Look. I’m not bashing any kids. But I coached against Tristian Keyes younger brother in pee wee. If he’s already getting offers, that tells me all I need to know. That kid ain’t bad, don’t get me wrong. But Hattiesburg has some guys who are connected with others in the recruiting business, and I think a lot of their recruiting is just hype. There is no reason at all why Keyes little brother should be getting offers this early, and I don’t believe for one second those offers are legit.

Hattiesburg athletes always are overrated. That’s just being honest. Hattiesburg and Holmes County always seem to have kids with multiple offers that never do anything beyond high school. They have good hype men that get their athletes attention. But the hype never matches the production. Keyes is a legit D1 prospect, but he’s not the #1 rated WR in the country. That will change this season, his rankings will drop.

#5 played for them yesterday. The biggest issue for Pisgah was their lack of size. They were pretty small across the board. They started out pretty good on the first couple series but every snap was high, and several went way behind the QB which killed all of their drives.

Yes they did struggle, they constantly snapped the ball over the QB’s head. There was no way possible for them to sustain any kind of drive. Loyd Star I think will have a season next year that almost mirrors last season. I think they were the 3rd best team there today behind Raleigh and Bay Springs. Stringer also looked pretty impressive, I think they could very well win their district this year.

Just finished the Loyd Star and Pisgah game, with LS winning 20-8. Pisgah didn’t look very impressive. They didn’t have much size and really didn’t have much athleticism either. But they played LS a lot tougher than I thought they would, and had it not been for several high snaps they could have won. Got to say, I expected alot more from Loyd Star. They must have lost more than I thought they did from last year. They only had maybe 30 players, maybe less than that. Two good backs and one really tough linemen but they struggled with Pisgah.

Good running teams can neutralize a high powered passing attack. If you can’t stop the run, and Hattiesburg couldn’t, then it’s gonna be a long night

I’m curious how collins looks this year. They lost their coach, and also lost two of their better starters to other schools.

Correct. And Heidelberg was the exact opposite. They returned most of the entire team from their championship team last season.

I didn’t watch the JV. Tville will need the JV to be improved because their lack of depth is what did them in last season

Hattiesburg does a lot of recruiting but their transfer talk was probably exaggerated. They won’t be near as good this year as they were last year. Heidelberg has the potential to be one of the best 2A teams ever

Just watched Tville’s two games. Wasn’t too bad. West Marion won 6-0, Raymond won 8-7. I agree Tville looked good defensively. Pretty quick to the ball. Offensively they looked a little sluggish, which is expected with alot of new faces out there. Couple bad snaps hampered some drives. Offensive line had good size, Trent Clark has really good size at WR.

So what’s been the results of the games at USM today? Heidelberg beat Hattiesburg last night 22-14. Heidelberg could be historically good this season in 2A, while Hattiesburg is going to be rebuilding I believe

JDC beats Mize 22-14. Mize got stopped on the 1 yard line with 10 seconds and had no timeouts, clock ran out. I feel if we had a timeout we most definitely end in a tie ballgame. JV ended in a 0-0 tie. I like what Mize was able to do offensively. We are changing up the offense this year, no longer running a double wing. We had one touchdown pass called back for holding, and had one really bad fumble on the option that led to a score. But overall the offense moved the ball extremely well. Those really were the only two mishaps the whole game offensively. Defense was missing a starting linebacker and we got some new faces on the defensive line, but I think they will be ok. Time to get ready for summer workouts. As for JDC, you could tell they returned most of their offensive line. Defensively I think they may struggle a little. But they run their system and they run it well.

Scott Central is running the wing-t against Lawrence county. Lawrence county traditionally is a wing-t team but I think they are changing their offense with their new coach

Enterprise will be very tough in 2A. They always are. Well coached, sound and fundamental.
