Both teams better show up at least 4 days early to get acclimated to the time change, but yeah that will make for an intriguing college football game.
-
So does 5A North still run thru West Point this year, or will it run thru somewhere else? It'll be interesting to see who represents 5A North in Hattiesburg this year.
-
Well Picayune' s QB actually has a decent arm believe it or not. He's a left handed QB, but that will play to Picayune' s strength when they decide to throw the ball of course. The Picayune-Poplarville game should be a dandy regardless of point differential. If you want to see a clean, well-executed football game early on in the season, this is a game to go see.
-
Poplarville will play smart, disciplined football in this game, but they won't have the horses to keep up with the Maroon Tide. Picayune should be just fine at QB as long as he stays healthy. High Tide at 7:30!!! Man I've missed being able to say that LOL!
-
George Washington Carver High School in Picayune won like 64 games without a loss before integration. I would say that was pretty historical and that win streak record was held until South Panola went on their rampage back in the early to mid 2000s.

It's all good Deonte LOL! I feel like Major Payne with an itch and nothing to scratch LOL!
-
Probably some sort of an outhouse LOL!
-
Who has the best "Thunder & Lightning" running back tandem in 5A South? Running back tandem > quarterback port-a-jon
-
Well whoever it is that comes out of region 3-5A on top with a 1 seed heading into the playoffs probably deserves some sort of trophy in the shape of a dynamite stick since that team will have officially blown up the log jam LOL!
-
It's all good Merlin and I think Florence might be a fish out of water in 5A. Hopefully they'll get some reprieve next year. Now I'm going to ask a little bit deeper question. Who is going to be the dynamite to blow up the log jam in region 3-5A?
-
Taylorsville is 29-6 all time vs. Enterprise Clarke and has an 11 game win streak against them. The last time they lost to Enterprise Clarke was 2007. Where are you getting your information from?
-
Would you throw Florence into the group with South Jones and Forest Hill, or are they caught up in the log jam?
-
Well with the law of averages, I think Mississippi State is due a win over Alabama sometime within the next 30 years LOL!
-
It's time to bump up this topic and get it back on track. What is the log jam looking like in region 3-5A before the season starts?
-
I don't think car rental companies play high school football LOL!
-
Well yesterday was a big day for Mississippi State. Mike Leach has definitely transformed the quarterback room in a very good way. I feel like we have a good problem on our hands if that makes sense. I honestly believe that he will have a team to beat Alabama during his coaching tenure at Mississippi State.

Why did Todd Breland shoot himself in the foot by going to South Jones? He never had a losing season while at Laurel and last year was his first losing season ever. Is he waiting for another school to come scoop him up? -
The PRC-East Central game this year occurs at East Central on September 30th. PRC will need to flush whatever happens to them against Picayune, the week before, out of their system very quickly. Whatever outcome happens during this game will probably separate the top four from the bottom four in region 4-5A
-
RoadDawg99 - I'm certainly not going to discredit your prediction, but if you want to get even bolder than that, then go ahead and move PRC up to 4th. West Harrison, East Central, Vancleave & Long Beach should all be beatable opponents for the Blue Devils. If PRC loses to any of those 4 opponents then obviously they will be on the outside looking in.
-
Well that's probably understood, but being down 35-21 to Oxford late in the 4th quarter in the 2013 5A State Championship game was a pretty tough situation as well and he excelled there pretty good. In other words, never count out Russell Mitchell.
-
Thanks for your reply Dawg83, and I certainly appreciate your posts on here. Hopefully we can attain 8 wins during the regular season and win the bowl game this year. If we can get to 9 wins this year there will be a definite on-the-field improvement.
-
I'm interested in the headaches that Russell Mitchell is going to give you in region 2-6A. He may be in rebuilding mode right now, but watch out. He can still give you a headache win or lose.
-
Dawg83 - You seem to have a good bit of insight into Mississippi State. Where do you think the Bulldogs will improve the most this year and will those improvements equate to more wins?
-
At least Hattiesburg can say they have a true historical rival with a trophy to play for. There's not a whole lot of teams that can say that.
-
By having Pearl River Central at 7th, finishing just ahead of West Harrison does that mean Jacob Owen's days as head coach at PRC are numbered or do you think they should finish higher than that? I think if you put Pearl River Central at 5th and Long Beach at 7th it would make more sense.
