I almost hope terry can beat George county because west players might get a bit more hyped to prove themselves vs terry. They felt a bit unfulfilled after that game 4 weeks ago.

West Point/Holmes county winner probably wins this. Laurel could get hot and takes it but I doubt it. They got no heart.

Kept hearing of Hattiesburg’s best in state d line. West destroyed them. West had 4 runs I think it was over 44 yards. A 50 yard td. A 62 yard td. A almost 70 yard run from the 8 in which Hattiesburg’s vaunted d end was laid out. West had 382 yards rushing.

Hattiesburg pulled kids off field didn’t even shake wests hand.

He was 24-24 and took them to their only 2 playoff births in 20 years. Former state champ winning head coaches have gone to sj and done terrible. They havnt really had any sustained success since 87.

I thought he was an assistant a year or two under boyles at wc. Guess I heard wrong.

No one ever wins big at South Jones. Doesn’t matter who it is. In the last 30 years they made the playoffs 5 times, I believe he was the only coach to do it twice. He has their only 2 winning seasons in the 20 years. That’s already not bad being there. It’s something a former state championship winning head coach couldn’t do. He went to petal under Marcus boyles and left when boyles did. He has rings being an assistant u see boyles at Wayne county and I think he was at oak grove for their last ring. So he has experience on several big time winning programs. But if we want to talk about a coach not winning big games I seem to recall Hattiesburg not winning big twice with extremely loaded teams with multiple d1 kids on the roster.

I have faith in my mustangs, but not enough to believe they will score every possession. I do believe Hattiesburg may indeed have the best defense west has played this year. And I recognize west played like arse vs terry. 4 times in redzone and no points? But I think west learned from that and aren’t taking things for granted, like perceived superiority, since then. I know before this season wested had 4 games circled. Laurel, poplarville, jackson prep, Hattiesburg. They played their best all around game vs poplarville. Then the next week that game vs prep. Then followed with terry who the expected to slaughter in the last day of school before fall break and a bye week. The result was what it was. West been practicing a day or two a week for this game since the terry game (can do that when you know your two opponents in middle are no threat) And people on Facebook giving them billboard material. The players feel disrespected. They are pissed. And if the qb can hit a few passes to keep Hattiesburg honest I think west wins by 2 scores. 24-14

I am trying to figure out how those people on Facebook can believe that since west struggled vs terry and Hattiesburg beat them that that means Hattiesburg will score 30+ on wests defense. I doubt Hattiesburg’s offense breaks 20. Only way the do that is defensive scores or getting turnovers deep in wj territory. but then again I had to avoid that Facebook group last year because there are some morons over there. At least some of the garbage lessened a bit when laurel and mendenhall got proved to be frauds this year and their fans went silent.

I don’t see Hattiesburg scoring more than 14 against wests starting defense. What will decide this game is if west offense plays like they did vs poplarville and Jackson prep shows up, or if wests offense vs terry shows up. If the P’ville/prep west offense shows up west can score 21-28 against Hattiesburg. If the terry offense shows up then west may not score. And it’s not like west didn’t move the ball vs terry, they were inside the terry 15 3 times first 4 drives and turned the ball over 2 times on downs and threw interception on the 2 the other. The last couple weeks since the terry game west been practicing their passing game trying to work out some things. Unfortunately for Forrest Hill and PRC they were scheduled scrimmage partners.

Laurel melting down. they can still get it together to run to state in 5A. So could Wayne. Or literally anyone on 5A south playoffs. It’s going to be tournament of who wants to suck less. I never thought I would see both Wayne and laurel like this in same year. it’s glorious.

I bet the laurel guy that does the streaming of their games is loosing his mind
