I’ve kinda cringed at Kiffin tweeting during these playoffs but it’s been kinda funny with how it’s really looked….

The country-“They really gotta do a better job at who they select next year.”

Danny Kanell on X enjoying himself right now saying “this must mean Michigan could’ve won the SEC.” Not sure how that can be true since Tennessee didn’t win the SEC but one thing this game does show me is you can lose to a mediocre team like Michigan but if given the opportunity with one of the best teams on paper anything can happen in the playoffs if your team clicks during those games. Ohio St was in regardless but had they lost a 3rd I still would’ve put them in just off the eye test.

the ohio state is a very good football team. Tennessee was a decent team this year and I know the record was good but I think overall that USCe, Bama & Ole Miss were better than them even if each team’s record was one game worse. 
 

The first round of the playoffs have been the biggest duds of the year. Maybe the next round of games will be more exciting and competitive.

They have indeed been duds, but I still have liked them far more than any bowl games and I much prefer this system. Blowouts or not. I watched every game yesterday and I would not have watched any bowl games that my team wasn’t playing in in recent years. The field just needs to be 16 teams and no byes.

And another thing, no neutral site games anywhere along the way except for the championship game. It’s the home field on college campuses that make it what it is.

No surprise, two double digit underdogs next round that had a 1st round bye.

A sixteen team playoff.

Seeded 1-16

4 P4 champions + highest rated G5 champion.

Other 11 teams at-large.

1st round on campus. 
Final 8 use the Peach, Sugar, Fiesta, Rose, Orange, Cotton Bowl games with geographical considerations in place. In other words the higher seeded teams would have an opportunity to play as close to home as possible. 
Championship game would rotate between ATL, MIA, PHX, DAL, LAX, NO. 
 

Additionally keep 10 of the remaining most historical bowl games for 20 deserving teams that are outside of the playoff. Sun, Gator, ReliaQuest, Liberty, Music City, Holiday, Las Vegas, Independence, Citrus, Alamo. Or some combination thereof. That way 36 teams get to play postseason football. The other twenty teams get the extra practice time plus the bowl reward. And if it is a young team, that bowl game can catapult you into the next season with some momentum (provided you can keep your players on the roster). 
 

Then we get a great playoff with some additional bowl games to wet our appetite throughout the Christmas Holidays. A win-win all the way around.

Only problem I see with that @Bulldogs4is you need to add Indianapolis and/or Detroit, Minnesota to your locations because you already know north followers will be upset that there’s no game up there and it’s a reasonable gripe.

Texas got outcoached in the latter part of the game I think.

Or they relaxed thinking they had the game in the bag. Credit them for getting back to back TD’s to not only not lose the game but to win the game. 
A CFP game that finally lived up to the hype.

The way the Rose Bowl is going in the first half, I'll go with Ohio State to win it all.

 

I thought Texas had a chance at about 6 minutes to run the clock and limit Arizona to one possession.  Threw three times. They were wearing them down, but gave them new energy with the pick.

Watching Ohio State and Tennessee looked like a 7a playing a 3a team. The talent disparity was just too much. Which is bizarre to say considering it’s Tennessee. Don’t see anyone beating this Ohio State team

If Ohio State has their crap together they are the best team this year. That said, Texas getting to play a semifinal in Dallas is a potentially large advantage for them. That game will be very interesting.

probably been said already, but Ohio State losing to Michigan and all the crap that came with it,

directed at Ryan Day and the whole team, will likely propel them to a National championship.

Yeah, I'll say that again also. It woke them up so it seems.

 

As for Georgia, that big ole o-line wasn't physical enough to make any space. They should have been able dominate a d-line they outweighed 50 pounds. With a new QB in, they should've have been able ground and pound their way to victory.
