  1. Picayune is actually 12-0 vs. Gautier. The AHSFHS website on Picayune's page skips 2017, but if you go to Gautier's page it picks up that game.
  2. Hattiesburg is definitely playing like a totally different team now. A switch got flipped right after non-region play and they have been lights out for sure.
  3. Well Gulfport scored 33 on y'all and they only scored 7 on us, so you can clearly see who has the better defense there, but I think Ocean Springs is a great 6A school this year. Do y'all have the horses to beat Tupelo? I realize that question is a slippery slope, but the Golden Wave is real good this year.
  4. Yes David that is correct. I guess I should have been more specific. Mancuso made adjustments at halftime and virtually shut us down offensively. It was just too little too late at that point because the damage had already been done. That win against Mancuso’s bunch keeps looking better and better. They may be 3A, but they certainly don’t play like it. I mean there’s a pile of 6A teams they could beat.
  5. Now the best offensive team that we have played that has been outstanding offensively after we had played them has been Poplarville. They just didn’t have the horses against our defense, but if you look at them now they appear to be unstoppable.
  6. I honestly think the best defense Picayune has faced thus far was probably Jefferson Davis County. As far as offense goes I’ll have to chew on that thought for a while.
  7. In the title of this thread shouldn’t the word runner be plural?
  8. One other thing here. This is the type of game where you’ll see the scheduling of tough non-region opponents pay dividends.
  9. I like our chances at home in this one. As long as we can play a clean football game then I think we will do just fine. Our defense has been superb so far and I don’t see any major shakeups there. I think they will be up to the task at shutting down Kaden Irving.
  10. Well as long as we are on the winning side of the shootout like we were in 2020, I can live with the results.
  11. I did a double take with that as well LOL!
  12. Vott, do you play an integral part of the Hattiesburg Tiger home basketball festivities?
  13. Great post Gator22. No one is overlooking Gautier I can assure you, but this Maroon Tide football team is quite a thing of beauty. Will Picayune get challenged Thursday night? Absolutely, but I don't see how they will come up on the short end of the stick in this one. Even if Gautier were to lose Thursday night, hope is not lost at all. Y'all still get in the playoffs just like us and you will still be able to control your own destiny at that point. In other words, we will probably see y'all again back in Picayune. The dining scene in Picayune is not that extravagant, but we do have some good places to eat though. If you need some recommendations for Thursday, just shoot me a PM.
  14. Well even if they do, we will have to take care of them in the first round. If y'all take care of business and put a thumping on Laurel and Florence consumes that last diabetic cupcake then everything that could possibly have been done to keep Laurel out of the playoffs has been done at that point.
  15. Vott, you mustn't have doubts. Y'all will beat Laurel. Just go get the damn jug.
  16. The year that Clarksdale played us for the state title in 1986, their only loss up to that point was to South Panola by 6. I guess South Panola must be the perpetual regular season thorn in the flesh for Clarksdale LOL!
  17. Clarksdale's only loss was to South Panola by a touchdown. There's no shame in that either.
  18. So we need Hattiesburg to beat Laurel by more than 12 points. Consider it done.
  19. What’s completely odd about this is Wikipedia had him as Auburn’s AD yesterday and I guess someone re-edited it today and put him back as Mississippi State’s AD. Did someone put the cart before the horse?
  20. Understood there. Those things happen, but yeah having only one loss by one point to a team that’s two classifications bigger than you are is not a disappointment by a long shot.
  21. That West Point win for them probably looks a whole lot better now.
  22. Excellent point there. Can they overnight the trophy to Poplarville?
  23. PROJECT A MATCHUP neutral field [2022] Poplarville (MS) 24, [2022] Louisville (MS) 19
  24. No one is denying the fact that Louisville will be the favorite in 4A North this year. That school has a proud tradition and a long history of championship winning football. With that being said, this is the year that Poplarville gets their 1st State Championship. I know we will agree to disagree, but I have my reasons and I will stand by them. Louisville will probably be in Hattiesburg again this year, but this year they’ll have a long drive home.
  25. That’s a quick no. And I don’t think there will be much of a challenge there from the North either. Poplarville has that “it” factor this year.
