Your reading it wrong:

Higher seed host round 1

2 seed goes to 1 seed in round 2

3 seed host 1 seed in round 2

4 seed host 2 seed in round

If I am not mistaken and it's rare that a 3 seed has the opportunity to host a 4 seed.

Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A

1. First and second round – higher seed hosts.

2. Third round – If both teams have played an equal number of home matches the home site will be determined by the highest seeded team. If equally seeded teams play and #2 cannot determine a home site, the LOWER number of opponent’s region for the season will be the home team.

3. North/South Championships – highest seed hosts. If equally seeded teams, the LOWER numbered region will host.

4. State Championships South team will be home.

If that's the case then a 3 seed gets to host 3rd and 4th round except when playing their regions 1 and 2 seed.

That is the way it has been for years. I guess if the 3 or 4 seed makes it through the first two rounds they get rewarded. I recall Wayne County being a 4 seed and hosting 3rd round and south state. The only change that has been made is the north/south state rule

Years ago the 3 seed hosted the 1 seed in round 2. I remember Purvis beating South Pike as a 3 or 4 seed and hosted Raleigh back in I mid 2000s.

Yeah back then it was all about the number of away games you had played not the seeding. I can see pros and cons to both ways of doing it. I think it makes the regular season more meaningful if the higher seeds host, but it can also make a region that was terrible have home field advantage over a region that has 3 state championship contenders in it.

Thanks for reminding Ballizlife22. There are no easy roads this year. Look at Charleston's body of work with its heavy Sophomore/Junior roster.

No prob man. Hard to look past a team like Charleston who went through the hardest schedule in 2A at 7-2. There’s not a team in 2A who would’ve beat Ripley and Winona who are combined 18-0. Plus y’all have 2 wins over 5A teams and that Clarksdale win is looking better each week.

Raleigh got the easiest road to south state. Blowouts first 3 games, then another win against Bay Springs. And nobody north can play with us. Bay Springs will be our state champ game.

I don't know who Ballizlife22 is, but I am 99% sure he isn't from Raleigh. He is almost certainly a fan (or possibly coach) from Mize. Go back and look at his post history. He doesn't begin posting at all until a couple of weeks before the Raleigh/Mize game. Then all he does that entire week is just completely bash the Mize team and talk about how bad Raleigh is going to beat them. He is someone from Mize trying to manufacture bulletin board material. If he was truly from Raleigh, after all the trash he talked all week long, he would have been on here bragging after Raleigh and Mize played back on September 15th. Instead, he doesn't log back in for almost a month.  It is very obvious. Now that is almost playoff time, he is getting started back up. Please don't fall for it. Ballizlife22 is NOT from Raleigh.

Raleigh will put BELT TO A** to whoever from the north. Bay Springs only team might can give us a game and that’s not much a game either

I like you, no matter how misguided your comments can be. Teams have a gauntlet to get through to get to Ole Miss in December.

Good luck to whomever your team is.

Charleston, Union and Calhoun have all been very good this year.  I think Charleston has the edge but that is murderers row.

I know it’s cliche but I think homefield advantage will be huge with those three teams. Originally being from the Delta I know how hard it is to win in the playoffs at Charleston and got to see firsthand how hard it is to win at the Boneyard.

Support in the stands can be the 12th man. When Charleston is playing at home against Non-Delta teams, other Delta fans show up and lend support. Either way the atmosphere is quite electric in the Tiger Den regardless to which team you support.

Officiating has never been a deciding factor at Charleston, (positive or negative). The players usually respond well to being in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t exactly underestimate what the north has this year. IMG_4215.thumb.jpeg.fa623afbc655b75d6a6f6380c903e60a.jpeg

I think who ever comes out of the North will have a harder road. Don't underestimate both Raleigh and Bay Springs. You will struggle against their defense. It may just be a 20--12 or 24--21 games in Oxford.
