For a team to have a historical 28% winning percentage, kudos to the coach at Clarkdale for not bending the knee and accepting the historical norm. I think this might be his first year, but here's proof that you don't need a whole bunch of time to turn something around. If he can get Clarkdale into the playoffs and win the first round then he has definitely done an outstanding job.

I don't get the whole uncertainty of if KJ is playing or not. Sam Pittman said he is traveling with the team, so that tells me he is playing. He may not be directly up front with it, but why does he need to be if you can read between the lines? If I was a betting man (which I'm not), then I would bet on him playing. Why would anyone in their right mind bet against that?

I'm curious, but what do you 3A folks think about Clarkdale? Are they on the Hostess diet or can they make some noise?

Well Neshoba Central has tried, but they have yet to follow through. I just don't see them following through. It's got to be someone from region 2 though because everyone else in region 1 isn't very much competition for West Point. Hopefully Neshoba can get hot and go on a tear come playoff time. If not, it'll be the same song.

I just don't see Ridgeland and Vicksburg stacking up too well with the Green Wave, but who knows honestly at this point. They just don't have a whole lot of competition in 5A north up there do they? Is there anyone else capable of getting to Hattiesburg from the North that isn't from the Point City?

So who's the favorite out the North? Is it still the Point City?

Well in that case a team (Picayune's opponent) needs to elect to receive first (win the coin toss) and then go down and score. It's that simple. If they do that Picayune will be trailing on the scoreboard.

Well we certainly didn't dominate Poplarville, Jefferson Davis County, or Gulfport. We didn't play clean ball those games and Poplarville and Jefferson Davis County made adjustments after halftime. Picayune has already had to grind it out in non-region play.

After Dodd left Hurley that foundation got covered up with storm debris, moss, and lichens, but Seth came in and cleaned all of that off. That foundation has been clear and has been built upon since that time. East Central will put up a fight, but so will the Tide. The Maroon Tide will roll on.

Dodd laid the foundation over in Hurley many moons ago and that foundation hasn't moved or left. If you're looking for some hope, just keep that in mind.

I was just looking at that. George County was 92-35 under Al Jones from 2001-2010, but since then they've struggled to find their footing. Hopefully they can get things turned around in Lucedale.

Class post there Hyatt22. Picayune certainly won’t overlook or take East Central lightly. East Central is currently undefeated for a reason. With that being said, this Maroon Tide football team certainly is one for the ages. That defense is something I’ve never seen before and it’s probably a little bit better than advertised. The offense though is just as powerful, maybe not as explosive as the 2019 offense, but they don’t need to be. It truly is a complete football team. If you make the drive over from Hurley have safe travels.

Vott, I’ve seen a couple of Jr. High games and at the ones I’ve seen. They kickoff to start the game and after scoring TD’s. Now they don’t kick the PAT but they go for two. I have no idea about punting though. They should just stick with the Dodd Lee mentality and just go for it.

Maybe I’m overlooking something, but I don’t see how getting 3 district wins will get them in the top 4 for a playoff spot. The only loss I see that they can afford at this point is to Picayune. They’re already in the hole at 0-2 in district play.

If George County loses to Vancleave on Friday then I think they will be on the outside looking in. That's definitely not where anyone had them before the season started, but I guess that's why you play the games. If they beat Vancleave their playoff hopes are still alive, but they have to hold serve against East Central.

Well they've already lost to Gautier, so it looks like they'll have to beat Vancleave, PRC, Long Beach, and East Central. They don't have any room for errors at this point.
