Vott
Last night Hattiesburg played Jim Hill and won 43-0, but this is not going to be about the game itself. This is about the field and stadium that they are having to play in. North Jackson Field needs to be condemned. Even as an opponent it was embarrassing to have to play on a field where you had to avoid ant beds, divots in the ground, crooked sidelines and hashmarks. A press box that looked like a deer stand where coaches could not hook up their headsets because of no outlets in the pressbox. Even the HHS radio crew had to improvise to put their game on the air. I am not sure if its the JPS or the City of Jackson that is in charge of the upkeep of the field, but even if Jim Hill struggles in putting a good product on the field, they should be able to have a good product to play on. That half yard line marker was insane. They have a good field at Newell between Murrah & Bailey and it is far superior to that of the North Jackson Field, but they haven't played there since like 2017. They seriously need to reconsider opening Newell back up.
Rebel Bert
A city on the decline will give you more of this going forward. The game could have and should have been played over close to across the street from Provine which is much closer to Jim Hill and a shorter drive for Hattiesburg. Bailey Alternative High School no longer exist. Previous administration have not prioritized a safer and livable Capital City.

Merlin
Didn’t Hughes get a big makeover via some grants a couple years back? I thought all JPS schools were supposed to rotate between south Jackson and Hughes going forward as of a couple years ago. Maybe Jackson needs to seek funds to reopen Newell or renovate north Jackson. Looking at Google earth there seems to be plenty of room for a field next to Calloway. Football In MS
Veterans Memorial Stadium isn’t much better. When they hosted the MHSAA State Championships in December 2020, the field conditions were horrible (depressed areas of the field, poorly marked yardage, etc). There should be minimum standards for venues to prevent teams from having to play in stadiums that could be hazardous to players.
Rebel Bert
North Jackson Field should be home for Lanier and Callaway. Hughes Field home for Provine and Jim Hill. South Jackson Field is the home of Forest Hill. Murrah should alternate between North and Hughes. All I will say is the officials shouldn't have let the game be played until corrections were made to the lines.

Who wants to play home games at multiple places That has been an issue in Jackson for decades. Each school should have been built their own field/stadium. But they were cheap and did not do that. Newell Field back in the day was an excellent facility. Don’t know why it was closed but if it was updated it would be a better field to host High School games than what has been shown in this thread. ccbulldog
sounds like Jackson needs to consolidate down to 3 large high schools and build new stadium for each

choctawman
The North Jackson field is the old St. Joe school. It is their alternative school. Jackson Public Schools purchased the property when St. Joe moved to Madison.
