I would wager a pretty penny that this does not happen. The whole reason he left USA was to be more marketable for P5 programs as a DC at Alabama (obviously may not work out) but I doubt he would go. Surtain would be one to keep an eye on. Derrick Nix would be a good hire. A guy I heard some people mention was Marcus Woodson at Arkansas. Has been looking for a HFC opportunity. Outstanding recruiter. Been in the SEC and ACC. He is a Moss Point native so it would be coming home of sorts for him. There are some quality candidates out there for sure.

I have to disagree to an extent here. They have had a top 2-3 recruiting class in their conference the last few seasons. There is zero excuse for how bad they have been this year. His claim to fame was being a QB whisperer who could develop talent and I saw none of that over 4 years. Revolving door at quarterback. Offensive line play did not improve at all (even after getting some transfers and a new coach). Sure, they do not have a ton of money but you mean to tell me that a program like UL-Monroe can find a way to get it going but USM cannot? I believe Hall is a good guy, but I was not overly impressed with him as a coach. There is good reason why many Tulane fans were not sad when he left us. He did not inherit some dumpster fire of a program. They were coming off 3 bowl games in 5 seasons and a winning record 4 of the previous 5. I know a lot of folks have a soft spot for him because he is a Mississippi boy, but at the end of the day, he did not get it done at any level for the program.

Appears to pretty much be Brookhaven or Gautier from what I have seen.

Has not really been mentioned but USM loses again to fall to 1-5. Irony of it all is the fact ULM gashed them with true freshman RB Ahmad Hardy from Lawrence County. USM did not even offer/recruit him apparently. Hits keep coming for Hall it seems. Will be interesting to see if they make a move in-season, or wait until his contract expires at the end of the season.

I imagine Jim Hill will remain independent in football like they are now. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I would say for sure Pearl River moves to 4. If both Hancock and West Harrison were to move up, I would imagine Hattiesburg joins the region. They usually are the odd man out to join the coast region in those situations.

I honestly say just move forward with the young players you have and take your lumps. Let them learn to play together and grow them. If you go 2-10 with kids not playing, they will bolt. If they are playing, you have a chance to keep them.

Coast wise I am hearing West Harrison is expected to move up and Hancock possibly as well. I read in another thread there was talk of Meridian maybe going down to 6A as well.

Well to start, they attempted to bring in the Linebacker from Ocean Springs before last season as well as 3-4 Harrison Central players. After the young man from Ocean Springs was ruled to be ineligible had he stayed, the others did not make it over. They brought in a really good defensive back Tre'von Deans this year from Harrison Central I know for sure. To be honest, it is more to do with Pennock's reputation from his time at Ocean Springs when they were bringing in kids from different areas. Recruiting is wide spread along the coast now. St. Martin, d'Iberville, Gulfport, Ocean Springs, Biloxi, etc. are all teams with some form of a reputation for recruiting or "having players move in". Personally I do not have a problem with it. If a parent feels that program gives their child a chance to get to the next level, they should be allowed to do it. Legally. Meaning the family makes a bonafide move to the new community their child plays for.

George was once again without their starter and back up QB. Had the lead most of the game. Could not finish it.

I have not seen any footage from the game, but I imagine that is probably what they ended up doing.

I saw an interview after the game with George County Coach James Ray and he said Knight went out with a hamstring injury. The backup QB, Brenn Moody (who is a great Wide Receiver) came in and was also injured due to concussion. Their 3rd string quarterback (sophomore on JV) was apparently injured a few weeks back and was unavailable to play. So George played the majority of the contest with their 4th string quarterback. I would not read much into that score. If Deuce Knight plays the full game, they probably boat race Biloxi. Nevertheless, I expect Hattiesburg to roll big time in this one.

If State is going to be this bad, then I say be bad with the Freshmen. Go ahead and let them guys roll out there and play. If this team goes 2-10 and the great freshmen you signed do not step on the field, they are going to leave. At least if you got 2-10 and they are playing, you can sell them on helping turn things around and the fact they are playing right now. Probably an unpopular opinion, but after the way State has looked the last 2 weeks (especially on defense) I am half way embarrassed to say I root for them. LOL

PRC I would imagine moves into region 4. There has been talk about Meridian dropping with them losing numbers. Not sure how true. I know Lewisburg up north is typically close year in and year out. I highly doubt St. Martin drops though. I just cannot imagine them dropping that many kids. It all will come down to who drops if those move up.

I have been told it is almost a lock that West Harrison moves up to 7A. Heard Hancock has a chance as well to go up. Also told St. Martin is one to keep an eye on to potentially drop.

They count 9-11 but when looking at numbers from last year to give you an "ballpark" estimate, you have to include the 8th grade numbers from that year.

I still expect for them to be in the hunt with Gulfport. But from what I am hearing, Gulfport appears to have taken a step forward. Especially adding some transfers from Harrison Central.

My son is on JV squad for Ocean Springs so we were at the game. I will say Pascagoula did look improved from what I have seen. Ocean Springs looks like a team breaking in a ton of new people. It is definitely a step or two back defensively. I expected more from the offense, but breaking in a new quarterback and all, it may take some time to gel it all together. I think Ocean Springs will be a good team this year, but they may take some lumps. They could be 1-4 going into region play. Not because they are bad, but their schedule is so tough. Playing Madison, Oak Grove, Picayune and Northwest Rankin while breaking in a new crew on defense will be a tall task in the pre-region.

I know down here on the coast, Stanislaus has families that will cover the cost of tuition for a player moving in at times. There are many variables to getting a player to come to a private school. It is honestly not difficult at all for an athlete to move to a private school. Especially if they are an incredible talent.

“On paper” they are paying tuition, slick. Some private schools will let players like this families do a “work study” where they will come up and “clean” the school at night and work special events. Illegal or not, there are ways to circumvent the system.

It is definitely a baseball school and has been for quite some time. I have heard there has been a big influx of people moving that way and it will only continue to grow. With that growth, one has to expect the football program to become better in that regard. Will definitely be something to keep an eye on.

Is Deuce Vance going to be playing quarterback again? I had heard there was a move in that was slated to play quarterback but he has since left Hattiesburg from what I heard.
