I posted in another thread west would lose 5-6 starters on defense this year. I was wrong. It’s more like 9 or 10. West defense will take step back next year. Offense returns both rb’s, qb, 2 wr’s, 2 o line with a 3rd that was in and out of starting lineup all year. west starting defense gave up 6 to laurel, 6 to Jackson prep, 7 to Hattiesburg, 7 to Hancock, 7 to picayune. And there could be a * next to the points by prep and hattiesburg.

WJ 10th grade rb had 9 rushes for 208 yards. Last year against picayune as a sophomore he fumbled a couple times, one on long run just before half that would have put west in scoring position. His tendency to fumble last year is why Wj coaches decided to abandon run for the 2nd half last year.

Thanks sir. I was hopeful for a win but by no means did I expect this result. I was thinking 17-14 type game this game was very similar to our Hattiesburg game. If west stays focused this week prepping for Grenada I think we similarly whoop them.

These two will be playing each other for south state more often than not in new 6A.

WJ wins 42-13 over picayune.

A safety, a corner, 2 lb, 2 d line. So about half. Will be a little drop off on defense.

And most of wests offense returns. Lose 2-3 o line that’s it.

West Jones/Picayune game looks like the West Jones/Hattiesburg game. West was scoring fast.

I really don’t want Laurel to make it to state. Especially if we can’t. Drives me bonkers that if MHSAA had of remained at 6 classes Laurel would have been probably 4th in district and neither them nor Gautier would even still be in the playoffs. And West Jones and Picayune playing for south 5A would be the de facto state championship. But mostly I really don’t like Laurel and don’t want them to have any success.

There is a west fan that will live stream on Facebook. Usually shows up on that ms high school sports Facebook page.

He tried 2 from 48. One way short. Other bad the distance but wide left. He hits from 52 with no tee in practice and warmups. But in game he’s missed most his attempts this year and I don’t think he made one over 30 yards. Issues with punt returns, field goals and no passing game worth mentioning has me very worried.

WJ kicker isn’t very good. On kickoffs, sure. But missed way more fg’s than made this year I bet.

I’m WJ through and through but I honestly don’t think our passing game is as good as it needs to be to keep Picayunes defense honest. Chris Davis bring unavailable for picayune May change things a bit. Also, don’t start that week schedule stuff. Laurel won district and playing for 5A south state with a real good shot to win it. Poplarville won district playing for 4A south state. Jackson Prep avenged 1 of their 3 losses beating MRA in playoffs and playing for MAIS State title against Hartfield who also beat them earlier. Picayune beating Brandon gets props but ocean springs did coast football things and tapped out early in playoffs showing they weren’t really ready. Gulfport likewise probably no better than Hattiesburg. Picayunes division mates no better than wests. Picayune has a slight advantage in schedule difficulty early on in season but that doesn’t matter at all at this point. I think it comes down to turnovers and coaching. West tends to stall its own drives trying to throw when there is no need. If they just line up and run, like vs Hattiesburg and at moments vs Terry last night, they eventually start breaking big ones.

have you told me all year? Because until the last 2/3 weeks I don’t recall mentioning George county. But I don’t call a defense that only held 4 opponents bellow 20 points all year a good defense.
