Probably not one that either coaching staff is thrilled with. But good win for State before they head off to the Frisco Tournament. I honestly thought all of the walks allowed by State's pitching staff was going to cost us the ballgame. Thankfully Southern couldn't get the 27 outs they needed. La Tech actually took the lead 5-4 in the top of the 7th but the game was called due to weather, so it went to the last completed inning. Seems it's consistent news that it's just a sprain and he'll play most of this season. Back to the La Tech game last night, they're pretty mad. La Tech's coach stated today he hopes La Tech never schedules Ole Miss to play again. Ell Oh Ell. IF La Tech wants to play that card, I'm fine with it. There are PLENTY of baseball programs to schedule... and definitely plenty of football programs to schedule. I stand by what I said last night, it sucked how it ended. I suspect Lane is hoping MSU has an opening soon and his comments help him land the HC job in Starkville. He refused to ever play them again after that. He has moved up the ranks of the college coaching ladder and as had success at NWST and now LA Tech. Thought they might be starting to turn the corner after winning the Arizona State series and surviving USM, but they’ve gotten humiliated by two not great teams in Frisco this weekend. Batting in baseball can be shut down by a good pitcher and bad fortune. But if you do the other two well, you still give yourself a chance to win. We have been a disaster where that is concerned.
