  1. I was told by some folks up that way that he is getting one more year. He was told to hire an OC, keep that OC and let them do their job. If they suck next year he is done.
  2. Glenn will have more chance. He is gone after next year if no improvement and by improvement, I mean they probably need to make the playoffs.
  3. Me and some buddies were talking about the possibility of a new HFC for Mississippi and these were best names in my opinion of coaches State could get with HFC experience: Jamey Chadwell Curt Cignetti Rhett Lashlee Clay Helton Wildcards: Manny Diaz Dan Mullen (LOL)
  4. 5A is just down overall in the south this year and I do not believe it is because we went to 7 classes. I just believe overall talent is down right now compared to years past.
  5. Consolidation is long over due for a lot of the smaller, rural areas. If the state could get consolidation to happen, going back to 5A would be awesome. I think the parity has been good overall this year. People complaining about teams with losing records making the playoffs must not have been paying attention the last decade or more because that has happened quite frequently year in and year out in 2-4A. If they keep it 7A. I would like to see the top 24 be 7A. 32 teams for 6-4A. 40 in 3-2A. Divide 1A as evenly as possible. Consolidation needs to happen. Too many small population schools within a 20 minute drive of each other.
  6. How does adding an additional class put more strain on the referees? It is still the same number of teams playing essentially as it was under 6A or am I missing something? Your other points make sense. I have seen 2 different people mention going to 7 classes puts more stress on the ref situation but I do not see how as we did not add any teams so it should be the same number of teams/games to get covered.
  7. You do make a valid point. He may feel he can hold out for a “better” gig. Maybe State could throw enough money at him to convince him. LOL.
  8. Jamey Chadwell would be my pick. He has been successful. He runs a very fun offense that will draw in playmakers offensively. Parson fits his offense as well.
  9. I will be honest, having seen Gautier a few times this year, they look better with the backup at Quarterback than the other Irving.
  10. Consider my take on this game a big swing and a miss. LOL.
  11. It was a heck of a ballgame.. Two solid teams went at it.
  12. Laurel is about the only team in the region that has the athletes to play with Gautier. Gator defense is not bad at all and the offense is a big play offense that is capable of scoring from anywhere on the field at any time. Interesting stat for the Gators, they are 6-0 vs. teams with a losing record this season. Conversely, they are 0-3 vs. teams with a winning record. Laurel sits at 4-6 so numbers say the Gators should win. Obviously, Laurel is a different animal than some of the other teams they have played. Going into Laurel in winning is a TALL task that few have managed to do. I would not be shocked for this game to be repeated in a few weeks. I will take the home team in a great battle.
  13. I am glad you are confident. LOL. The way this team has played, I see it finishing 1-3 and 5-7 for the season which in my opinion should signal a change at Head Coach. Defense is not ranked in the top 50 and Offense is like 90th I believe. I felt Arnett's hire was an "interim" deal even from the start. If he did well, great. If not, then State can move on.
  14. It is a rule. They were caught breaking the rule regardless if everyone else is doing it (which they are. LOL). So they should be punished under that rule. Personally, I do not see it as a big deal because any program with a nice budget is doing it, but you cannot get caught. Sucks for Michigan and Harbaugh. Curious to see how NCAA dishes out punishment.
  15. Hattiesburg season paralleling last year it seems at least record wise. Some bumps early on but riding high in district play. Them and West Jones been feasting on a lot of cream puffs the last few weeks. Great test for both teams. Going to come down to what West Jones offense can do. I think Hattiesburg will get some points. They are too dynamic offensively to not score some. I think Hattiesburg wins a 21-7 type of game.
  16. I think they probably will beat anyone not named Ocean Springs honestly.
  17. I agree. Hattiesburg has the best combination of size, athleticism, and skill they have seen. Should be a classic.
  18. I can tell you as someone who has respected you guys program for the past 2+ decades, it is sad to see where it has fallen to this point. Since 2015, Wayne County has averaged about 6 wins a year. From 2000-2015 seasons, Wayne County had just THREE seasons where they did not win at LEAST 10 games. So there is definitely some correlation in coaching hires the success of the program. Hope you guys can right the ship Slick. I know it is tough to watch.
  19. I am going with Picayune in this one. 35-21 type of game. George is much improved from last year, but I just do not trust their offensive line to execute for them offensively and the defense will have to get after it. They have allowed some points in games I felt they should not have, but sometimes that is high school football. I am expecting a showdown with Pascagoula next week for the 2 seed in that region.
  20. Biloxi does not invest in football. The district does not view football as a priority and therefore it will never be as good as it could be. There are athletes walking the hall that would rather play basketball or baseball than football. French is doing the best he can with what he has, but I am not sure he is the right guy for the job. It is a tough gig overall. If they would commit the right resources and hire the right coach, they could turn it around.
  21. It will be a good one for sure. George has the weapons to take advantage of the Picayune secondary but can they protect long enough to give Knight time?
  22. I am expecting a war and plan to be there for it. I think the Hounds defense will be the difference. Ocean Springs wins 35-24
  23. They will let Seth finish it out but I do not see him getting to next year. You could see it in the second half, the players do not believe anymore.
  24. I agree. If we are not bowl eligible, I believe State need to start looking elsewhere. I do not believe he gets the job if the circumstances that took place for him to get hired do not happen. If he was to be let go, where do the Dawgs go? Established HFC with experience at a smaller conference school? Hot shot coordinator from a big time program?
