I think we all knew Laurel would be in the mix fighting for this thing even as bad as their record is. Even if they win tonight, they'll still have an overall losing record. Being district champs with a losing record is absolutely mind boggling to me, but that's the world we live in now. Gautier won't have that coast home cooking in this one, but for the sake of sanity they need to win this one.

He'll get it. That'll be quite an accomplishment and he's one of the best in Mississippi to ever do it. Kudos to Coach Boyles - he's earned it.

If we can’t be happy about our football team, then at least let us be happy about our uniforms. The script State/reincarnated Croom uniforms have been just horrible. The script state helmet looked good last year as a one off, but it’s absolutely nauseating to look at with it being the permanent attire.

If we go down, might as well look good doing so.

Don't worry I don't feel disappointed. I know we played like crap those last 3 years wearing that uniform, but man did you see what the field is going to look like this weekend? I just want to make the uniforms and field design permanent. I'll live with the results because I've lived with them before.

How will Hattiesburg's defense fair against West Jones' offense? If West Jones can effectively move the ball and score on pretty much every possession it won't matter what Hattiesburg can do offensively. But this is also something that's easier said than done.

Crazy as this sounds, you will need some imperfection in the way that these two teams oppose each other in order to get a victor.

Also it wouldn't surprise me one bit if this game tomorrow night isn't won in regulation. If you've got heart problems, this is not the game to attend or watch or listen to.

If this was a playoff game, I don't think anybody would pick Hattiesburg to win it (they would have to pull the upset), but with this being a regular season game at D.I. Patrick, it just seems to line up for a Hattiesburg win. West Jones is more than capable of beating Hattiesburg tomorrow night and it could very well happen. Hattiesburg is going to have to play a great football game to win it tomorrow night and there's no question about that. It should be a great football game regardless of outcome.

When I say put the nails in the coffin, that doesn't mean an empty coffin. Just thought I'd clarify that.

I ain't gonna lie about this. I voted for Grenada, but honestly it could go either way. I fully expect South Panola to win a game against Grenada, but something is telling me that it won't be this one. Regardless of how this one plays out it should be a fantastic ballgame to go see. It's too bad I can't teleport to the north half of the state to watch this one in person Thursday night.

good point there. I would think Stone would be favored over East Central, but who knows at this point. If Wayne County doesn't beat Vancleave they might as well put the nails in the coffin.

It's going to be a dang shame if State loses to Kentucky wearing the interlock. Regardless if State gets the ball to start the game or if they get it to start the second half, they need to play with some inspired emotion. The way State was playing on Saturday was literally putting me to sleep.

That's an interesting line of thought. It just makes you wonder who you would have lost because Leach would have still had his QB's that entered the portal. I reckon it would be a receiving room overhaul.

That should be right. North Pike beat Provine and Provine has to play Florence this week. North Pike has to play South Jones this week. As long as Florence beats Provine and North Pike beats South Jones, then North Pike is the four seed. I don't see any reason for that to change. It looks like Wayne County will have to travel to Florence in the first round.

Here's my thoughts on this game without really knowing anything about either team: 1. This won't be the only time these two teams face off. 2. I strongly feel like these two teams will split the results when they face off again. (One team will win the regular season bout and the other will win the playoff bout). With all of this being said, I'm leaning towards Grenada winning the regular season game and South Panola winning the game that matters. That line of thought could be way off, but it's difficult to beat a team twice. This is the game that South Panola can afford to lose if that makes sense.

Interesting take. Grenada only lost to Winona by the score of 32-26 (6 points) so they were right there and Winona ain't no slouch. There was no shame in losing to Winona.

I saw that man (Dr. Joe Paul) standing down on the court yesterday before the game. I recognized the face, but that's who it was. They just had two tiny scoreboards that gave the score, the time and # of fouls for each team.
