I will say this though Region 4 is pretty much shaking out like we all thought it would.  What happens on Friday will pretty much all but determine the final seeding in Region 4 for the playoffs.

Other things to keep an eye out for in a couple of weeks:

Region 1:  The South Panola - Grenada game

Region 3:  The West Jones - Hattiesburg game.

In Region 2 as long as Warren Central holds serve,  they’ll be the region 2 district champs.

I'd agree. Picayune can win the district outright Friday night. GC could as well IF they were to pull off the upset and IF West Harrison were to beat Goula. Still think Picayune and GC will be the top two seeds in the region. Picayune is so experienced and GC has been somewhat banged up with no bye week to recover with earlier in the year. I think it's going to be a good game. I think GC can make some plays against this team and I think they can actually win. It's going to take an absolute team effort to win but it can be done. I also look for this to be somewhat low scoring but I'm usually wrong when I say that. I'd say 28 points would be the high mark for either team IF there aren't a lot of turnovers. If GC turns the ball over like they have in the past then it's gonna be a long night. If they can keep the turnovers clean like last week then it could get interesting. The ball is oblong and bounces funny sometimes.

I am going with Picayune in this one. 35-21 type of game. George is much improved from last year, but I just do not trust their offensive line to execute for them offensively and the defense will have to get after it. They have allowed some points in games I felt they should not have, but sometimes that is high school football. I am expecting a showdown with Pascagoula next week for the 2 seed in that region.

I'm in the "Picayune by 2 to 3 scores" camp also. GC gave up 28 to Hancock and 34 to Hattiesburg. Not sure they have the

defense to hang with the Tide for 4 quarters. I take it that the GC QB is really good, but scoring quickly against Picayune is not beneficial.

All that does is put your defense back on the field quicker. Once your defense is gassed from the pounding, it's game over then.

Again, if what I say holds true, NO TURNOVERS, then this will be a game. The reason the defense has "given up" the points you speak of is there have been bad special teams play and turnovers that have directly led to points. For reference, the Biloxi game when GC started it's third string QB there was a pick 6, a blocked punt for a TD, and a bad snap/recovery on a punt that directly led to 3 TDs for Biloxi. The defense gave up 13 points in the game and the offense scored 14 and they also gave up right at 200 yards of total offense in that game so there are some misleading scores.

So, back to what I've said. If the Rebels can clean up the turnovers and play better on special teams (they've allowed 3-4 KOs for TDs this year) then it will be a game they can win. If they don't clean that up then it's going to be an awfully long night because Picayune is too good to give them extra opportunities.

Take this as you will, but Calpreps has Picayune winning this one 34-14.  I try not to put too much stock in a computer projection but that honestly sounds about right.  Picayune would have to lay one massive Hal Holmes sized egg in order to lose this one.  If Picayune keeps playing like they have been on the road, they won't lose this ballgame.  Not saying George County won't be tough because I firmly believe they will be and I think George County will fight hard for 4 quarters.  They've got a whole lot better team this year and you could see it coming together last year.  Picayune should be locked in and focused for this game.

I hope you are not comparing Picayune to Biloxi that is totally disrespecting Picayune's record and accomplishments in the last decade or more. It will be a bad mistake to hang your hat on that. It ishigh school football and things can and do happen.

Picayune won't need extra opportunities and takeaways to win this ballgame tomorrow night.  Picayune just needs to play good, clean Maroon Tide football.

I'm not. I was using the scores that someone else alluded to GC giving up and setting the record straight that the defense has given up a lot of points. That's a game that really sticks out on the radar. That's all my point was. Gonna be a tough game for GC but that was known before the season started. Only trying to point out that it will be a better game than in the past couple of years. Can GC win? Yes. Will they? We'll see.

A lot of things can happen in a game and when you have a really good QB and skill players it can make some things interesting.

Picayune secondary is very much improved.  They learn alot and made adjustments on the Secondary.  When U play Brandon,  Baton rouge Catholic,  Gulfport  and Ocean Springs which all of them throws the football.  So we have seen some good teams passing attack.  We will be ready tonight and that front line and Linebackers will get to Knight.

i sure was disappointed when i got to the game tonight and realized that #6 still wasnt back. he is a great rb and at least as good at cb. i was hoping he might get a few reps in on defense with the playoffs coming. Then  i saw #4 was not dressed out either. he has been so good filling in at rb and in pass coverage too when needed. and so #5 stepped in and did a great job carrying the ball for us though it meant he was not available to play db.

he really ran hard for us tonight, and then

in the 4th quarter, he went down too and had to join #6 and #4 on the sideline. so how did this team battling for a region championship respond? by shifting gear and taking over the game. they slid the best little linebacker on planet earth over to rb right in the middle of the 4th quarter and, of course, he took the ball 55 yd for a td on his first touch. And they held Deuce Knight and that potent george county offense to zero passing tds on the night. you gotta love the resilience of a team like that.

on a side note

i hope the officials all got flat tires on the way home and then got stuck in road construction for an hour and then ran out of gas and had to walk.

Good game Rebels.

Good game to Picayune. And Wayne Co fans getting on here complaining about officials is really rich considering you cant breathe a certain way in Waynesboro without a flag but that’s a different story for a different day.
GC fought hard. Knew it was gonna be a tough task. Couldn’t finish in the 4th quarter. Hats off to Picayune. Hopefully we’ll see a rematch. Great team as always.

I think you meant could not finish in the 2nd half, including the 3rd and 4th.

George County except for the 77 yard run by Knight in the second quarter and the 30 yard pass and blocked field all touchdown  wasn't really in the game. They didn't get but one first in the second half and that was roughing the passer call on 3rd and 10. They didn't get over 50 yards the second half.  Yes #5 stepped up and carried the ball 40 times for 305 yards and a couple scores. Picayune rush for a little over 500 yards. Hats off to the Defense for a tremendous good game and Also the Offensive lines. #7 is the field general on offense and #29 is tge field general on Defense.
