You’re right. I’m giving them a little credit. But meridian, stone county, east central, vancleave and Wayne county may all be tossup games. If somehow laurel missed the playoffs there will be riots in the streets. And I’m not a drinker , but I would totally crack open a cold beer and grab a lawn chair to watch it if it happened.

South Jones: while I do think if they had admin support and kept some family’s hands out of the program while keeping a good coach (current west jones coach Cory Reynolds and Todd breland were both doomed by this) they could be very competitive in 5A south. To the point of being a top 2-3 team in it. Go look at who they beat to be 2-0 right now.

I don’t trust Hattiesburg’s offense enough. As for Laurel. I have said it since the end of last year when all their fans started talking that they will win state. They lost 3-4 on both sides of the ball and it was the most important pieces on both sides. They are not as good as last year. That offense is garbage. The o line is big but weak and slow. The qb isn’t all that accurate, not that it matters he gets no time to throw. I would not be surprised it they only win 4 this year.

Watch for northeast jones as the year progresses.

West jones comes out from halftime with 4-5 backups on defense and lets nej drive the field and score. On kickoff it’s a Squibb kick that no one from west touches nej gets it on the Wj 38

Laurel just sucks. They did last year. Their fans put on blinders when they won the last regular season game then won till state. But they were 4-6 before that streak. They lost qb, rb, half the o line, entire d line. But they thought they would be good because they got south jones qb to transfer. And I could rant for days about their attempts the last 3-4 years go get kids from all the jones county schools to transfer. They succeeded with the dandy dozen o line that should be at west jones. They wont make it to state this year.

Northeast Jones had a bomb pass down to the west jones 2-3. On 3rd down after 2 failed qb sneaks they try to sneak down left side of the line and dude gets drilled and fumbled. West returns it to nej 7

Im thinking with that one Jackson school closing and the kids splitting between Forrest Hill and Jim Hill those two may move up. Jim Hill I think is 5A. Also hearing northeast jones may be on the cusp of moving to 5A.

WJ had 421 yards rushing on 44 attempts.

I think it was in practice cause I saw a video of their jamboree and he was not dressed out but on sidelines with arm in a sling.

Poplarville 4 star 10th grade RB did not play due to injury. Or that game may not have been that close.
