What do you mean when you say a solid offer from Bama? Like NIL wise?

He has been gone a few years now. Not sure where he landed -
Blake Pennock?! I kid. Well, sort of. LOL.
-
So it was a joke? I saw the post from On3 this morning and that is what made me post on here. If he did that as a joke, that is pretty bad.
-
Appears last night, Noreel White has de-committed from Ole Miss.
-
I would say he does since he is signing him now. LOL. Also, a decision like that I would wager is more on the head coach than anyone else on staff.
-
Yeah it was weird. He was committed to state for almost a year, then took an OV to OM the weekend before signing day. He flipped to OM and then was dropped by OM the night before signing day. Tried to go back to state, but they were full so he went to Memphis.
-
Was not impressed with OL selection either. Felt there was better players in Blackwell game than picked for this.
-
State definitely has a hole at RB! One he could fill!!! I would love for him to land there as well
-
Really perplexed by him leaving. He played some this year and I figured had a chance to carry a bigger load next year
-
I do not disagree with that sentiment.
-
Biggest question for him will be can he get the players to move in like he did with Pratville and Central Phenix. If he can get some talent in there, I think he could have success.
-
From my understanding, yes. Its was just a few states for a while but now pretty much everyone has unlimited scholarship or a really big amount allotted like 20+.
-
Mississippi JUCOs are going to struggle against out of state competition unless the state revisits the rule on out of state players. 90% of the NJCAA teams do not have a cap on out of state scholarships, and therefore are allowed to recruit pretty much nationally while our JUCOs here have only 8-9 I believe they can use for out of state players. This has allowed the rest of the country to catch up to us talent wise as well. We do not have the strangle hold on JUCO football that we did 5-10 years ago. Couple this with the NCAA doing away with ACT scores to qualify and this has hurt Mississippi JUCOs as we are no longer getting the big time talent that missed out because of grades. We are not getting a lot of those kids anymore.

Not bad at all. Seems like a solid coach. I am always weary of retirees from other states and how committed to building something they may be, but it is still a good hire I believe.
-
There is so much more to it than facilities. Coaches hired, their workload in the classrooms, the scheduling of athletes, the sharing (or lack thereof in some cases) of athletes, are all things that play roles in the equation. Talent retention - the coast is a few years away from being like a lot of the Jackson metro and Mobile area when it comes to recruiting other schools. Having nice facilities just means you there some money at it, there is more to it than that to be a successful high school program.
-
Jamey DuBose is the hire.
-
I agree 100%. I was told they set a hire bar and whiffed and are now on back up options and after that, it is barren. They should have kept French in my opinion. Unless the school/district is going to really go all in with football, I do not see anyone having anymore success than French has.
-
I am hearing they are holding out for 1 certain candidate, but after that it is not looking good.
-
Well it explains why Lewisburg and the majority of DeSoto county schools do not perform well in football. It is not a priority. Similar to many places here on the coast.
-
They hired the head Baseball coach to be the head football coach?

Just saw on Twitter, Chambliss is retiring at West Point -
I agree. Milner is not anywhere close to what it used to be. It is time to do something over there.
-
Well, as much as I hate to say it. Better get used to it because I highly doubt the MHSAA is going back to 6 or 5 classes ever.

I would imagine pay, or lack thereof coupled with not being in the PERS system makes it tough to attract someone long term.
