If Louisville can throw the ball well then Poplarville will be in trouble.

Louisville has 3 very good receivers that has made plays all season. This is the 3rd year of the O-Line being together if you lucky enough to stop Louisvilles run game don't get caught sleeping on the passing attack as well!!

Without a doubt. They are battle tested

HHS hasn't won a state championship in 100 years. Literally.

Having 1 banner year really isn't being battle tested.

Have they had an outstanding year? Yes, of course. Nobody argues that. Vance and his kid have done a great job. And that can happen for any team once in a blue moon. The stars align, people stay healthy, you've got a great run in the regular season and good matchups in a playoff bracket and everything goes right. That's what is happening for them this year. And props to them.

But if you want to talk about year in & year out battle tested, that title will absolutely go to Grenada.

Not saying Grenada will pound Hattiesburg in Hattiesburg. But, saying Hattiesburg is "without a doubt" ready to beat Grenada would a stretch for me.

Grenada will have to have a plan in the secondary. It’s no secret that Hattiesburg is uber talented at WR. If Hattiesburg is short handed up front on defense then that could be a game changer because Grenada is a really physical football team and can really run the football. Grenada’s back McCaleb Taylor is grossly under rated in the state of MS. He has rushed for just shy of 2,500 yards and if he catches a seam good luck. You aren’t catching him.

If Hattiesburg is going to win the best thing they can do is get up early. I feel like if this game is tied or Grenada has a lead at half they will win because they will lean on Hattiesburg and wear them down. If however Grenada finds themselves playing from behind like they were against Oak Grove well that ain’t good….

Man make me believe. I want to . I would  eat two crows to see Grenada dismantle them in the second half. They  are not very liked. I think everyone would see some….stuff and leave it at that.

Are yall more athletic in person than on camera ?   And if you think last week was chippy Hattiesburg whole staff is like that not just the players. Hattiesburg receivers will be better than any player on the field against Neshoba or Warren C. They onside kick almost every time .  In the third quarter went for it on fourth and fifteen from their own thirty  they failed.

The thing you have in favor of you is their defense  looks to be falling off in the playoffs. Also their QB can be had . He’s not a quick decision maker. If he sees someone coming at him he freezes for a second. He was getting slung around like a rag doll  in Picayune until they started rolling him to that side and dragging the edge rusher down . They called them for holding twice I think then Vance and the homies went to work. That’s where the game turned

Yall got the coach to try and exploit that for sure but it didn’t look like that across the board players were there to do it.

Hattiesburg definitely has the better athletes. If Grenada can sustain drives and keep that offense on the sideline then I like our chances. Just looking down Hattiesburg schedule it looks to me like they have played a bunch of “spread” teams other than Picayune that dropped 30+ on them but I don’t keep up with ball in South MS much. I recall Hattiesburg having the same amount of hype in ‘17 and getting spanked by the physicality of West Point. Grenada is not ‘17 West Point but they are physical. Grenada is going to stay in 2 TE sets and run the football all night whether they have success or not.

And Grenada never won one at all but with that being said it really doesn't mean a thing come Saturday night.

1. I know small ball has been overlooked in this thread but I think the biggest underdog is Baldwyn over Simmons. Baldwyn will try to score against a team that’s only given up 52 points all season and held Velma Jackson to 0. Most, even myself, think this one will be over by halftime but that’s why the games are played. Anything can happen.

2. I think Grenada isn’t getting the respect it deserves from some and also 6A North in general. I remember in another thread someone saying Grenada and Warren Central would be 6th or 7th in the south but fail to realize Warren Central battled it out with Brandon in a 1 point loss and also went toe to toe with Madison Central. They weren’t a slouch of a team by any means and Grenada was able to wear them down in the 2H. Hattiesburg will have their hands full trying to stop Taylor. A lot of teams have tried and all have pretty much failed on his way to 2500 yards rushing. Cotton at WR isn’t a slouch either. He can use his 6’5 210 frame to go up and get the 50/50 balls and helps the offense be a little more balanced.

3. I almost picked Gautier over West Point because West Point’s offense just isn’t as good as in years past but man is their defense legit. That secondary is hard to pass against and front seven is very physical. Even with a less of an offense this year you’ll still find yourself in the 4th quarter and them wearing you down with the same offense they’ve always run and next thing you know they’ve stretched the lead out.

We’ve had good matchups in the playoffs the last two years and still lost so that carries no weight. Everything didn’t go right, it’s easy for someone who doesn’t watch them on a weekly basis to say. You clearly are biased towards Grenada and that’s fine.

Looking at it now I think your breakdown  overall is probably correct . Your defense has to hold long enough for the grind offense to open things up.

You have been pretty convincing on their chances of winning.  You have the best coach so that always gives you somewhat of a leg up. I hope he's got something not on film cooked up,

Simmons is a name everyone who watches the finals should recognize and that is correct that would be a huge upset.

No bias here. Just facts. Grenada was in the title game last year. Literally. They’ve got the recent championship level experience. 2024 is not a 1-off year for them.

If Grenada can get HHS on their heels and make them emotional, they’ll get in their feels and get all chippy and bowed up. Coaches included. That scenario does not end well for HHS.

I just had to catch myself. I’ve learned a few years ago. It was a game against Pascagoula to never put too much information on here or any at all. Cause there are coaches on here fishing for information. The information I had put out there they used verbatim. Never again. I won’t be commenting on the game anymore.

I think Grenada vs Hattiesburg, Tupelo vs. Brandon, and Heidelberg vs. Charleston are 3 games that

you could flip a coin for who wins. Biggest upset Poplarville over Louisville.

I was impressed with Grenada in last years CHIP. Well coached, disciplined, tough, and play very hard.

Hattiesburg will have their hands full with that bunch. I think for the tigers to win, they will need 4 or 5 explosive

plays on offense, and fortunately for them, they have Barnett and Keyes that can do just that.

But, I'm sure Grenada coaches know that too, and have been scheming hard to keep it from happening.

I would say that Grenada has played the more difficult schedule by far. I don't think there is an underdog in that game. I would say it's evenly matched. That or I would give the edge to Grenada because they've played tougher teams.

Names the teams that were tougher

While Hattiesburg was playing Sumrall, Laurel, and Biloxi. Lol

We have only been playing Laurel for the last 105 years. Biloxi is a 7a school who was coming off and 8-4 season the year before. If you wanna criticize the Sumrall game you can. But if I recall correctly Clinton went 1-9 in 2023.

How big an upset would Brandon over Tupelo be ?

Didnt Tupelo get caught using players they moved in or something earlier this season ?
why didn’t they get disqualified from postseason?

How would Brandon beating Tupelo be considered an upset?  Even if it would be, I don't think it's by much at all.

Yes because Grenada played real teams that also play tough schedules. Usually against 7A competition. Lol

Hattiesburg has a very talented team. But they also played a pretty weak schedule comparatively. I just think Grenada is the much more battle tested team. I have a feeling one of these teams is going to be much more physical than the other and the other is going to be heaving it deep repeatedly.

Baldwyn winning wasn’t an upset. Better team won. Simmons had no answer for Baldwyn’s front 7. They lived in the Blue Devil backfield all day.
