it out, but I’m not sure about doing anything to sabotage the very real opportunity that exists this season about a month from now.

It’s a bit of hubris to think this opportunity may come around again easily. Not just for the next guy but even if Kiffin stays. Having the kind of season Ole Miss is having is really hard, and a 9 game league schedule won’t make it any easier.

I just saw a clip of the show today.  It seemed kind of uncomfortable.  Of course when you’re being asked questions by McAfee and then can’t get a word in it is a little odd.

Still don’t know who the hell Theo Vonn is and haven’t really wanted to look it up.

Got his break on MTV’s The Real World and now a pretty big podcaster that goes around basically collecting SEC jerseys and SEC QB mom’s. He was pretty funny when he wasn’t as famous but now he’s kinda gotten stale and annoying.

Watched some of that Kiffin interview. Felt like mostly a nothing burger. Or a bit of damage control. Want to say I’d read that McAfee is also a Sexton client. If true, that all may have been arranged by Sexton himself to make Kiffin look a little more sympathetic.

He's just going thru the motions and thinks they all should just bow to him.  He's still irked because several of the assistant coaches have told him they won't go with him if he does leave.  I still deep down think he will do what is best for Knox and that mean staying in oxford for at least 2 more years and then its open season again

I’m kinda torn in the whole situation. Part of me wants him to come back because he’s a good coach. Good not great. The other part would like to have a coach who isn’t on X trolling a hour before games. Last year he was trolling Florida a hour before we lost to Kentucky. Or practicing for Georgia when it’s the WAZZOU week. If he’s gone I trust Carter to keep this ball rolling. We’re a program that’s got a top ten NIL collective and can pay a coach top dollar. This day and age Ole Miss can do the same with someone else if it’s the right guy. Kiffin has been given everything he could possibly want to succeed. So will the next guy.

We’re fighting over a guy who missed the playoffs with last year’s roster who had 8 guys drafted. Something that should’ve never happened. This year we caught lightning in a bottle with Lacy and Chambliss. If not for those two we’re a 7-5 team. Especially with our backend of the defense.

And yet he’s doing more with less this year. Yea he hasn’t won anything yet. But ask every single opponent’s coach who they’re worried about when they play Ole Miss. It’s Lane Kiffin. He’s the best play caller in the game and a heck of a recruiter. No doubt in my mind he’s gonna have 2 more rings on his fingers by the time he retires

I think multiple things can be true with this.

The next guy is 100% going to inherit a far better situation than what Kiffin inherited. It does feel like OM’s floor has been raised quite a bit in recent years. I’m not sold that they are now a 10 win a year program regardless of who the coach is, but I would think the bottoming out seasons you saw intermittently in the 2000’s and 2010’s are going to be a rarer thing.

On Kiffin…. Yeah he’s got some flaws. Yeah he’s frankly kind of a weird dude. The social media stuff makes him seem like a teenage girl at times. But man I’d have a hard time just shrugging off a guy leaving that’s about to pick up his 50th win since 2021 and assuming the next guy will be able to keep the train rolling.

Resources are excellent to have, but you’ve gotta have the right guy to be able to maximize them. If you don’t believe me, ask a Texas or LSU fan how excited they are to be playing in the Music City Bowl or the Liberty Bowl this December. In my opinion, Kiffin is a Top 5 to 10 coach in the country. That’s elite. And look, the next guy for OM may certainly be a good coach too! But the odds of him also being a Top 5 to 10 coach in the country do not seem high.

All that to say… I would think the best scenario for Ole Miss here is that Kiffin stays. It’s a risky game to play to assume this guy that’s your greatest coach in the modern era can be easily replaced. State fans and other fan bases in the league know that all too well based off personal experience.

He is the 5th highest paid coach in the SEC right now. And the very moments that Florida and LSU jobs came open,

His name was the absolute 1st one mentioned for both. If it was you, wouldn't that make you feel like you should at

least be in the top 3? I think he stays and this is nothing more than him getting the money (and recognition...).

Maybe not Kirby money because of the Natties, but certainly equal or above DeBoer and Sarkisian.

Those 2 haven't won anything either as HCs.
