Hankins has to be done after this season. No way he gets another year.

He’s back but not eligible to play just yet. He should be back next week. George is playing with their 3rd string quarterback I believe.

It would not take you long to figure their signals out. They only run about 6 plays. LOL Much like Novocain, they always work though!

It just signals more to it than youth in my opinion. Wayne County has been young in the past and has not been beaten like they have against West Jones and Oak Grove. I would wager they have not been beaten down like that more than once in the last 25 years. It just is alarming as someone who has respected the program Wayne County has been over the last 2 decades at least.

I remember when he was touting how awesome d'Iberville was and that he was moving his boys there to play for Dolan and then like a week after he posted that Dolan left for Forrest County lol.

I feel like that has been the narrative since Hankins arrived though? It has been loaded with sophomore and juniors for the last 3 seasons and its been below standard results. By this point, I think it is becoming more about who is running the show than how "young" a team is. Young or not, Wayne County does not get beaten by anyone 41-7. To me it is not about them getting beat, it is how bad they are getting beat.

As long as there are no injuries on the defensive side of the ball, I do not see anyone beating Picayune moving forward. Heck, if we are being honest, they should not have lost to Catholic after seeing the video and still shots of the final play. I do believe the Ocean Springs defense will be up to the task of defending Picayune as the strength of their defense is their front 7 (probably the best south of Hattiesburg outside of Picayune honestly). Offensively, if Ocean Springs can make some throws and keep the Tide defense off balance they can have some success. Having a dynamic athlete at Quarterback is what would give Ocean Springs a real shot at beating them. Right now, they do not have that.

Hancock certainly looks improved. Jury is still out based on who they have played though. Natchez and Moss Point are not very good. St. Martin might honestly be the worst team in the state 4A-7A. Petal I am told is not very good this year either. They have Vancleave this week who I do not believe is very good so they probably win that in convincing fashion as well. They have Florence, West Harrison, George County and Pascagoula 4 straight weeks which in my opinion will tell the tale for them really. Hancock started out pretty solid last season and and fizzled at the end including a 28-0 loss at home versus Pascagoula who was the 7 seed in Region 4-6A last season. They are definitely improved but I do not know if I am ready to put them at the top of the pack in south 6A just yet, especially with Deuce Knight returning for George County.

I do not know if Ocean Springs has the fire power offensively to beat Picayune. I think it will be a really great game. I think Picayune wins in a 28-17 type of fashion.

I think Oak Grove takes this one in a 35-21 type of fashion.

Oak Grove is just on another level this year. Hattiesburg will play hard, they just will not be able to stymie Oak Grove much. Oak Grove takes this in a 42-14 type of game.

When a player transfers in from out of state, they are required to go through a "two week acclimatization period" no matter how many games they may have played previously for their other team. They are technically "eligible" they just have to sit through these next two weeks to acclimatize.

I agree on Gulfport as well. They have not beaten a competent team yet. I think Gulfport can hang around, but I do not see them beating MC.

I think Ocean Springs has a chance to win this thing. The defense is going to keep it close and the offense found itself last week. Obviously seeing Scotlandville I do not think they are very good but, good football teams dominate bad ones and that was what Ocean Springs did. I think the Ocean Springs offense continues to improve and wins this one in a 24-14 type of fashion. Madison is hard to get a read on. Played close with Ocean Springs coming down to the last few minutes but turned around and used a big 2nd quarter to handle what some saw as a favorite in 7A in Brandon. Gulfport has not beaten anyone overly impressive. They crushed Gautier who I was not very high on this year and Vancleave who I do not see being very good overall this year either. I think Madison is more battle tested at this point and wins it in a 28-17 type of fashion.

It is a similar situation in 7A south to me. There is you guys in Oak Grove, a nice gap and then everyone else. That does not mean you guys cannot be beaten, it just means in my opinion unless you guys drop the ball so to speak, nobody should beat you because you have great players and coaches mixed with lots of big game experience. Just because I do not see it the way you do, does not mean we cannot have a discussion.

I was told there is A LOT more to this story than we know. I was told neither player had planned to return but were forced to return due to some behind the scenes work from George County. Obviously could be he said/she said and completely false. That is just what my source up near Benndale told me.

East Central just does not have great athletes this year. They are going to play hard but they are not as good up front on the offensive line as they have been. Probably be a year or two before we see them get back to the level of competing they have the last 6-7 years.

Ehhhh. It is still Picayune, big gap, then everyone else in my opinion. Just another team to join the lottery of who is going to lose to Picayune Thanksgiving week. LOL.

I thought the same. I just wonder how the locker room will adjust. I am sure there are some not so great feelings from some of the players. Like another poster said, I am glad I am not James Ray and having to manage this situation.

They will most likely be back for the last non-region contest for the Rebels, Hattiesburg on September 29.

They transfer out just weeks before the season and now have moved back after the season has begun. Something does not smell right with this. I am curious how the MHSAA rules on something like this. I have never really seen it happen before I do not think.
