mout25
I see I was wrong about this game because I thought OG would win by 2 TD’s. I haven’t watched any highlights of this game. What did both teams do schematically that won/lost the game?

I believe if they were breaking rules MAIS would step in MAIS administration will not step in. They are enjoying the attention GCS is bringing. However, many MAIS schools/coaches are pissed the way this is being handled. MAIS leadership has always not been consistent on enforcing rules and I’m afraid if they don’t get a handle on recruiting NOW, then you will see schools split and form a new league with better leadership.

ogwarriorbandman
I could hire a team in Hattiesburg area and it would be the other way around. So there you go…
Dubaction
We somewhat got outcoached which is what I didn’t expect. We pretty much gave GCS the middle of the field by doubling up on Bell all night who still had a good game. But the game could have went either way. OG had several chances in the 4th quarter to win it. It was ultimately a great game between two of the best teams in the state.
NoWammies
My junior year of basketball my team and I were put out of the state tournament by two three star Australian “foreign exchange student” transfers at Central Private so I feel y’all pain Oak Grove fans. The MAIS didn’t care then and still won’t about GCS. Edited September 18, 2021 by NoWammies
ccbulldog
GCS had a linebacker (#45) the could play for Miss. St today. He hit Oak Grove players like a ton of bricks.

So there you go… You would have to go farther than Hattiesburg. That would basically be a merger between Hattiesburg and Oak Grove with a couple PCS kids sprinkled in between. It would be a good team but there would probably still be better teams out there.
ccbulldog
If they got players from all over the Delta then Oak Grove should be able to get players from all over the Pine Belt including Hattiesburg, Petal and all the Jones County teams. Then you got a fair fight.
HammerDown74
I love how many people are butt hurt over this. Nobody was complaining when MRA was getting kids left and right or when JA was getting kids. Just because it’s not a “name brand” private school doesn’t mean they’re doing anything other schools haven’t done.
ogwarriorbandman
With all that hypothetical fun, there is always a better team, a better player I don’t care how good you think you may be. We had our chances to win the game. They made a few more plays than we did. I do believe with another game or two under our belt it’s a different game. We have not played anyone this year to prepare for this physical of a game. Besides, you need to get that tail whipped every now to make you want it more. We will rebound next week at Warren Central. OG just should have let this be a debate and not play game. 1
Dubaction
As an actual OG fan I’m glad the game was played. We asked several 6A schools for this game and they said no.

There’s a big difference if say a giant industry moved in bringing more families in from other places and just going around loading up football players and bringing them to a school ?. I could get used to families moving in because of my first statement but it probably wouldn’t feel the same though.Look I know most of these kids fathers ,grandfathers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts and everyone in the communities. All the former players who paved the way.Saw them grow up as I grow older. My family goes to church with their families. I knew Ronnie Green whose son played the Friday after he passed. I grieved for him and his mother. I remember Greg Miller who tragically passed way too young a few years ago. We all grieve together. That’s what high school football is to me. Like I said I would just give it up if I couldn’t have that. How are you going to change match that with a bunch of hired guns ? I’ll answer it for you, you’re not and any titles that you may pound your chest about will be offset by a hollow feeling that it wasn’t really complete because the spirit of sportsmanship at that level had been compromised

I don’t have a dog in this fight at all. Yes it’s in a rules violation in their bylaws. You’re right they will not step in because of the attention it draws. But those very one’s you’re saying are pissed have been breaking those same rules for decades. Granted they don’t bring in an entire team. pancho
What does this say about the public school systems when kids want to travel 90 plus miles one way simply to go to school? I've been told that each of the players said they absolutely loved going to school there and didn't want to return to their previous school once they were exposed to something different. pancho
My point is that the kids obviously prefer the GCS over their previous public school. What is different or better for these kids?

Many Delta public schools are among the worst in the state, because many of them get little tax money due to the fact that they are in sparsely populated areas in very poor parts of Mississippi. Most Delta private schools are considerably better than most Delta public schools.

Add that with a team that has only lost one contributor and you have a team that is simply too big and too loaded. Greenville Christian doesn't have the size or the star power.
