That was such a weird game. There was some kind of small storm that came through and apparently they didn’t have power on Friday so the game couldn’t get played and then they moved it to that Saturday at high noon and the only shade was underneath the stadium. I’m just thankful it was dark and cool under there but frying in the sun in late October isn’t any fun and the outcome of that game wasn’t any fun either. I’m kind of like you there Big Poppa, I would prefer not to play there again LOL!

I understand where you are coming from, but they are in the process of fixing that problem and things will get better there. They host Starkville Friday with a legitimate shot at beating them. I know they’ll have an extremely tall task next week when they travel to Tupelo and I don’t expect them to win that ballgame, but if they finish 4-3 in district play, they probably get in the playoffs.

Wait a minute there. The title of this thread says underachieving programs as in the current state of things, not what has or hasn’t happened in the past. Germantown is and will be just fine. Even though they lost to Madison Central Friday night, Russell has that program probably a little bit ahead of schedule. They will be much better next year I can assure you.

You don’t have to remind me about that Pascagoula game. The coolest place in that stadium is underneath it around the open island concession stand. I fried like some KFC original recipe in a pressure cooker.

Yes it confuses me too. Sorry for any confusion there. I know that the LOWER/HIGHER thing flip-flops every year. I do know that the north half teams will be the designated home teams for the state championship games this year since the south half teams were the designated home teams last year.

I think you might be right because all north half teams should be the designated home team this year in Hattiesburg. So for example, Region 3 #1 would host Region 4 #1 in the South State Championship Game.

The only other defense in Mississippi that you can argue is better than Picayune would be Tupelo and that's just because they've allowed fewer points. I think we've been longing to play a team like Gautier.

That's probably just a bunch of white noise. Our defense will be up to the task. They have played great this year and they will be able to stop the pass.

Dante definitely needs to rest this week. He had an ice wrap on his ankle after the game on Friday night. I think he will be close to 100% for Gautier if he sits out this week. We need to try to play all 3rd stringers Friday night as much as possible.

Yes they do. We've just got to keep our heads to the plow. I certainly don't want to have to play Gautier twice. If we have to, we have to but I certainly wouldn't prefer that. I just don't know if anyone in Region 3 can stop them. We can certainly beat them but they are where they are for a reason. That will be a great ballgame in two weeks. I'm just glad we won't have to go to Gautier for that game. We would have two opponents that night and not just one if it was an away game for us.

Maybe it will happen Dub, I would love for it to. But I’m the low man on the totem pole. It would make for some non-cupcake football that’s for sure.

Well I'm happy for Vicksburg. They haven't won a district championship in quite a while, so hopefully they'll take some pride in it.

Didn't Vicksburg clinch the 1 seed/district championship for Region 2? I'd like to see the Gators make some noise come playoff time.

You are absolutely correct Vott. We'll be itching for something to do come that Saturday. We'll have one of those goofy Thursday night games along with most of the rest of Mississippi. Now as far as this week goes, just treat the trip to Soso as a home game. We did that in 2019 and it worked like a champ. It honestly felt like Picayune was the home team that night and there was no denying that.

I think we will be the biggest Wayne County War Eagle fans this week. Go War Eagles and beat the crap out of the Tornadoes!

Who do y'all play this week Vott? Is it West Jones or someone else? We've got one of them gooey butter cakes this week. I wish we had a New York Strip though. That would be much better as far as nourishment is concerned LOL!
