  1. I do not hate to hear for this kid. My kids told me he was messaging several other high school coaches on the coast about playing for their programs. You can see his social media posts he is very much a "me" guy who wants attention. He does not appear to have much loyalty. If I was Harrison Central, I do not know if I would want him back.
  2. From what I was told, MHSAA rules prevent you from transferring out from your home school to another district, then transferring from there to another district and then trying to come back. The only school he could play at this season is his home school, which is Harrison Central.
  3. I would imagine Blackledge will have first dibs on the job. Been there a good while. Done a good job. I think Stockstill would be a good hire if they wanted him.
  4. Yes it is true from what I have been told. 3rd stringer transferred to Moss Point. Better move for him in the long run if he wanted to play. Probably was going to be 3rd stringer or back up at best based on what I was told. Interesting though because I believe Coach Feaster's son is a quarterback as well so I am not sure if the kid is walking into a situation in which he is the starter anyway.
  5. David, I condemn both. I said in an earlier post it is wrong what Pennock and Green are doing. The MHSAA NEEDS to step in! I hope OS calls them on it at the state office. This coming from an Admiral alum! My point is the fact that OS fans, not just you, but others on social media as well are acting as if they should be the biggest victims of all in the situation and I just view it as hypocritical. Sure, nobody has went to the MHSAA about it with OS, but that does not mean it is not happening and I know as connected as you are in the community, you have heard or know some of what has gone on. As far as kids transferring out, som coaches have the philosophy of the kid does not want to be here, then let him go. Which is probably the case and why nothing has been said on it at OS or any other school. I hope Pennock get burned on this. I hope it puts a target on him and the program because it is long past due for this behavior to be dealt with. You are a true fan and I know it is frustrating.
  6. Funny how you mask the blatant illegal recruiting tactics that OS has employed over the years as “if a parent moves their kid into another district because it’s better for their education”. That is where I have to draw the line. OS has broken the rules of illegally recruiting players. You can spin it how you want but anyone who is not a Greyhound die hard homer knows how hypocritical you are acting over this. Illegally recruiting players no matter how it happens is wrong. 6 months ago you would not have batted an eye, but now, with Pennock gone, OS people want to try and play victim. Give us a break man. I respect you as a poster on here, but you do not have leg to stand on in this situation given the dirty tactics Pennock AND current staff members on OS have employed over the last 3 year and Ross and company before that. You think Casey Cain wasn’t upset over having a player recruited away? Ocean Springs is getting a taste of its own medicine.
  7. I was told by a coaching friend that if this kid did withdraw from OS, he cannot go back. His only option to play this year, if this issue is pushed will be at Harrison Central. Where he began his career.
  8. Ahhhh I did not realize they changed from Mississippi to Mid-South. Reminds of the ole territory wrasslin’ days of the 70’s and 80’s!
  9. Rossville Christian is a program from Tennessee correct? I have always wondered why non-Mississippi teams are allowed to compete in the MAIS
  10. So the recruiting that your program has done for the past 3 years under him was okay, but him going to Gulfport and then coming after the OS kids is not? Both are wrong and illegal at the end of the day. David I understand why you are upset, but you cannot be naïve enough to think one is perfectly fine and the other is not. Coaches on your current staff have reached out to kids in Jackson county to recruit them to OS. You are okay with that? Because in my opinion, it is the same as what Pennock is doing except it is happening TO your program not FOR your program.
  11. I understand the frustration. The MHSAA should step in. This kid has been to 3 schools in 3 years. 2 of which he has transferred to the school Pennock was at. That is a huge red FLAG. However, unless coaches or admin pursue it, I do not see the MHSAA doing anything and if they do, you risk hurting the kid which might not be fair to him. He is a young kid being influenced by his HC and DC that he has build some level of trust and relationship with. Turning it in means he has to return to OS or Harrison Central and after his stunt he pulled with announcing his departure like a college player in the transfer portal, I cannot imagine the players and coaches at OS really wanting him back.
  12. I agree, there is a rule in place and the MHSAA needs to enforce it. The issue I have had is that many OS residents are acting like Pennock and Gulfport are horrible for going after OS players, but they literally were okay Pennock recruiting 6 months ago because he was doing it for them. It is who he is. It is what he does. Also have never been fond of him as a person the times I have been around him. I do not have much interest in this. I am not a OS lifer like you are so my perspective is vastly different I suppose.
  13. My daughter also told me kids on the team told her the player in question had been messaging coaches at other schools along the coast shopping himself around. So it sounds like he just enjoys the attention and spotlight on him.
  14. What he has been doing to get kids in there has been illegal from the jump, but because now he is taking from Ocean Springs, it is a dirty tactic. Coaches and community members on that staff have reached out to players all across the coast over the last 3 years to recruit them in. Sure, it looks like a legit move on paper, but we all know the reality. You cannot have your cake and eat it too, David. LOL
  15. The irony of Ocean Springs fans being upset that Pennock is recruiting their kids away from there when they literally have been doing the same thing over the past 3 years is comical to me.
  16. He was ahead of his time back in the late 80's but Shane Matthews was a guy that really impressed me as a 9-10 year old kid. Damarious Bilbo was another one that absolutely blew me away with his abilities. Modern era would probably be Jimmy Johns or Bray Hubbard in my opinion.
  17. Sean Bentz the current Assistant OL coach for Ocean Springs?
  18. I am hearing a coaching legend is possibly looking to come out of retirement and PRC has been in contact with him about the position. Could be nothing more than a little smoke but my source seems to think its possible.
  19. From what I saw, skill players were as talented as anyone around. Their line (mainly OL) struggled and that was a big detriment. Quarterback spent a lot of time running for his life. Defensive struggled early but appeared to get it together later in the year. They were young as a whole last season. I expect them to be 2nd or 3rd in Region 4-6A.
  20. It is open and posted on MHSAA site.
  21. Sure has been a lot of new accounts and posts about this job. Coach Bramlett, is that you? LOL
  22. I will say this. Great players and talent can make an average or even below average coach look good. That said, Blake Pennock is a great coach. Regardless of the talent level, he has been able to get players to buy in and be sold out for his program(s). Yes, he has had really good talent as a HFC. He had the Allison kid at Pass who was a really great ball player along with some great senior skill players. At OS, he obviously had one of the all-time greats in Mississippi High School Football running his show along with other incredibly talented players but he was able to get those kids to buy into his program and it showed. Pennock I have heard is not a very well liked person as a whole due to his attitude and demeanor, but it is hard to argue with what he has done. He fit the OS attitude and culture perfectly. Bramlett seems like he does as well. The OS community got who many clamored they wanted. We will see how it goes.
  23. From what I am hearing, the defense will be really, really strong. I believe my kids said there 7-8 starters coming back with some talent filling the void of those leaving. Offensively, they are losing their two best receivers, a few OL and Bray Hubbard. RB Will Smith will be returning and he is a very good player. However, he is coming off a season ending injury so no telling how he will be. They have a dynamic freshmen QB Sherroid Whitehead who is quick as a hiccup. He is not very big so that is concerning if they plan run him like they did Bray. There is also rising SR QB William Berglind. He is a good kid and has been in the system for a few years and has done well with the opportunities he has been given. Also rumors that John Jordan will be coming back out as well. He was freshmen team QB in 2021 and was a really nice player. It will be retooling of sorts in my opinion offensively, but I fully expect the defense to be one of the best in the state next year.
