North Forrest is playing pretty good right now. They looked good in the jamboree and they thumped enterprise Lincoln 39-0 last night

Coach Agee has those guys playing hard. Defensively they played very well, even a little better than I expected them too. Offensively, I have said for a while it’s going to be tough for them having to replace all their skill guys from last season. They lost every skill player who was a starter from last year, and a lot of those guys were 3 year starters. Their offensive line is good, but with so many of them having to play both ways they eventually wore down. I heard #9 went down with an injury in the 2nd half, I am praying it’s not a bad one and he is able to get back soon.

Tville played hard. Their starters are good. They just don’t have depth. If they avoid injuries they will do fine in 1A south. But they can’t afford any injuries.

Tville is not failing, but they aren’t real high either. The problem Tville has is teachers leaving in high numbers every year.

Junior high coaches are on the field, and they should be most of the time. Many of them are learning a new system at that time and it makes it way easier on the players and the coaches. Many even do it for JV games

Hopewell kids don’t have to go to Seminary. They can go anywhere in the county they want. Many of them choose to go to Seminary.

Yes. But about 3 years ago the school board was set to vote to consolidate MO and Collins but the parents from MO showed up and got it shut down. Now they are suffering even more

The people of Mount Olive fought it. Now their facilities are running down, and they haven’t had a junior high team in 2 out of the last 4 years. Collins isn’t the one struggling, Mount Olive is. And they were the ones who fought against it.

I have never understood why Forest and Scott Central don’t consolidate. There is no reason why Scott county should have two school districts. Mount Olive and Collins should have consolidated 3 years ago

I would imagine it will be your schools in counties that are underperforming academically

Man some of those were ok, and some others were way off… not sure what their criteria is for their rankings

West Lauderdale struggled against clarkdale in their jamboree I was told. If so, they ain’t beating seminary.

They have a 9th grader that played JV who was about 6 ft 4 and 300 pounds.

It’s fine for smaller schools to have players playing both ways. A lot of small schools have multiple players doing it. Where it hurts them is when they play schools that have a legit 2 deep defensive line.

The OL is good. They just aren’t deep. They can’t afford any injuries and with a lot of them going both ways that will make it tough. But they look really good across the front, especially for a 1A squad.

They looked pretty good. Their offensive line is a lot like North Forrest, very big and physical looking but didn’t always play as good as they looked. But it was really hot yesterday and you could tell they were getting winded. 3 of their offensive linemen were also starting on defense against Scott central. When they brought in the backups, there seemed to be a pretty big gap between the 1’s and the 2’s. They have two really good looking receivers in #9 and #1, although #1 was lined up as an H-back a lot yesterday. The QB was a little inaccurate at times, but at other times when he was accurate the wideouts dropped the ball. I’m pretty sure they had one first down, and the touchdown pass was a deep ball that was tipped by the DB and fell right into the Tville receivers hands. Defensively, they did really good. They got to the ball really good. Scott central tried to establish buck quite a bit in the wing-t but it never worked. They did have a few nice gains on some misdirection plays and the bootleg worked for them. They definitely had more yards and first downs than Tville but they killed themselves every drive with holding penalties. Tville made a big red zone stop to end the game. SC got the ball on the 5 yard line after a Tville fumble and Tville stopped them at the 1 on 4th down.

Speaking of Scott Central, they had 6 or 7 holding penalties in 2 quarters of play. One of them brought back a TD.

I thought SE won 8-6. But yes, it basically just serves as an opportunity for the players to hit somebody else other than their teammates and figure out what needs fixing before the first game. We were supposed to play a 2 quarter scrimmage against Forest but they backed out. Then we were supposed to play a 2 quarter scrimmage against Lumberton and they backed out and went to Magee instead. So that left us with an odd number of teams, so mize and Raleigh ended up having to play one quarter each against north Forrest. Tville and Scott central played 2 quarters.

In the spring, North Forrest defeated SE Lauderdale then lost to stringer. After stringer defeated North Forrest they then turned around and lost to SE Lauderdale. You learn very little from scrimmages. Especially when you only play for 1 quarter. The only thing we really learned is our offensive line has got to clean up their mistakes.
