Heidelberg is outsized and out athleted bad.

Someone on the Facebook group said west points entire defense returns just the offense looses a lot. And Clarksdale also brings back a lot. I don’t think it matters what Holmes Co Central returns as they can win in the playoffs.

The peewee teams have been good for a while. Did have a few undefeated in a row winning some league they joined. But not all those kids are in the laurel school district. But they have been good then they get parents and such filling their heads with it and they start to think they win just by showing up. Then some of those parents and so called “coaches” of various pewee teams and such try to tell the high school coaches how to do things. Also Laurel superintendent a few years ago cut bay for sports assistants and flat told the head coaches to cut staff down (big part of why Todd breland left) and this is what’s left. I know some younger kids that should be in the Laurel school district moved out to northeast jones during the summer. The guys from Laurel that stream their games said multiple times this year that half of wests jones team should be at Laurel. Which is false, only 1 player on that team went to a Laurel Elementary and moved to west in 8th grade. The players they claim should be at Laurel ironically went to Sharon elementary, which is a jones county school that up until a few years ago whites went to west blacks to northeast (to keep minority percentages at the schools at a certain point. Something done since segregation and only ended 5-6 years ago). But never have they lived in laurel school district zone. At any rate. High school level coaching staff being partially undermined and also flight of people trying to get out of the city limits is taking a few athletes away from laurel bit by bit. But their fans don’t see any of this.

Is it more ideal for south teams to travel north 2 out of every 3 years? Ideally a nice 15,000-30,000 seat stadium would exist in the Flowood/Pearl/Brandon area that could host the games.

I think about half the starters. But to hear them tell it they 9th grade went undefeated for the 15th year in a row so they will just reload.

Great. Give laurel fans more to complain about. They already been swearing since 2016 they lost cause of the rain. This team will lose because they aren’t that good and they only got this far cause Picayune, West Jones, and Hattiesburg went to 6A and what is left of 5A south is horrible.

This games over. Laurel kids were great in pewee going undefeated s few years. Got adults telling them Angie great they are and how many titles they win in high school. And they believe it. They come into games expecting to win by just being there. As soon as they are hit in the moth and get down by a couple scores, or if a team keeps up scoring with them and it gets mid/late 3rd they start to come unglued. They will give up. Can see it in the body language. And the coaches aren’t able to coach them through it. With West Point having 2 score lead at half of laurel doesn’t score first possession, or if they do West Point comes right back and scores, Laurel will go full on meltdown. Unforced errors. Kids not hustling every play. Some playing disinterested.

Looking forward to Laurel getting crushed.

Corey reynolds is not leaving west jones for petal. Petal didn’t want him before and he is only being mentioned now due to the success he has had at west jones this year. Better fan support at west jones plus there’s rumors of facility upgrades coming across all athletics in the 3 jones county high schools.

Probably an assistant

They are huge on the D line and O line. But mostly just big bodies. They can be pushed around. They have done kids with speed at wr if the qb hits them in the hands. He can be erratic at times, especially if under pressure. Their running game relies on their speed to the edges, if your d ends can get a couple yards in backfield quick then they stall. Qb will panic under pressure and scramble then throw wild pass on run. Their defense backfield hood speed and go got knees to tackle. They don’t like getting hit in the mouth. Hit them for a big play or two early they struggle all game. If they get a lead they get more motivated. They tend to collapse mid 3rd. If they are down even if it’s close you will see their body language change. Even the play calling on offense they suddenly start trying to force things.

No more broken dreams for vott please. He’s had too many of those with Hattiesburg football the last few years. It’s ok Vott. West Jones and Oak grove and potentially, but less likely, Laurel will have more golden balls added to their trophy cases to let you guys look at.

Hangover or not the only way it stays in check is if west does stupid things or turns the ball over. They had 2 kick return td’s and a turnover return td to open up 20 point lead on south pAnola early. South pAnola outscored them the rest of the way but not enough to erase the deficit.

Don’t be surprised if West Jones has a running clock vs Grenada 2nd half. And if not they should still win handily. I honestly think WJ scores 42+ and Grenada doesn’t break 10 until after WJ puts in the backups.

I don’t know if 05 would have won it. But 03 for sure was capable. 02 I think would have if we had coach Pierson a year earlier so this kids had an extra year in his system. 04 was good enough to win it if not for jimmy johns @brookhaven. 2009 and 10 could have got there (2010 not getting there is biggest choke job in Wj football history) but I’m not sure they beat those West Point teams. 2018 was 3 plays away from it. 2019 was good enough but picayune came in pissed from us beating them in 18 and outplayed the crap out of us. 2021 and 22 were good enough but a slew of injuries late and some questionable coaching decisions doomed them.

West Jones May have a running clock in 2nd half vs Grenada. It will be similar to the Hattiesburg and picayune games.
