How does George County get back to doing what they did when Al Jones was their coach? If they can get that figured out, I think you'll have a juggernaut of a program that they were used to around there again. I remember when Picayune used to play George County back in the day and that was always a slobberknocker of a game. I'd like to see that George County team again.
-
I completely understand your point there. Hopefully George County can get that issue fixed sooner rather than later. It's a shame that it ends up coming down to that, but honestly what else can it be? The cupboard can't be bare in George County because they are the only school that can take from it and it's getting replenished so yeah everything just circles back to your point there.

I don’t know if Picayune has ever had a true adversarial rival so to speak, but if there ever was one it was definitely Moss Point. That used to be a game back in the (not so long ago) day. There was never any love lost when those two teams met on the gridiron.

And that’s the thing that absolutely boggles my mind. They’ve always had studs over there in Lucedale. I’ve always wondered how they grew boys so big over there in George County. I guess they get a lot of corn over there being in Eubanks Farms HQ and also right there by Baldwin County with the Silver King. It’s hard for me to wrap my head around why they are having an abysmal season when literally everything is right there in front of them to be successful.

Having that Henleyfield sponsorship must’ve pushed things over the top. I don’t know how you keep outdoing yourself Slick, but man this week’s post sent chills down my back. These polls just keep getting better and better. Telling you “great job” doesn’t feel like that is even remotely sufficient, but this stuff you’ve been posting is absolutely superior. Thank you for the effort you put into this.

Cal Prep top 5 5A game, East Central vs. Picayune this Friday

Is this the same person? If so, just stick with one profile. -
If this is the case, this is quite the shake-up. I wasn't expecting Picayune to be 6A next year, but hey it is what it is at this point. I think we will have to schedule some tougher non-region opponents to make the schedule a reduced fat Little Debbie cake.
-
Yes there’s only a handful of teams that they have overall winning records against and some of those teams might even be defunct at this point.
-
Interesting line of thought there Vott. They went from winning 3 straight district championships to being at 0-7 this year. I remember when a win at Dantzler Stadium was a big deal. They must have either lost everyone from last year’s team or they got hit with a bad injury bug.
-
I understand completely in regards to how things are in region 4, not too much excitement, but when you start to talk about next year and those teams being in 6A that's a totally different line of thought there. I think PRC will struggle having to move up in classification, but they can't fudge their numbers to avoid it.
-
So if George County loses to PRC and they have to leave town, where will they go? That sounds like a great big logistical challenge. I think things will be easier in that case for all parties involved if George County wins, don't you think?
-
I'm definitely not trying to patronize anybody. I realize this game doesn't deserve a thread, but I am just curious to see if George County can put things together enough for a win. It'll be interesting to see how this game plays out. Seeing George County sitting at 0-6 is probably something nobody envisioned before the season started.

With PRC coming off a big win over Long Beach and George County suffering a tough setback vs. Vancleave, who wins this game? This game probably doesn't have any playoff implications tied to it, but it definitely has importance in regards to morale. This could be a close ball game or it could be a blowout. Who needs this win more? I think after Friday we'll have an answer. I think George County can win this game if they can piece together a good game plan, but PRC will be looking to keep the momentum going in Lucedale after a big (and probably unexpected) win over Long Beach. If anybody has any thoughts on this game, please feel free to post them. If not, then kindly disregard this thread.

I think the general consensus is that Enterprise is the favorite and that's fine. You said that Clarkdale would be toast if the Enterprise team that beat Quitman & Morton shows up. If that is what you are thinking will happen, then you just took a round about way of saying Enterprise will win. Maybe Clarkdale will play with a chip on their shoulder since they are considered the underdog in this one and give you a game that'll give you your money's worth. I realize that the Enterprise/Clarkdale series has been totally dominated by Enterprise, but how often have you played Clarkdale where you both have identical 6-1 records and in a game that carries some serious postseason weight to it. Go Bulldogs!

It appears to be some sort of an online sporting goods store, kind of like a Hibbett or something like that.
-
Wow! That definitely doesn’t make any sense. The football and baseball fields are in Clarke County and the softball field is in Lauderdale County. Everything outside the foul pole on the first base line of the baseball field is in Lauderdale County as well. If I lived a block from Clarkdale in Clarke County I would be raising some cane at a school board meeting somewhere until that mess got resolved. Everybody who lives in the Clarkdale community regardless of whether they live in either county should be able to attend Clarkdale without any stipulations whatsoever.

Oh I don’t worry about them at all. I just try to shed some light on the idiocracy that these pollsters come up with. All they focus on is wins and losses and previous historical trends to come up with them. If they were to look at how teams are currently performing and who they’ve played, these polls would look like something that makes sense to us.
-
I completely understand.
-
Poplarville & Jefferson Davis County should be #1 in 4A & 3A respectively. Both of those teams will be a tough out come playoff time and they will probably both be playing in December.
-
There is definitely a 100% chance that the Bulldogs will win!
-
Well if you can't judge by just one game then doesn't Clarkdale have a sporting chance on Friday night? You've got to take your Enterprise blinders off and look at the bigger picture. Did Clarkdale want to lose to Morton Friday night? Did Enterprise want to lose to Union Friday night? I don't think either team wanted to lose and now they face off with identical records. This game could go either way and Clarkdale should have a reason to play an inspired brand of football Friday night.
-
So what's up with Clarkdale being in two counties? Do both counties (Clarke & Lauderdale) support the school? I find that very interesting how the county line splits the school directly in half. You could have a friend in a class on the opposite wing of the school and be in a totally different county.

I'm assuming you are talking about Will Rogers, Mississippi State's quarterback. I think Mike Leach is starting to realize that a successful running attack helps the passing game. He doesn't need 200 yards rushing per game, but if State can get 4-6 yards per carry then that opens up the passing game. The OL has done an outstanding job the last two games. They just need to keep it up. Another thing, Rogers doesn't need a lot of time for a play to develop if he can get his passes out quickly on short and accurate routes. Take what the defense gives you and let that be sufficient. The long pass plays are what take time to develop which require the offensive line to hold up longer. If we can get a few of those per game, great. If not, 5-8 yards per play will get you in the endzone as well and eat up clock. If we can control time of possession then I like our chances.

Yes I agree we need to beat Kentucky this week. I also understand we have been historically bad against Alabama, but I feel like if we had played them Saturday that we would have beaten them. We are better than Texas A&M and they almost pulled off the upset. I also understand we will play a 100% healthy Alabama team in two weeks. If Alabama has any vulnerabilities then we will need to exploit them and capitalize on them in order to keep the game competitive. With this veteran team that we have I feel like we will play better against Alabama this year. I honestly have no idea when Mike Leach will beat Alabama, but it will take some unconventional thinking and game planning in order to do so. Mike Leach checks that box and that is why he got hired. Mississippi State & Mike Leach have always had to do more with less and that won't change anytime soon or ever, but he has the ability to do so. If we take care of Kentucky this week, then the Alabama game has the potential to be a special game (win or lose) if we go in there and play a good football game.
-
You ain't lying. State would have mauled Alabama on Saturday, but we'll wind up getting a 100% healthy Alabama team in two weeks. I just hope State can keep it close and competitive.
