Sumrall

This will be T'ville's 7th head coach since 2015.  I think Agee would be a good choice that would most likely be committed to stay there for a while.  But high expectations and low pay are not two things that go well together.  Plus the school district has spent a ton of money on an on campus baseball & softball complex, but the field house is the same one that was built in 1975.

The cupboard is way more bare than it usually is at Tville. Tville is lacking athletes and that’s not something they are used to. They had a few good ones left this year but nobody behind them. No depth whatsoever. Granger got about as much out of them as anybody else would have. Their schedule was brutal. I guarantee you it won’t be near as tough next season.

Yes. And I agree about Adrian. I think he would be the most likely to stay there. If they hire anybody else, the odds are they will leave again first chance they get.

Kelly applying for other jobs is alarming. He is the winningest coach in Caledonia history. With that being said, they did just move up to 5a welcoming them to a harder schedule

I used to go to church with Kelly when he was an assistant at Laurel then northeast jones.  Good dude.  Not surprised to see him wanting to come back south.

On a basketball team, being down 1 player changes 20% of your lineup. That’s significant especially if that person is a scorer who is removed with virtually no time for team practices without him. And let’s not forget we’re taking about high school kids. Not college athletes.

Sometimes it just takes the right situation for a coach to turn great.  I know Bo has won state championships as a coordinator and Chris was very young when he was at Richton so he has probably become a much better coach.  You can't really go off of the past all of the time.

just tired of people saying sumrall don’t have the athletes they have the athletes 

just need to be coached up and put more emphasis on their junior high programs in all sports for years sumrall has taken left overs from the county hopefully granger can do a good job he will have support

I've heard he turned down all the previous open positions before their interview process even started and is now in the process of turning down the few left open.

certain basketball players score points. like certain football players do.

remove a lineman, you or may or may not notice. remove the QB… whole new ballgame. same with basketball. you can still play as a team with lesser results because certain kids are removed & that has nothing to do with coaching. it’s about innate athlete skill level.

 

i’m genuinely sorry your grandbabies aren’t getting whatever opportunity you want for them and it’s making you an angry grandaddy. but please.

The coaches can coach a team to play together but when the parents and community are critical of every move because their child or grandchild isn't the star of the team it creates a problem within that child. Hard to be loyal to your family and team when they are pulling in opposite directions 

 

Also you are entitled to your opinion but if you are going to openly criticize coaches and teachers it would be good to at least half way communicate like an educated person.

Also, I once heard a player tell another parent at the fence, ' coach can teach me all he wants but when I get on the field in will do it my way.'
