  1. Biggersville also lost their coach didn’t they?
  2. Taylorsville was the better team last season. They were a veteran squad with several multi year starters. I think they had like 17 seniors. That’s a lot of seniors for any 1A school. The flip side of that is that they only had like 30 players, so that senior class was at least half of their entire roster. I don’t think stringer loses to Tville this year.
  3. What’s it looking like this year? Personally I think the south is a little stronger than the north overall but I think the best overall team could come from the north in Winona. I think Raleigh and Seminary will determine who comes from the south. Seminary to me personally is getting totally disrespected. They return most of their team from last season and yet many people have them ranked behind PCS. I know everybody is high on Winona right now, and I am too. They were already going to be really good and have added some good transfers over the summer. So they probably will be the favorite early on. But Raleigh is always strong defensively and knows how to pound the ball and control the clock. I think them and seminary both have a team that could beat them. My top 5 right now: Winona Raleigh Seminary Noxubee County PCS
  4. I don’t know why my first post said I have watched him play since flagrant football. It was supposed to say flag football, lol. But yea, I think Gordon will be a big key for them this season. Honestly I think they win their region and make a deep run.
  5. Their school enrollment may be dropping off, but their athletic rosters are not. They lost a lot of seniors from their defense but they return most of their offensive starters from last season, and they likely still have at least 40 or more on their roster. They will be the preseason #1 ranked team in 2A.
  6. I like Simmons, Stringer, and Nanih Waiya in the south. If Stringer can find a replacement for Campbell, they should be really solid. I’m assuming the young 10th grader Gordon will be who they plan to take over as their next guy. I have watched him play since flag football, and coached again him every year he played youth football. He was always a good back.
  7. Oh that is correct, region 7 and region 8 #1 seeds would both host in a tiebreaker situation for home field in the 3rd round.
  8. No. East Marion would face Heidelberg or Mize in round 3, but still have home field advantage in that scenario
  9. I think if Enterprise was in region 5 or region 7 they would make the playoffs.
  10. I agree. Either way they would have to get by the winner of region 6 in round 3, whether it’s Heidelberg or Mize. And regardless of who that is, that’s not gonna happen. It’s possible that Lake wouldn’t even make the playoffs if they were in region 6. Their entire region was swept in the first round last season.
  11. Lake will finish #2 in their region, but the only way they would make it to South state would mean they have to beat Mize or Heidelberg in round 3. And that ain’t happening, not even close. Heck we were beating Lake at halftime 42-0 in the first round last season. Lake may wouldn’t even make the playoffs if they were in region 6.

  13. You can tell these rankings shouldn’t be looked at as credible considering they don’t even know Calhoun city isn’t a 2A school
  14. I think Newton and Newton county schools, not just districts, are considering consolidating. Columbia tried to get east and west Marion to all consolidate with them a few years ago but west and east declined.
  15. Mount Olive has 15 total students in their entire upcoming 7th grade class. They only have 22 in the 8th grade class. I don’t know how much longer that school can make it.
  16. That’s nonsense. That’s the excuse these bigger schools use to recruit… “these kids just want exposure”. It’s not 1998 anymore. If a player is good, they will get exposure even if they play 1A ball. The internet has made the whole “exposure” talking point a myth.
  17. Possibly. They made a lot of really bad hires in administration for a few years and that’s set them way back. You can’t lose your school. Once the school goes, the town eventually goes too. And it’s almost impossible to ever restore it
  18. And? If it’s not such a big deal your school wouldn’t be using it as a recruiting tool
  19. Everybody knew Tristan Keys was gonna be the next big thing when he was in Pee Wee.
  20. Youth football in Mississippi has become an absolute circus with recruiting. It’s digusting what these “adults” are doing to a child’s game.
  21. There are some that you know will be studs. And yes they absolutely do recruit them. At Hattiesburg they even find houses for them at good prices to move to, and even try to find jobs for their parents. And there’s nothing illegal about that. As long as the player moves into the district, it’s fine. But there are some of those kids that move into the district initially, then eventually move back out of the district but keep going to school at Hattiesburg.
