If our pitching can hold up this weekend and our offense and fielding can get just a tad bit better, then a sweep this weekend is very doable. If State can exceed the expectations and go 5-1 over the next two weekends and get the two wins at Tennessee, then that will set things up nicely going into the Arkansas and LSU series. State just can't let their foot off of the gas pedal at any point.

State obviously doesn't have any room for any error, but if you can sweep Auburn, Tennessee, and A&M, then get a win against LSU and a win against Arkansas, then you'll be sitting at 16-14 in conference play and yes you would probably be close to a lock for an NCAA tournament berth. But like you said if we can win those series, it may be enough without the sweeps, but I think a sweep or two would definitely help matters for sure.

Dawgs win again! Great win!
-
I will say this though. I think we saw the game reward Dakota Jordan last night and that was a good thing to see.
-
I honestly don’t think it would have mattered. What Bianco decides or doesn’t decide to do shouldn’t be our concern. Let that be @rebmus ‘s problem LOL!

State won the game today in cardiac fashion, but when the bases got loaded and Dakota Jordan was up to bat I had this gut feeling he was going to get a hit to win the ballgame and boy did he ever! Great win today, but tomorrow is another day and probably the most crucial game. There’s no way of knowing what is going to happen tomorrow, but the momentum obviously needs to get passed onto Jurrangelo. I just hope he can give us a quality start.

Hattiesburg vs. West Jones is already etched in stone for the 3-6A district championship this year LOL!
-
Case in point: One letter can make a huge geographical difference.

It’s in Murray, Kentucky. Meridian will definitely be racking up the travel points on this trip LOL!

Who was the main target and why weren't they able to get him?
-
If a pitcher has control issues, what is the common sense thing to do? You go get him, but I've noticed that the coaches will not do that for some reason or another in our losses. Instead of trying to stop the bleeding and contain the damage they just let things spiral out of control until there's no chance at a comeback. I realize the coaches aren't out there playing the game, but they can certainly use their intuition and make a call before things get completely out of hand.
-
I think Brian Ford is the main target for them, but nothing is official yet. Hopefully we will hear something sooner rather than later.
-
Jeff Brantley was good because he was a seasoned veteran in '85. Jurrangelo will get there, but it will take time.
-
I think that's probably a great strategy there. He's just a true freshman and they've definitely put a lot on his shoulders. He definitely has a chance to be a remarkable pitcher, but like you said he's got to get confidence and he's got to get older.
-
Does Jurrangelo pitch this weekend and if so, does he bounce back from last weekend? I think they need to let him do his thing if he pitches and not just keep him confined to one arm.
-
I completely understand where you are coming from. I just think if State manages to squeak in this year, that they actually need to put forth some effort there and try to win a game, or two, or three.

If you know of some smaller 1A & 2A schools that have some good coaches on their staff, then go ahead and post them. I mean 4 coaches isn't a bad thing and they probably are a better coach anyway because they have to take on more responsibilities. Even if you've just got a head coach and an assistant or two with some volunteer coaches, then that counts and their hard work needs to be recognized. I'm sure the folks in Lumberton are proud of the coaches they have there.

I don't think winning back to back state titles occurs by accident. As far as staffs go, you won't find a more consistent staff than at Picayune. When Lorenzo and Ty left after the 2019 season to go help Seth at the River as defensive coaches, I thought there would be a void there, but putting Seth at D.C. might have been an improvement. He was a running back at PRC in high school and was definitely an offensive guy, but he's done remarkably well as D.C.

If State does make it to Hoover, I just hope that they show up and play some baseball and not go home after two games.
-
Has anything been finalized here?
-
I honestly don’t see a sweep in play either way next weekend. I think it’ll be a 2 out of 3 weekend, and yes the team that goes 1-2 will definitely be between a rock and a hard place.
-
I’m not an Ole Miss fan, but I’m sure these losses are frustrating.
-
Why do we continue to have pitching meltdowns? A 5 run hole will be tough to climb out of.
-
Yes that’s definitely a tough loss. I hate to see this happen there. Hopefully they can get someone in who can do some good there. Carroll County is so underrated in my book. We know some folks up there and they are some of the finest people you will ever meet.

I love beating the big red elephants. State just needs another win between tomorrow and Sunday. Heck, I’ll take a sweep as well. Who cares if I’m getting greedy LOL!
