Philadelphia will have no place to go but to region 5. That will have to be the region that has 4 teams. Philly, Scott central, puckett, and pelahatchie

Mize, bay springs, enteprise, and Heidelberg can’t be in a 4 team region because that leaves only 4 teams in region 8. Mize will have to go to region 8.

I get wanting to have 5 teams in every region. But if allowing one region to have 6 while an other one has 4 would make it better for most of the teams, then they should allow that to happen. Region 7 needs to have 6 teams. If you don’t you are going to make travel for an entire region a headache and also at least one team in every other region headache, when it could have been avoided

That’s what we have been discussing. I don’t see how you are going to be able to do that in 2A South without it being a geographical disaster for some teams. You can make it work, but only if one region has 4 teams while another one has 6

I don’t see how they can keep 5 teams in every region because you have 6 teams in the southwest part of the state that are all close to each other but nowhere near anybody else…. Wilkinson Co., Amite Co., Enterprise Lincoln, Bogue Chitto, Loyd Star, and Wesson. Where else can you put any of those schools? Even if you put Wesson with Puckett, Pelahatchie, and Mize… who would be the 5th team? Scott Central? Wesson isn’t anywhere near any of those schools. Every single one of those schools is 60-90 minutes away from Wesson. There is nothing that makes any geographical sense with those 6 southwestern ms schools. You pretty much have no choice but to leave them all together in one region. And that means you end up with another region only having 4 teams. Unless you have 21 teams in the south and 19 in the north, which would leave one region up north with 4 teams instead.

I guess you could put Philadelphia and Kemper both in the south and then just have 19 teams in 2A north, with one of those north regions only having 4 teams.

That’s way too far of a drive for Wesson to every school.

The only other scenario I could see would be keeping Philadelphia in the north and moving Kemper to the south Region 5: Lake Scott central Puckett pelahatchie Region 6: Enterprise Clarke Bay Springs Heidelberg Newton Kemper County Region 7: Wesson enterprise Lincoln Loyd star Amite Wilkinson Bogue Chitto Region 8: Mize collins north Forrest Perry central east Marion

That’s a possibility, but man do you know how horrible that baseball region would be? Philadelphia, Bay Springs, Newton, and Heidelberg

Anybody want to take a shot at who they think ends up in each region? I have no clue who goes where in the north, someday else can do better than me there. In the south, I think a couple things make selecting new regions tricky. The biggest issue is in region 7, in the southwest part of the state. There are 6 teams there and there’s literally nowhere else you can put them that makes sense. So those 6 teams certainly will have to all be paired together. That means another district is gonna to only have teams, with all 4 guaranteed of making the playoffs. The other issue is Philadelphia. They will have to be in the south due to the north having so many teams. But no matter where you put them, it’s gonna cause at least one long drive for a region game.

Well moving Collins wouldn’t change that. The issue is with region 7. There is nowhere else you can put those teams. Those 6 teams will have to all be in one region. You can’t any of them anywhere else. Theres gonna have to be one region with 6 and another with 4.

That’s because yall have to. Collins isn’t in that predicament. Their furtherest drive they would have in the district I had them in would be 51 minutes to Perry central. That’s closer than Puckett or pelahatchie for them. I think the regions I drew out make the most sense, but the mhsaa doesn’t always use common sense

But it’s way too far from Scott central or Philadelphia. It’s almost 2 hours to Philadelphia

Man 2A south is gonna be kind of hard to district. There gonna have to be one region that’s just 4 teams
