Ok well maybe I have overstepped on Gautier lol. Y’all got some good points on them. I like that offense though. And I don’t think Wayne county has been getting lucky either. You can’t fluke those two wins with the kids they got. You don’t come back from quarantine with a new coach, new offense and win games like they have under those scenarios.

Gautier has probably the best offense in that region. No doubt about that. However, they have probably a bottom 3 defense. Teams like George County, Picayune, East Central and even Vancleave (to an extent) can hurt them by playing keep away. Getting them off rhythm and forcing them to have to score every possession which puts a ton of pressure on an offense. Also, from a head coaching perspective I do not have much faith in them. High has had a playoff caliber team his 4 years there and has came up with nothing. He is a really great man and truly loves the kids in that community, but he has underachieved (like the last 4 Gautier football coaches). Gautier's chance to make some serious noise is now or never. They have their stud QB and WRs for the next 2 years. Significant drop off in that department once they are gone. I still George County is the team to beat with Picayune, Gautier, and East Central (in no order) after them.

Is east central better than they were last year?

Gautier will struggle to make the playoffs.  Irving is a very good high school QB but, as another member stated, their coaching will betray them and the defense is marshmallow soft.

Add to that, they have no running game so the better defensive coaches will scheme them and slow that attack down.

Don’t be deceived by the pre region scores, Provine is garbage and Pascagoula has one of the poorer coached defenses in 6A.

Offensively, no. They lost their QB early on and it just is not the same show without him in it. They are still tough and physical, but he added another element with his option game. Defensively, they do a solid job. They just struggle in the secondary not being as athletic as other teams. They are going to be a tough out for anyone though regardless.

Just heard that Laurel will be hosting some team from Mobile tonight. Apparently Florence forfeited due to covid19.

The source is the umpire of a local crew, so it's a pretty good source.

Theodore, Daphne, and St Paul's have open dates on their schedules for tonight - is it one of them?

Frigging west jones is infuriating at times.  The offense will like near unstoppable a drive or two in a row then suddenly they look like northeast jones and can’t get out their own way.  Snap over qb head.  Snap between his legs.  Bumbled handoff.  3 wide open receivers in endzone on 3 seperate plays trying to catch pass for it to bounce out of their hands when they pull it in to body.

Low t offense baby, WC can spread you out or bunch up tight and make you guess who's getting the ball.  I don't know how far these kids can carry this but is sure is fun to watch, If you throw it much against our defense it will be coming back the other way soon.

Gautier lost to George County

Good win for Hattiesburg send Natchez to losers bracket

Sounds like last year where the talent made up for the mishaps.

I looked on maxpreps. Laurel played a team called Minor in Adamsville, AL. Before the game their record was 0-4, I don’t know how tough their Alabama opponents were but from the looks of it their opponents in the losses they seemed to be quality opponents from outside looking in. I think it may have been a good win for Laurel. Florence forfeit puts them at 1-0 in the region also.

Denote, our run game right now is pretty good. Dillon Brown runs hard weathersby can fly and T Wade may be a top rb in state by his senior year

Yup. We knew about twade last year. He could have played all last year as a freshman. You see a lot of players he’s that one kid that his presence is felt anytime he’s on the field. He will be a dandy dozen before long. Dillon brown played great last year every time he had an opportunity to touch the ball it was a big play. Our passing game isn’t our strength but it can be. Have to keep chopping at the bit. The win last night was a huge one and I mean huge. Can’t overlook south Jones or any of the next 3. But right now we are in great position.

I really don’t know how good we are right  now Vott. I can tell you this our coaching is on par with any one right now. That’s why I’m saving my gas money for them games downs the stretch. Week in week out is going to be some of the best matchups and more on the line than anywhere in the state.

Deonte, I’m going to make a bold prediction myself. Gautier will lose to both George County and Picayune. They got no defense and if you can’t get stops against either of them they will run you out of the stadium

Hey Slick. if youre a Facebook guy, I urge you to get on the Mississippi high school football sports page if youre not already.

I hate that page and love it. God bless 99% of it is the most ignorant bs I’ve ever seen.

Thats why I love it, because of the ignorant BS of people. For example Hattiesburg beats Natchez last week and then the next morning their fans are calling out West Jones this week saying they are gonna beat them. lol
