Did they mark a L before this game was even played? Yeah. There is a lot of ya-ya going on with their fans about that. Apparently these kids left school to go to the barber to get their hair cut. Something they do every Friday when their classes are over and return before the football team meets up to leave for away games or have pre-game meetings or whatever. And for some reason or another the coach benched them because they missed something. Can't get a straight answer on it. Doubt I will either. They are making it out to be political. Regardless. If Laurel can manage to beat them next week, then Wayne County, may end some of their trash talking for this season.

People forget how young we really are we have 20 new starters, very few seniors, this group plays mostly freshman, sophomores and juniors. Before Coach Hankins freshman rarely played varsity unless you were Jerrell Powe or Drexler Johnson. This staff has done a good job of keeping their focus but we definitely take the one at a time approach. We’re not good enough to take anyone lightly Edited October 3, 2021 by Wareaglefan1us

The wild card is Brookhaven. Is Laurel not as strong as anticipated or is Brookhaven better than their record indicates? The Hattiesburg-Brookhaven game is now bigger than what is was expected to be. Lose this one with still WJ WC and Hattiesburg still coming up their playoff hopes take a major hit with a loss this week

Since Hburg hasn't played at Brookhaven since the 1980s, are you saying suspect officiating happens over there?

Merlin
And I have seen some home cooking over in Waynesboro as well. I'm sure picayune fans remember 2006 fairly well. For that matter, can throw Laurel into that conversation. And any time a pine belt school is down playing on the coast.

Man I'm not going to deny that but it's spotty. In Brookhaven you can count on about a quarter of it if you start getting the upper hand. If you can maintain control they will back off but if Brookhaven seizes momentum on some of their calls the refs will be right there for them the whole game. The one place that I can say we have always gotten a fair shake was in PIcayune. I've never felt railroaded there. Yeah, it's vice versa for a coast school playing in the Pine Belt.

Dude, GC had 20 penalties at WC out of 27 total. Had a KO return TD called back. Ok that's fine. Call every single one. But let's not be so one sided. Every time something good happened there was for sure a holding penalty to bring it back.
Wareaglefan1us
You get a little home cooking everywhere. When WC plays Laurel, WJ, they get it from the Jones county association refs. Ironically the Jones county Refs also call our games. When we go to Hattiesburg, OG, Petal it’s the Hattiesburg association. But that’s all part of football and the adversity you have to over come. Yes I’ve seen questionable calls go our way at home. But the officials for the most part do a good job. I’m sure they would tell any of us to put on the strips if we can do better. Merlin
Oh wow. West jones coach doesn’t typically try to run the score up on anyone and will start subbing with a 20 pint lead or more at the half. But do not be surprised if they hang 70-80 on south jones tonight. Some ticked off people right now.
