Water Valley hired from within, selecting assistant Clint Faust as its new head coach.

Obsessed. Your feelings obviously got hurt badly somewhere along the way.

So Oak Grove elevated its offensive coordinator of one year to head coach… https://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2015/08/16/little-change-causey-coach/31819143/

He’s being defensive with facts, because you are being very offensive without them. And you’re not a Gulfport fan, or you wouldn’t be attacking him. Gulfport offered him the moon, and he hasn’t taken it… yet. Pennock wants him more than anything, and may ultimately get him. He’s been the play caller for him the past four years, including Pass. The numbers, and the results, are crazy. He’s run his strength and conditioning program the last four years. The results, again, have been phenomenal. If the Athletic Director at Georgia had your attitude Kirby Smart would still be a coordinator.

Nope. Played at Desoto Central. Unless I’m mistaken, he lives in Coldwater and that’s where Santa will come down his chimney this year.

Hate to see this. Home of Trell Kimmons, the Coldwater Comet. Also home of the late Kamala, the Ugandan Giant, and current Atlanta Brave Austin Riley. I think…don’t know…they used to play some good basketball and baseball back in the day. Don’t recall ever hearing much about the football teams.

That’s just it…that’s the dumpster fire this is! There is no administrator at OS with authority to offer! No superintendent, no athletic director, nothing. Just a school board that has either created this mess, or at a minimum allowed it to happen. And also refused to offer the job to the OC who, because he is currently on staff, could have been hired without posting the job. Look at his numbers… they speak for themselves. Even the racehorse will tell you he wouldn’t have hit water if he had fallen out of a boat his sophomore year. Yet he threw, what, 30 TDs the next year. Look at Pass 4 years ago. QB went from limited success to throwing for 300 ypg and became 4A POY. David… you’ve been watching this guy for 3 yrs and don’t recognize that the top young offensive mind in the state shares a zip code with you? Watching the OS offense the past 3 years have been like watching a video game with bells and whistles going off all the time. Additionally, he’s the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. OS didnt even look like a 6A football team before he got here. Before the past couple of years, tell me the last time you saw OS push other teams around. No head coaching experience… get so tired of hearing that. Pennock only had one year experience when he was hired. Prior to coordinating the offense and S & C programs for Pennock the past 4 years, Bramlett cut his teeth under THE Marcus Boyles, coached under Boswell and Hart… those guys only have about 10 gold balls between them. If Pennock had left before this new board stumbled and bumbled its way into authority, rest assured the AD and Superintendent would have made the hire and this whole ordeal would have been but a hiccup on the continued journey to success… staff and players intact. Leave it to politics, vendettas, old scores to settle…whatever it is…and you have a top 5 program void not only of a head coach (happens… all the time) but completely void of an entire administration authorized to make a hire (the likes of which has never been seen before). At what point does one recognize something is rotten in the state of Denmark?

The speculation ends today.

If Gulfport hires Pennock, as coastfootballfanman alluded to in an earlier post, the dynamics in the highest classification of Mississippi football will change drastically, and quickly. Gulfport has all the necessary resources, including the athletes, to be elite. A Blake Pennock hire will put the football world on notice that Gulfport has made a commitment to excellence never seen before.

Hubbard will play special teams next year while learning the safety position. He will start 2-3 years and then, barring injury, go to the league.

Agree with you all on Irvin and Hubbard. And factually you are correct on how the selection went down. Don’t be surprised to see Coach double down and start his QB today.
