It certainly has. It has finally made its way to Mississippi and I hate to say it, but it is becoming an adapt or die situation. Everyone is trying to do it, with some obviously having more success than others.

I still place a lot of blame on  the lack of leadership in the MHSAA and lack of rule enforcement byt them. Even when cases are brought to them, it comes down to "who you know" up there. I feel safe in saying that everyone on this site knows of an example or two where kids live outside school attendance areas but still attend and play elsewhere.

The 1st time I ever heard of a player transferring or a player being "RECRUITED" was in 1997 when Robert Gillespie was tearing it up running the football at Oak Grove as a 9th and 10th grader. But this was before OG had become what they are now and he was all they had. So his junior and senior season he played at Hattiesburg.

Funny how this kinda started the trend of the back and forth between the schools in terms of players moving but all my Hattiesburg friends act like it’s something we started lol

It definitely did not go the way I thought it would go last Friday.  HHS run game is gonna be fine. What they are going to need this season is the same thing they had last season in the passing game and that is another big time WR to take the pressure off Keys. Barnett was a godsend for HHS last season. The QB was looking downfield for Keys almost every time he got the snap from center and Heidelberg knew it. That was the reason he was picked off 4 times in 1st half.

Davion Young RB/WR did not play he came to HHS to be a WR instead a Rb where he rushed over 1,300 yards last season. Kidd played and did good watch out for him. Omari Tristen Keys younger brother already getting offers. We have a lot of talent just have to use them effectively.

Hattiesburg athletes always are overrated. That’s just being honest. Hattiesburg and Holmes County always seem to have kids with multiple offers that never do anything beyond high school. They have good hype men that get their athletes attention. But the hype never matches the production. Keyes is a legit D1 prospect, but he’s not the #1 rated WR in the country. That will change this season, his rankings will drop.

Really? Well there are 3 former HHS players right now who are on active D1 rosters who have done quite well so far at UAB and Tulane respectively. Snoop Connor went to Ole Miss and did well enough to get drafted in the NFL. There is also quite a few who have done very well in JUCO the past few yrs but unfortunately didnt make it to the D1 level. But to say they never do anything beyond high school is false.

Speaking of former HHS players, what ever happened to Fabian Franklin? He was a stud and signed with TCU, but I do not think I ever saw him on any roster for football after he left HHS.

I think he may have went to Holmes or maybe East Central CC. Other than that I have no clue.

I tend to agree with you overall on that statement.

Look. I’m not bashing any kids. But I coached against Tristian Keyes younger brother in pee wee. If he’s already getting offers, that tells me all I need to know. That kid ain’t bad, don’t get me wrong. But Hattiesburg has some guys who are connected with others in the recruiting business, and I think a lot of their recruiting is just hype. There is no reason at all why Keyes little brother should be getting offers this early, and I don’t believe for one second those offers are legit.

I know of a 7th grader right now that’s posting “offers” that he’s getting from colleges. The kid didn’t even play junior high football last year. He played “travel” football instead, but yet he’s getting offers? He cannot really throw or even catch a football, but he’s getting offers? This stuff aint legit.

You are correct. Most is hype and BS. Then there's those "travel" and "7 on 7" gurus that take money from kids and build egos

smoke and mirrors from recruiters.  If they are after Tristan, and multiple schools trying to out bid each other with NIL for him, they could “offer” younger bro in an effort to earn favor with Tristan and the family.  Then the school that gets him will take away the offer after they have had Tristan a few years and little bro has either proven unworthy or Tristan leaves via portal or draft.
