  1. You do make a valid point. He may feel he can hold out for a “better” gig. Maybe State could throw enough money at him to convince him. LOL.
  2. Jamey Chadwell would be my pick. He has been successful. He runs a very fun offense that will draw in playmakers offensively. Parson fits his offense as well.
  3. I will be honest, having seen Gautier a few times this year, they look better with the backup at Quarterback than the other Irving.
  4. Consider my take on this game a big swing and a miss. LOL.
  5. It was a heck of a ballgame.. Two solid teams went at it.
  6. Laurel is about the only team in the region that has the athletes to play with Gautier. Gator defense is not bad at all and the offense is a big play offense that is capable of scoring from anywhere on the field at any time. Interesting stat for the Gators, they are 6-0 vs. teams with a losing record this season. Conversely, they are 0-3 vs. teams with a winning record. Laurel sits at 4-6 so numbers say the Gators should win. Obviously, Laurel is a different animal than some of the other teams they have played. Going into Laurel in winning is a TALL task that few have managed to do. I would not be shocked for this game to be repeated in a few weeks. I will take the home team in a great battle.
  7. I am glad you are confident. LOL. The way this team has played, I see it finishing 1-3 and 5-7 for the season which in my opinion should signal a change at Head Coach. Defense is not ranked in the top 50 and Offense is like 90th I believe. I felt Arnett's hire was an "interim" deal even from the start. If he did well, great. If not, then State can move on.
  8. It is a rule. They were caught breaking the rule regardless if everyone else is doing it (which they are. LOL). So they should be punished under that rule. Personally, I do not see it as a big deal because any program with a nice budget is doing it, but you cannot get caught. Sucks for Michigan and Harbaugh. Curious to see how NCAA dishes out punishment.
  9. Hattiesburg season paralleling last year it seems at least record wise. Some bumps early on but riding high in district play. Them and West Jones been feasting on a lot of cream puffs the last few weeks. Great test for both teams. Going to come down to what West Jones offense can do. I think Hattiesburg will get some points. They are too dynamic offensively to not score some. I think Hattiesburg wins a 21-7 type of game.
  10. I think they probably will beat anyone not named Ocean Springs honestly.
  11. I agree. Hattiesburg has the best combination of size, athleticism, and skill they have seen. Should be a classic.
  12. I can tell you as someone who has respected you guys program for the past 2+ decades, it is sad to see where it has fallen to this point. Since 2015, Wayne County has averaged about 6 wins a year. From 2000-2015 seasons, Wayne County had just THREE seasons where they did not win at LEAST 10 games. So there is definitely some correlation in coaching hires the success of the program. Hope you guys can right the ship Slick. I know it is tough to watch.
  13. I am going with Picayune in this one. 35-21 type of game. George is much improved from last year, but I just do not trust their offensive line to execute for them offensively and the defense will have to get after it. They have allowed some points in games I felt they should not have, but sometimes that is high school football. I am expecting a showdown with Pascagoula next week for the 2 seed in that region.
  14. Biloxi does not invest in football. The district does not view football as a priority and therefore it will never be as good as it could be. There are athletes walking the hall that would rather play basketball or baseball than football. French is doing the best he can with what he has, but I am not sure he is the right guy for the job. It is a tough gig overall. If they would commit the right resources and hire the right coach, they could turn it around.
  15. It will be a good one for sure. George has the weapons to take advantage of the Picayune secondary but can they protect long enough to give Knight time?
  16. I am expecting a war and plan to be there for it. I think the Hounds defense will be the difference. Ocean Springs wins 35-24
  17. They will let Seth finish it out but I do not see him getting to next year. You could see it in the second half, the players do not believe anymore.
  18. I agree. If we are not bowl eligible, I believe State need to start looking elsewhere. I do not believe he gets the job if the circumstances that took place for him to get hired do not happen. If he was to be let go, where do the Dawgs go? Established HFC with experience at a smaller conference school? Hot shot coordinator from a big time program?
  19. I agree. It is tough and I think it is too early on Arnett. Now if by year 2 or 3 there is still the same issues, then yeah, look elsewhere. If I were a State fan, I would take Chadwell in a heartbeat. His offense is unique, fun to watch and adaptable based on personnel. He has been successful at a lot of places.
  20. Your last sentence hit the nail on the head. Which is why in my opinion, there is no excuse now to not be successful with being able to upgrade your roster significantly in a year. Hall has whiffed on transfers and some high school players and it is showing. This is his team with players that he and his staff brought in. I also think if they were 3-3 or 3-4 he would be fine. They have lost some close games they had chances in but still lost them. The overall view of the program is not good either. Looks disjointed and not together from the outside. It feels like Hall has officially lost the locker room and when that happens, it is hard to get it back.
  21. You are not wrong in your thinking. I just feel that being a Head Coach at the Division II level vs. the Division I FBS is a totally different animal and not everyone can handle making that transition. Like I said, there are internal, administration issues with money, funding, etc. that are hurting them, but the majority of it falls on Hall at the end of the day and he has not got it done. I know a lot folks want to see him succeed because he is a home state boy, but he has had 3 years and you could argue they are worse now than any point the last 4-6 years and with their remaining schedule, it will be hard to imagine them getting more than 1 win (ULM).
  22. There are deeper internal problems I believe, but at the end of the day, it is year 3 for Hall. Between recruiting high school and JUCO players, along with the transfer portal, there is zero excuse to be this bad. Player development appears to be piss poor and that is squarely on Hall and his staff. The offensive line has not improved in 3 years under 2 different OL coaches. Hall is supposed to be a quarterback guru and he bragged all off-season about the kids they brought in and how they fit his system and the quarterback play has been below average at best. Hall appears to be in over his head. Being a good "coach" does not always translate to being a good Head Coach either. I do not think most USM fans expect them to be world beaters, but to not even be competing for a shot at a Sun-Belt championship is bad. Hall just has not brought the exciting brand of football he promised when he got the job. Plain and simple. I know as a Tulane fan, I was not sad to see him go when he left us after 2020.
  23. 2 safeties this week instead of 1! I like it!
  24. Will Hall may not be the HFC for USM this time tomorrow. 26 yards of offense in 1st half I think I read.
