Well now that Deuce Knight has departed George County, I see them as a team possibly fighting for the playoffs. Rumors are more of their players are getting out as well. Not sure how true or what the real situation is, but George County definitely took a huge hit in terms of really challenging Picayune and other south 6A teams.

We absolutely are. It is going to turn into a situation similar to that of AAU. These trainers and coaches are going to get kick backs from schools to push kids to their program. I could also see some of these larger power house programs that recruit reaching out to broker deals to get those kids to move to their school because their state may allow NIL for high school players.

This NIL stuff is going to hurt high school football in our state. I do not believe our state allows high school players to profit off of NIL which will be a driving factor in some of these kids leaving in the future. These private trainers and 7 on 7 coaches are going to be driving these kids to places they can get NIL deals and all. It is going to turn into the wild wild west very fast I am afraid.

Well any chance George County had is pretty much gone I believe. 4 star quarterback Duece Knight is transferring to Limbscomb in Tennessee.

In all seriousness, I think it is cool for the kids to get a chance to play in DWS or VHS, but I hate how empty the stadium looks for those games. USM in my opinion is the best fit for everyone involved. I think Robinson-Hale in Clinton would be nice.

Well it is finally getting close to that time of year and my excitement is back! LOL. Summer time is usually pretty busy for me and the family. I like to cash in on my PTO and travel with the family. Finally settling back in this week. I am excited we are just a few weeks away from Friday night football

They return a good bit defensively I believe on the defensive line and line backers. Offense lost some weapons and the secondary as well but they are always going to be a hard nosed bunch that play hard. They won’t usually match up with athletes, but they are going to play tough. Very much an East Central or Vancleave type.

Region 4-7A I expect to be super competitive. Ocean Springs returns almost everything on defense and added senior safety Kristian Dillard from Gulfport who is coming over with his father. I expect them to be almost lights out defensively. Offensively there is some retooling with losing some receivers and one of the best high school football players I have seen. Gulfport will be tough. Pennock has put together a really solid staff and Gulfport does return a good bit on both sides of the ball, especially defense. Harrison Central lost a good bit offensively and on defense. I expect them to take a step back this year but will compete for a playoff spot. d'Iberville is a year older and more experienced. I do not believe they have the overall talent they have had in years past, but I believe they will be hard nosed and disciplined. Biloxi lost a ton defensively and some key players offensively. St. Martin is going to be BAD. I will surprised to see them win a game. Ty Smith has done a good job building a nice culture there, but they are not very good. I see the region playing out like so: Ocean Springs (you could flip them with Gulfport and I would not have issue with it) Gulfport d'Iberville Harrison Central Biloxi St. Martin

6A South in my opinion is basically Picayune, then West Jones, then Hattiesburg, George County, Pascagoula and Terry. I think Picayune is a lock for region 4 with George County and Pascagoula battling for second. I think Hancock and West Harrison will fight for 4th place. George County returns probably the most explosive skill group of anyone, but they are severely lacking on the lines and at linebacker. They looked up and down in their spring jamboree. You could see the big play potential but you could also see where they have major holes. They are a wild card for me. Pascagoula returns a pretty good amount from a team that was good enough to be in the playoffs last year. Make or break year for Sims in my opinion. I have always respected Lewis Sims so I would like to see him finish his career on a positive note. They have some D1 talent and experience on both sides coming back. West Harrison was probably the most competitive they have been in years from a record stand point, but anytime they played a team with a pulse, they were trounced. Hancock will be hard nosed and physical. They return the best quarterback in the region. I expect them to be the 4 seed in the region. Long Beach has a ways to go before I consider them to be a threat. I did see they are switching to the flexbone option. That may help them control the clock and compete. I see region 4-6A finishing out as follows: I think you could realistically swap Pascagoula and George County for 2-3 seeds, will be a big game at the end of the year for both of them. I see 4-5A as Laurel, Wayne County and then everyone else. I saw Gautier in the spring (my nephew plays for St. Martin - who will be AWFUL in their own right) and I just was not impressed with them at all. Losing their biggest difference maker in Alfred only further stunts them. They appeared to still be trying to run their Air Raid scheme with Kaden Irving's cousin and it just was not a good look in my opinion. He is not even in the same galaxy as Kaden when it comes to throwing the ball. He has a nice arm, but he is not as accurate at Kaden. Stone has a new head coach who comes from a mostly wing-T type of offense. I do not believe that fits the personnel Stone has coming back. I see them as a playoff team either way though. Vancleave has to replace their best players from last season. I think they will a tough and physical team with a chance to make playoffs. East Central is sort of in the same boat. They lose a good bit offensively and their best defensive players but they will be tough as nails as always. Laurel will be big, athletic and fast as always. Wayne County needs to fix their offense. The few times I got to see them, they just could not get the play when they need it. They had great athletes all over the field. Have to find a way to get them the ball. Defense should be pretty stout this year. If I had to pick today, I would say the region shakes out like this: - Disclaimer. Teams 3-6 could finish anywhere from 3-6 in my opinion. After seeing Gautier in their spring game, I was not very high on them at all. After hearing Alfred has left, I am even lower on them. He was pretty much their offense in the spring game I saw. Very inexperienced overall on offense. Defense should be solid enough to give them a chance in games, but replacing your entire offensive line, star quarterback, as well as your two best receiving options and running back. It is going to be an uphill battle I believe for them.

I was told that Eric Moore is in fact back at Ocean Springs High School. I was also told that backup Quarterback Connor White who transferred to Moss Point in the spring is also back at Ocean Springs. I heard their stud sophomore Quarterback was injured in the spring and they are looking at having him play WR. All hearsay at this point obviously.

I believe Seth was already in East Central building then by that point and had just had his 1st winning season I believe. Not sure if PRC made a push for him or not though.

What is average attendance for state championship games? I know it’s not a “sexy pick” but if they wanted to do it more centrally located to Jackson, Robinson-Hale in Clinton wouldn’t be a bad choice. I think it holds close to 10k. I agree USM is a much better option than State or Ole Miss if they are keeping it at one of the FBS stadiums.

The way it was explained to me is that the stadium was actually never officially named Dantzler stadium. It was called that due to the street name. It became Jerry Alexander Stadium 5-6 years ago I believe:

Pretty severe damage to the entire community in Moss Point from what I have seen on social media. Hopefully they are able to get things in order by the start of the season. Terrible, terrible situation right now.

Problem with George County is how much can the offensive and defensive lines improve? They were not good at all last year. Linebackers were average at best. Skill group was really, really good from what I saw, but they could not block very well and could not stop much. A year of maturity may be just what they needed however.

Matt Kubik who is the OC at Monroe was the OC at Columbia when they won state in 2021 so there is a connection. Chip has college level experience. It would not be far fetched that he could get a job as an analyst or in the player personnel department.

That is a really interesting questions. I would imagine it comes down to time of enrollment. If the player is enrolled BEFORE the coach comes over, I would imagine they should be eligible.
