Chunky6617
When do the new numbers get turned in? I’m hearing our school (Mize) should turn in somewhere close to 190.

Rebel Bert
I had Mize at 192 earlier this year.
Rebel Bert
His June 25th podcast says the forms are going out early September for the August and September attendance numbers. I will assume it has to be in by October 1 with the sports the school will play next year. I am not sure but maybe they get an average since not all schools start the same day. Rebel Bert
MHSAA Executive and Legislative Meeting October 3rd at 9 AM. Surely preliminary numbers will be in or on the table.

Jim Hill and Forest Hill are both 6A currently, but Jim Hill went independent so they don't participate in Region 3-6A. Had they not went independent, that is where they would have been this year. pancho
will Jim Hill remain independent the next 2 years? We wish we knew exactly what the 2A,3A and 4A numbers were going to be for the north. there is potentially going to be movement in classes as well as regions which has some squirming. You can ask that same question about Murrah too. Who knows? There's usually some sort of movement with teams either moving up or down, but who shifts around is a mystery at this point. Rebel Bert
It's going to be interesting in all 7 classes. I would take the bottom 10 in each class and say those schools can move up or down.

You can read previous articles I posted on potential numbers for 1A thru 4A . Those numbers are based on 2023-24 school year. Now PCS is not included. 3A will change slightly. NE Jones and Sumrall I believe will be 5A. I think Jim Hill and Forest Hill will both remain 6A unless 1 gets like 60% of the Wingfield kids vs 40%. Rebel Bert
I took a sneak peek at JPS school feeder patterns. It appears Jim Hill got the better end of the deal. 1 middle school south of I-20 & west 55 south now feeds Jim Hill and those were the Wingfield kids. Jim Hill Aldo got the NW Middle school kids that you think would go to Lanier. So it appears NW kids have to bus across Blackburn Middle School lines to get to Jim Hill. Rebel Bert
1A: Sebastopol, Hamilton, Calhoun City, Richton move down.
Rebel Bert
3A: Shannon, Byhalia move down Pisgah, Raleigh, Collins, Scott Central move up, PCS moves in, St Andrew's and Union can move up but both are tied for 41st. 41st includes OLA as girls only. 1A Leflore County also moves down. 2A: Perry Central, Belmont, Enterprise Clarke, East Webster, Kemper County go down; Baldwin, Leland, East Marion, Leake County, Velma Jackson go up; Smithville goes up if 3A has 42 schools. 4A: Clarksdale, Gentry drop Mooreville, Rosa Fort, South Pike move up All above is based on 2023-24 numbers
maroontide06
@Rebel Bert do you anticipate any shifting with 7A & 6A? Great job with 1A-5A.

I have been told it is almost a lock that West Harrison moves up to 7A. Heard Hancock has a chance as well to go up. Also told St. Martin is one to keep an eye on to potentially drop.
