Moves

Larger schools have an advantage over smaller schools; if a player is trying to get recruited by colleges a coach from a larger school can make the swelling point that he would be better off at a larger school; larger schools also have more coaches and resources; and also the chance to play against better competition; also what coach is going to pass on a chance to make his team better if he can acquire some talented players.

So.  Don’t get butt hurt when a kid leaves your program and does it in a way that dots all the i’s and crosses the t’s, and then to lying to people to get false addresses and then lie to MHSAA in your report to get a kid ruled ineligible at new school (months after the move and prior approval btw).  Cause it may cost you or someone on your staff a job.

Also the kid formerly from stringer is approved, again, to play at west jones.

Hearing it's not going to matter in the next couple of years regardless. Word is the statue that didn't pass this year for transfers will likely pass soon. Will become an arms race.

On a side note. Apparently if you bring in the parent from Louisiana as an assistant coach/teacher's assistant you can get away with a little more.

I thought they had to be certified staff?

I did too but who knows with them. He's already been in trouble with the state twice. I'm sure they are going to say that "they moved"

They do in fact must be "licensed" by the Ms Dept of Ed. Not a custodian, or aide or etc. Therefore they had to legitimately MOVE to this area

Dad "moved" and mom still lives and works in LA. I have found it interesting that the handbook now says the move must be completed by July 1.

My understanding is they had to change terminology due to so many schools new schedules are not traditional by calendar of the old terms of "60 days prior"

Makes sense. I just went and reread it and it actually says first day of new school year when moving due to athletics. Although I'm not really sure how you prove someone moves purely for athletics.

Off topic but kinda on topic, couple weeks ago I saw a kid from MS post on X a “Thank you former school, but I’m taking my talents” to so and so school. All I could do is shake my head at what today has became.

Yeah I saw on Twitter a kid had a transfer graphic made for transferring to Meridian.

So you're tellin’ me Petal straight up walked into Hattiesburg, looked ‘em dead in the eye, and said, ‘We’re takin’ your future quarterback, and there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it!’ — and that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!

Petal got a 10th grader that was 4th or 5th on the depth chart and was told he would be better at another position in this time in moment. Obviously that didnt sit well with him and he transfered... which is funny because he's in the same situation at petal.
