  1. I’m seeing Wayne County up 28-21 in OT, but I don’t know if that’s final.
  2. Ha! At least Picayune has a following LOL! Poplarville finally got that special kind of grass that stays green in the wintertime that you don’t have to mow.
  3. Well I personally don't have anything against PRC. Those kids up there deserve the chance to have a successful football team.
  4. I don't know if it still is, but it used to be West Jones. They did that Y'all vs. Us documentary on that game a few years back.
  5. Vott, don't worry about cinder block dude. He will be dealing with more than he can chew with Russell Mitchell at Germantown now. All I've got to say is Madison Central better get their licks in early because Gluckstadt, Mississippi, is about to be a giant thorn in their flesh LOL!
  6. Great response and thanks for replying. PRC might be biting off more than they can chew scheduling 6A opponents even if Hancock is a bad 6A school. The problem with that is PRC won't get any reprieve next year because they will be a definite lock for 6A.
  7. My goodness they've got two games at Milner. That thing is going to be a slopfest LOL!
  8. Grass is definitely the better playing surface regardless of weather condition, but there's a whole lot of schools in Mississippi that have poor grass fields. They don't have the proper drainage and they sometimes have massive bald spots where they put a bunch of sand to fill in the holes. I remember the last year we had grass at Picayune and how bad the field looked. We used to have this old school crown in the middle of the field so that the rain water would slope to drains near the track. Heck, I even remember when we had an old school clay track that was recessed with curbs and when it rained it turned into a pond. If a grass field has the proper drainage and irrigation, then there's no problem with them anytime of year, but that tends to be more of an exception and not the norm.
  9. Being a young football team isn't necessarily a deficiency. As long as those players are getting the proper coaching, which they probably are, then George County won't have anything to worry about. George County is always a tough battle regardless.
  10. Because common sense isn't common anymore. That's why.
  11. What I don't get is they have this nice historical stadium, but they won't turf the thing. Would they lose some sort of historical landmark status if they did that?
  12. The only thing that will be "turnin" is your field. Into mud! So the only thing I'm learning from this is that Laurel just expects to be a muddy swamp mess. I'm sure Ray Stadium is looking a whole lot better right about now.
  13. coastball I still want to get your input on the Hancock-PRC game. I think your score prediction in that one could be very well justified, but I would just like to channel your inner thoughts on that game. I honestly feel like if PRC loses that game that bad then they will be pressing the entire season. I understand that realistically speaking, they will probably be on the outside looking in come playoff time but they actually have a reasonable path to 4 wins that would get them a playoff berth while having an overall losing season record.
  14. Why would Gulfport spend all that money to turf their practice field, but not Milner? I know that the high school is in Mississippi City and Milner isn't even close to the high school, but that still doesn't really make any sense.
  15. Vott, I ain't gonna fall for the bait from this apparent Laurel fan, but if you pop the popcorn I'll be there to eat some with you.
  16. Yeah y'all definitely got the shaft in 6A. I'm excited for y'all to make the trip to Picayune on October 21st. Hopefully we'll have some nice fall weather by then. I remember freezing my butt off in 2002 in Lucedale when we lost to y'all in the playoffs. That was a very cold night that night, but a great football game nonetheless.
  17. I'm sure they have with their weather reports, but back in 2003 & 2004 when Picayune was in Region 3-5A, the coverage was extremely scant on the sports end. Has WLOX done a good job within the last 10 years of covering Pearl River County? Sure they have, but back then (the 2003-2004 range) we probably had more WDAM & WLBT coverage once the regular season started. It's all good though and I understand your point.
  18. I tend to think that Wayne County and Hattiesburg will be better than #8 Brookhaven by the end of the regular season/start of the playoffs. But yeah, there is a definite log jam in region 3-5A for sure.
  19. Based off of your score prediction here, does that mean that PRC has officially cooked their goose before the season has even started? I realize that they are a young team with a 14 year old 9th grader starting at QB, but since they run the ball a good bit do you think that Hancock's defense will wear down PRC's offensive line early on in the game? In my eyes that's the only way I can see your score prediction coming into fruition. Please let me hear your thoughts on this one. The way that PRC was scoring points at the end of last year leads me to believe they can score more than 7 points in a home opener. Do you see PRC struggling with putting together long sustained drives and finishing those drives with a score?
  20. I remember back in the day when Picayune wasn't a coast team. WLOX hardly covered the Maroon Tide, but since everything on the coast has been meh here of late they seem to want to cover the Maroon Tide quite a bit more, and I guess since we are in the coast region in 5A now they have to cover the Maroon Tide by default.
  21. A Jr. High program can be great, but there has to be an elevated level of coaching in order for that success to transition to the Varsity level. I don't think there's a problem at West Point in that regard. The county school where I live has a great Jr. High/Middle School football team, but because there isn't an elevated level of coaching once those kids reach the JV/Varsity level, there is a significant drop off in the win column.
  22. He revised the prediction in this game to Petal 38 Hattiesburg 34. @EnterpriseBulldogsFan tightened the line in this one, but also gave more points to both teams. I think @Vott & @Deonte3455 will beg to differ on both predictions LOL!
  23. I personally liked the pin that Jack Cristil used to wear. Do you know what the text on the pin said?
