laurel returns I think 7 starters on defense including the entire line.  They did lose all the skill position players on offense.  
 

But yes, I agree.  If natchez is to get in the playoffs like some are saying it will be over laurel.

Where did the expectation of excellence and level of consistency go? The coaches I have talked to seem to still expect that.

Why should anyone have been brought in from the outside? You sound like someone with an axe to grind. Did you have another coach you felt should have gotten the job?

Could you please explain the politics we need to get rid of?

 

Now in my opinion going 8-3 in his 1st season doesn't seem to bad to me, I actually  think the team overachieved a little. I really didn't think we were that good a team. Not bad but nowhere near as good as a lot of other years. I don't think this will be a great team either but the next few years after we should be loaded.

Not really. With the addition of George County and East Central it will still be a tough district. The top 4 will compete the bottom 4 will struggle in my humble opinion. Only time will tell and hopefully this damn covid doesn't impact anyone.

Region 4 lost Hattiesburg, Wayne County and Pascagoula. Replaced them with George County, West Harrison and Vancleave. It definitely is far less competitive and will be until reclassification in 2 seasons. 
 

George County is a great team and is my pick to win the region actually. However, the other two are far less talented and will be in the running for bottom 3 in my opinion

To be clear I do not believe the district is as strong from top to bottom as it was in previous years.

Let me first start off by saying welcome to MST PMT95.  I also don’t have any ill will towards Cody Stogner.  The only thing I did was express my opinion on a message board.  I would love to be completely wrong with my opinion, but I’m glad I stirred the pot LOL!  You are more than welcome to PM me and I’ll try to answer all of your questions as best as I can.

All the Natchez bandwagoners get in here, They lost to 3A Hazelhurst the other night.

Hattiesburg should get their first win this Friday  night  against them or it could put them on the outside looking in for the postseason

I will admit when I was wrong. Coach Stog has changed my heart. However, I still think Natchez/ Hattiesburg is about evenly matched.

My confidence in Hattiesburg is higher than it’s been all season. But supposedly Natchez is the “real deal” with all these athletes they have and a 290 pound dl at qb. We’ll see.
 

On the other hand I got one bold prediction I want to make and that is I think Gautier will either finish the season undefeated or finish out #1 in region 4.

Come on Deonte, Gautier ain't going undefeated in regular season. Lol. I am encouraged by what I saw from HHS last week. That non region schedule is about to pay off. Gotta get off to a 1-0 region start

The only team I know of in our region who is as good or better than the 4 non region games we had is West Jones. But Wayne Co seems to be getting back to the Wayne Co of the glory days. Glad that we have them both on the back end of region play.

I really don’t know how good we are right  now Vott. I can tell you this our coaching is on par with any one right now. That’s why I’m saving my gas money for them games downs the stretch. Week in week out is going to be some of the best matchups and more on the line than anywhere in the state.

 

Deonte, I’m going to make a bold prediction myself. Gautier will lose to both George County and Picayune. They got no defense and if you can’t get stops against either of them they will run you out of the stadium

SJ @ WC    South had trouble stopping NEJ wing-T. That's not good facing a faster more physical WC team. WC 35 SJ 17

Laurel @ FLorence.  Laurel only played 1 game, and it was ugly vs Mendenhall, lots of turnovers. Mendenhall still pretty

                                     good team though. I think Laurel cleans that up and wins. Laurel 38 Florence 20.

Natchez @ Hattiesburg.  Natchez offense can be dangerous, but generally not as good on defense.  Hattiesburg by 10.

Brookhaven @ WJ     This will be lot tougher than Wingfield last week. I think the WJ defense will be the difference.

                                     WJ 28  Brookhaven 13.

Gautier has probably the best offense in that region. No doubt about that. However, they have probably a bottom 3 defense. Teams like George County, Picayune, East Central and even Vancleave (to an extent) can hurt them by playing keep away. Getting them off rhythm and forcing them to have to score every possession which puts a ton of pressure on an offense. Also, from a head coaching perspective I do not have much faith in them. High has had a playoff caliber team his 4 years there and has came up with nothing. He is a really great man and truly loves the kids in that community, but he has underachieved (like the last 4 Gautier football coaches). Gautier's chance to make some serious noise is now or never. They have their stud QB and WRs for the next 2 years. Significant drop off in that department once they are gone. I still George County is the team to beat with Picayune, Gautier, and East Central (in no order) after them.

Right now WC 9th and 10th graders seem to be ahead of the HHS 9th and 10th graders and with all that youth for both teams getting thrown to the wolves they will most certainly be loaded by their junior and senior seasons.

I'm glad to hear that. I don't know why so many people thought Picayune was in a downhill spiral. I said it before, this Picayune team is not our best but they will be fine. They are young but have some talent. 3-1 against some quality non district opponents will help them mature. The next couple of years they should be able to play with anyone. Coach Stog will be fine also. I can't believe one self proclaimed "fan" would whine about a botched hire and a possible losing season and then hide. Shows what a fan he really is.

I think Laurel is still out with quarantine issues. Florence may be 1-0 and Laurel 0-1 in region play. Not sure though. Can anyone confirm whether they are playing tomorrow night?

I hope Hattiesburg stomps a mud hole into natchez arse.  They have no defense really to speak of. And I saw some vids of them vs hazelhurst and natchez lines were getting wrecked. Overall the team seemed lacking in the strength department and poorly coached.  The only thing they can do is have the ability throw deep to that wr and him just outrun everyone to the ball cause he’s fast as hell.
