There are more than just a "few" coaches who were in favor of it. If the Mhsaa wants to make more money, awesome, good for them, but it leveled the playing field. I would make some chances to the classifications of course, but I see the positives. I am a glass half full type of guy.

I would argue that it doesn't hurt the kids. One more group of kids will get a chance to earn a state championship ring this year. One more town will get to celebrate a team coming home after a victory. Having a 7th classifications doesn't hurt anything A lot of classifications do not have a true favorite. I think most people against it just don't like that there will not be a "classic" match up in some of the classifications this year. I would argue that is awesome. 1a Velma Jackson could win its 1st State Championship Could Vardaman play for State 2a Charleston, Calhoun, Union, Bay Springs, Raleigh, Scott Central, Mize, Heidelburg. Any of those could get to the finals 3a Winona 1st ever State Championship? Kemper Noxubee rematch in South Half 4a Who will play for it from the south 5a is wide open 6a West Jone Picayune South Half Grenada SP rematch 7a is wide open So so so many story lines. Will we have a Cinderella?

Wait what? Hey kids congrats on the state championship but we aren't getting you any rings because it really didn't mean anything. Also 5a and 6a are the most compelling to me.

Only solution needed: 1a doesn't need 8 regions. I personally love that anyone can win it in most classifications. 2a, 5a, 6a, and 7a are wide open in my opinion 1a should be Velma 3a should be Winona 4a should be Louisville

I guess misunderstood what he meant by that. I think they can get a great coach, but I don't think it will move the needle of anything major happening. I guess that is what I thought he meant. Like Clarkdale was going to cause movement and I would be absolutely shocked by that.

Brannan is a great coach. The rumor I have head and it may have been already established is that he is taking a big Admin job somewhere

1a north had the worst reclassification.

There may be a couple of good match ups in the North in the second and 3rd rounds. Choctaw Booneville could be a good game. Humphreys County and Independence could be good as well. Talent wise Winona and North Panola could be a game where several colleges coaches show up EW and Kossuth could be a dog fight.

I don't even know if they will even do that unless Charleston takes the game way to lightly.

Should be a cake walk to the North Half for them while the other side will be battle tested. Maybe Sebastopol can give them a game but highly unlikely.

Not to take anything away from that but that district is really bad.
