Bulldogs4
It was if Campbell was identifying as Kiffin last night.

The talking heads on ESPN this morning said Campbell had went for it all year, and was right. Well, all those times were not when a trip to the SB was on the line. Not only did it cost you 3 points each time, it gave SF the momentum.

Numbers tell you a lot of things but they don’t measure momentum. Detroit needed something to stop the bleeding and just didn’t.
Bulldogs4
You are up 24-10. Kicking the FG puts you up 17 points. That makes more sense. Yes the momentum of the game had swung to SF. But at that juncture, you would have matched their three and kept the lead at 17. It also did not help that a WR dropped two catchable passes in the third quarter which hurt Detroit badly. Detroit moved the ball well most of the night so in this particular game on the road, when you have the lead, take the points and keep the pressure on the other team. hasbeen67
I understand him being true to who he's been all year, but that last 4th down not taking points when he needed two scores - I don't know. Early in the game, it's fine. But late in the game it's different. The more time that is left, the more possible scenarios of what can occur there are. Dawg83
Chiefs win one of the best Super Bowls in recent memory. Mahomes, man. Didn’t think he had the pieces around him this year, and he won it all anyway. Huge shoutout to KC’s defense, though, they were excellent. Tough loss to swallow for the Niners. Feel like they missed their best chance early on and should’ve built a bigger lead before KC got it going.

Bulldogs4
Blocked EXP was big but SF had opportunities in the first half and third quarter to put some distance between themselves and KC but they failed to cash in. Agree with 83 that SF lost the game much earlier than the blocked PAT. Second game in a row that Chris Jones saved a TD being scored by putting pressure on the QB and forcing an errant pass. Both were also in late game crucial situations.

hasbeen67
If you're not up at least a couple scores near the end hard to beat Mahomes - just like Brady. The missed opportunities hurt SF. Edited February 12, 2024 by hasbeen67

Some could argue Jones should have been named the MVP last night. He definitely should be a lock for HOF.
