You have to run right at him or get two or three people to try to block him. Throwing it will be a problem because he's coming. Both teams are very talented, it will be close. I think Ocean Springs and MC are evenly matched, could go either way! Let me say this: Ocean Spring's coach who went to Gulfport got outcoached last year against Brandon. Here's the reason why I say this!! How do you not get the most dynamic player in 6A out of the pocket to run? Option or something? Starkville's Trey Petty had more yards than Hubbard.....Ocean Springs gave up a 21-7 lead, when they deliberately did not double cover Lester Miller "corner getting burnt 1-on-1" "Ok I'm done with that spat"..lol But I think MC lost to much, I just saw them this past Friday get beat by Pearl. Pearl has taken some steps forward, but if MC beat Ocean Springs "Pearl is going places this year" with still a very young team. The QB is a Sophomore and runs a 4.5 gives me JRP vibes and Mcnair runs a 4.4... Yes Kingi Mcnair's(Pelahatchie) son---- cousin of Steve Mcnair Well, just so everyone is clear, Picayune has more than Waller on Defense. Tyson (#29) the LB may be the best player on defense and that's saying something. They'll also throw Chris Davis in the secondary. They have 2 Dandy Dozens for a reason and they're not the only players on that team. They return a ton of talent on that side of the ball and if Brandon is ready for a trainwreck every snap when they line up on defense then good for them because that's what it's going to be. This is an entirely different animal than the typical smashmouth team that you'd see. I also don't think Brandon fans should hang their hat on beating West Point in a jamboree considering Picayune has beaten them in the title game back to back years now. Picayune wins.

That’s the real test. Your best year ever is routine business for some of us. There you go moving the goalposts again. The aim is to win every game. We did that last postseason against your fine team in a game that was literally not as close as the score might indicate. Should your team be improved this year and beat us in the playoffs, then and only then can you make the claim that you’re better than us. Don’t go back in history to avoid giving respect to teams who beat you. That’s cheap. Do better. Mr. Football is a homegrown kid whose grandfather was my high school principal. Shows that talent can be developed by our system. As for the coach that we “let go”, remember that he knew that Mr. Football would not be around to run his offense. I don’t blame him for taking the bag, but the manner in which he did it was not classy. We’ll be fine without him. Like our new coach said, “the only people in that locker room are people who want to be in that locker room”. Good luck to your team. Hope to see you soon. Dubaction
Moving what goalpost exactly? I’m always on point please believe me. Just like you can keep referencing last years playoff game (that I already gave props for months ago) I can reference the other 10 times we knocked OS springs around before that. Idk how long you’ve kept up with OS football but one south state appearance in forever doesn’t garner state wide respect. Not until you can show you can be consistent over a much longer period of time than this. I personally couldn’t care less if we play OS again this year. Hell I just watched what apparently is the best 7a coast football has to offer this year.

Hell I just watched what apparently is the best 7a coast football has to offer this year. Fact is, you are always on point. For years you’ve told me that Coast football ain’t on a par with the Pine Belt, so I took great pleasure when we were able to raise our game and beat one of the big boys. I thought that it was a sign of our growth as a program, and hoped that we had earned enough respect to not be grouped in as “one of those weak Coast teams”. Yet, you assumed that a team we scored 58 on last year was the best 7A Coast football has to offer this year. That’s disrespectful to our kids in my opinion, so I reacted. I’ve kept up with O.S. football since the 60s, and played on an undefeated team when Oak Grove was just a few houses outside Hattiesburg. We’re just a couple of old guy’s running our mouths about teenagers playing a game. Respect my team when we beat you or when we lose. I think I got his goat at some point since last year’s game. Maybe we all did after finally being able to silence the noise that always comes from there. Not sure if I want to face their improved team if I don’t have to, but I ain’t saying that out loud. Never been much good at this trash talking, but I won’t let a team we beat trash talk my boys either. This is fun. edit: he can’t read this can he? ogwarriorbandman
Perhaps, I need to read again all these coast posts again but I don’t recall anyone saying that anyone on the coast in 7A will be better than Gulfport. Most, if not all state polls I have seen have Gulfport the best in their 7A region and several in the top 10. Someone please convince me that Gulfport is not picked to win 7A down there. I believe Gulfport will be top seed in their region. But, I don’t think they get far in the playoffs. Back to normal was my post and I am sticking to it. I’m trying to bow out of this discussion and anxious for some football finally, but here’s the MaxPrep poll just to put some perspective on where some people expect Ocean Springs to be compared to Gulfport. maroontide06
Well today is gameday! Woohoo! I hope everyone from Ocean Springs and Picayune has safe travels today. It's big boy football tonight, so buckle up your chin straps and get ready. These should be two great games that will be going on in the Metro Jackson Area. maroontide06
I'm just glad I won't have to watch this Picayune-Brandon game sitting on my M38A1 gas tank because sparks are going to be flying tonight LOL!

This Brandon group is just different, so expect some things that you won’t see from others. Smash mouth ball from both sides. Whoever is ready for this season to start will have the edge. Have a safe trip, and good luck on the field. If you have any good players looking for playing time, send over to us in Madison. We've got work to do and we look forward to getting started. I think y'all will go up there to Madison Central and give your best effort. I think it's going to be two slobberknocker type ballgames up there. I would love for both coast teams to go up there and get a win tonight, but regardless of that there won't be anybody getting bullied and pushed around like a ragdoll. I think you are going to see two coast teams go up there and play this football game like it's their last.

At this point, I’m happy to be in the same boat as the Tide, representing the Coast and trying to raise our profile and respect. Our talent is mostly on the defense, so if we can get at least a little scoring, I think we can hang. In Brandon, You will be surprised at the physical play of that big RB and how they go hurry up to keep your defense off of the line, especially on the goal line where they can go unbalanced line and snap it straight to him. I would expect a lot more points than most in your game. Good luck with your trip. See y’all in a few weeks. David
Madison Central wins in a slugfest on yet another last play field goal. Cograts to the Jags. Interesting coach’s decisions and flags.
