We’ll take being the best on the Coast and winning a couple of playoff games over our past nemesis, at least as a start. It felt like we were just as good as all of the other teams that won state championships. I personally thought a matchup with Picayune for King of the Coast would have been game of the year. There’s no way O.S. is going to be disappointed with the run we’re on, just hoping to keep it up in the next few seasons. We’ve seen the mountain top…. That said, Blake Pennock is a great coach. Regardless of the talent level, he has been able to get players to buy in and be sold out for his program(s). Yes, he has had really good talent as a HFC. He had the Allison kid at Pass who was a really great ball player along with some great senior skill players. At OS, he obviously had one of the all-time greats in Mississippi High School Football running his show along with other incredibly talented players but he was able to get those kids to buy into his program and it showed. Pennock I have heard is not a very well liked person as a whole due to his attitude and demeanor, but it is hard to argue with what he has done. He fit the OS attitude and culture perfectly. Bramlett seems like he does as well. The OS community got who many clamored they wanted. We will see how it goes. They are entitled for absolutely no reason. They have their own little coast rankings throughout the year because outside of Picayune they are relatively insignificant to the rest of the state. They trash people for no reason and praise people who have never won more than their garbage region. I’ll shut my mouth as soon as someone in that region at least makes it to the state championship. The whole Coast Rankings is just a guy with a FB page and a TWTR page, nothing official. It certainly doesn't hurt anything, builds discussion. I promise you all the players and coaches on the Coast are doing their best to achieve the same goal that every school in the state starts with and dreams of, yearly. Gulfport fans and Oak Grove fans commenting a lot on Ocean Springs news these days......maybe because Greyhounds have whipped them both recently? I hear there's PLENTY to worry about over in the Admiral facility. Oak Grove shouldn't concern themselves so much with a little coast team. Just let us coasties enjoy our small victories. Well except for that whipping OS had over OG this season. Region 3 loves bragging about dominating Region 4 when they usually just move on to lose against the north. I, we, had to take it whenever Oak Grove especially, and Brandon too knocked us out of the playoffs, and rightfully so. We haven’t gotten over the Brandon hump yet, even though this year there was only break or two or a flag separating them from us. OG has earned their bragging rights too, but I’m taking this year’s worth of credit and running with it. Now, Gulfport hasn’t any trash talking rights. I don’t blame them from trying to buy some wins, but that’s still under review until a late October date. Until then, this is our Coast. OG actually has a couple of state titles to be happy about but feel free to point and laugh at Brandon. And they’re 6-2 against OS in the playoffs since 2004. We’ll see if you can reload this fall.
