I think Heidelberg beats Collins and I think they actually beat them pretty soundly. I was much more impressed with Heidelberg than Collins. They are very similar in a lot of ways, but Heidelberg plays harder and gives more effort from what I saw. The issue with Collins, at least from what I saw in their game against Mize, is that their players play both offense and defense like most all other smaller schools. And they pass the ball so many times that their WR’s are gassed when it comes time to play defense and they use their time on defense to take breaks. They give much more effort when they are on offense than they do while on defense. I think Heidelberg actually makes a statement and beats Collins kind of soundly 35-14. Collins will beat Puckett in round 1 of the playoffs though.

No they won't touch Puckett if they can't stop the run.

They aren’t spectacular against the run. But they aren’t bad against it either. Puckett has played two teams with an actual pulse all season… really maybe only one. And that’s as Raleigh. The next best team they have played is Bogue Chitto and they lost that game too. If collins beats them, I won’t consider that to be an upset. Collins is better, but Collins also can play down to their opponent.

If the Puckett line outplays Collins it may be a long night. Raleigh just ran over them. They may match up well with Collins if the running back is rolling.

They lost to Bogue Chitto dude. And Raleigh led 47-12 at halftime. Collins is better than Puckett. Those are the only two teams they have played they don’t have a losing record, and Bogue Chitto is 4-4 and trying to avoid being the 4 seed in their region next week. The rest of their opponents have an average record of 2-7. They won’t make it past the 1st round unless collins just doesn’t show up. But Collins is prone to have games where that happens.

I think Raleigh and Loyd Star are the only teams in their districts that make it out of the 1st round.

If so Round 2:

Bay Springs at Heidelberg

Loyd Star at Collins

Raleigh at Lake

Mize at Scott Central

Round 3

Collins at Bay Springs

Scott Central at Raleigh

Isn't Loyd Star playing Lake in the 1st Round?

2A south playoff goin to be fun to watch.  No big difference in a lot of teams.

They beat Scott Central and Clarkdale beats Newton it gets ugly because all 3 will be 1-1. Scott Central +8

Lake -7

Clarkdale -1

Lake wins by 8 and they get the 2 seed, 3 Scott Central, 4 Clarkdale

or it goes to points against Bay Springs which all 3 are -12.

So 8 points can swing the seeds

Region 6:

1 Raleigh

2 Puckett

3 Pelahatchie

(4) St Andrew's

Nothing changes if Raleigh and Puckett or if Pelahatchie and Puckett both win

If and a big IF Pelahatchie and Pisgah both win

(1) Pelahatchie

(2) Raleigh

(3) Puckett

(4) St Andrew's

Pelahatchie has to win by 12 or nothing changes and then I think (1) Raleigh on points vs St Andrew's;

Raleigh +12

Puckett +12

Pelahatchie+7

Tie is broken giving (3) Pelahatchie

(1) Raleigh beating (2) Puckett

Mize would be at home against Scott Central, not on the road.

Personally I think  Mize can struggle against St Andrew's big lineman and 6 ft 5 receivers if passes are on target. And your right u will play Scott Central at Home and at Raleigh in round 3.

Points against bay springs has nothing to do with it.

MHSAA changed the home and away rules; higher seed gets home field in first 2 rounds, unless I am reading it wrong.

Your reading it wrong:

Higher seed host round 1

2 seed goes to 1 seed in round 2

3 seed host 1 seed in round 2

4 seed host 2 seed in round

If I am not mistaken and it's rare that a 3 seed has the opportunity to host a 4 seed.
