Early South 2A Bracket

I really don’t know who has the hardest route cuz with those five teams that have been mentioned in the north/south, there’s still teams like Mize, Heidelberg, Leflore County and NorthSide plus a couple others that makes both sides very tough come playoff time. Like @Chunky6617said couple weeks ago, this is the most competitive 2A has been in a long time. Also I don’t think any north team is underestimating Raleigh and Bay Springs since that’s all they’ve read and heard about all year.

Man everybody know JDC coach don’t play all there players in games like that. I’m done talking. We will take care of Bay Springs again at south state game.

MHSAA will not release official brackets for 4A-1A until late Friday early Saturday after everyone has played. So here is my unofficial South 2 A Bracket:

When Union gives up 18 to Philly tells me they have defensive issues just to get out of the north. I will say probably between Charleston and North Side.

I haven’t watched it yet but going to in the morning so not exactly sure how they got the 18. However it is the 2nd fewest points Philly has scored all year and they put up more against teams like Bay Springs, West Lauderdale and Kemper County. It did appear that Union shut them down after the 1Q. I think it’s more accurate to say Union won’t be able to get out to slow starts like that and expect to win once they get deep into the playoffs. 
 

ETA: Just read where two of the scoring drives started inside Union territory with one being at the 11 after a fumble.

Union has not been great defensively all season, but they score alot of points. I will say though, Philly jumped on them 18-0 In the first quarter and union shut them out the rest of the way.

I think Collins will beat Puckett, but Collins is playing their worst ball of the season at the absolute worse time. They played horrible against Richton last week, and they got the brakes beat off of them by Heidelberg. I could see a situation where they have give up on the season and lose to Puckett.

I think Lake beats Loyd Star too. That should be the only 4 seed over 1 seed upset.

I’m watching the game right now and Union practically tried to give the game to Philly in 1Q. So far in 1Q I’ve seen them fumble 3 times(1 lost), players indecisive on who catches the kickoff which was recovered by Philly at the 25 and multiple personal foul penalties on defense that pushed the ball deep into their own territory. They’ve had spurts this year where they look great then times like this where you scratch your head. Another example was the Lake game where they had to battle back from a slow start.

I only got to see the 2H of the Bay Springs/JDC game last night. I did read that JDC pulled their QB in the 2Q but that had nothing to do with Campbell sticking the dagger in on a long TD run when game was tied 20-20 and nothing to do with JDC giving up a long bomb on 3rd down trailing 26-20 to basically put the nail in the coffin with 5 mins left. Was very impressed with Bay Springs last night and especially the play of Campbell.
