pancho
will booneville be 4A by the time the 1.5 multiplier goes in?

I believe that would be 4A but then the multiplier kicked in. I think they stay 3A but their towards the top.

I expect the 1A and 2A divisions to change drastically in North.
Rebel Bert
I am predicting: before they're divided 3A North Region 1 - 7 or 8 schools Region 2 - 5 or 6 schools Region 3 - 3 schools Region 4 - 4 or 5 schools Sub total 19-21 schools 3A South Region 5 - 5 or 6 schools Region 6 - 6 or 7 schools Region 7 - 5 schools Region 8 - 3 or 4 schools It appears that Coahoma County, Winona, or Choctaw County will get stuck in Region 3. Also Amory and another school will be in Region 4 with Louisville and Noxubee. And Seminary, JDC, and maybe Magee go to Region 8, Raleigh to Region 5 pending what happens to Lake, Mendenhall, and Richland.

pancho
I totally forgot north tippah. I feel like this is shaping up to be the most movement the north part of the state has had since they began counting enrollment every 2 years.
Rebel Bert
1 hour ago, Coach said: What do you think regions 1 and 2 will look like? 1 Ripley, Booneville, Alcorn Central, North Tippah, Mantatchie 2 Kossuth, Byhalia, Independence, Rosa Fort, North Panola, Strayhorn 3 Yazoo County, Humphreys County, Coahoma County, O'Bannon 4 Amory, Nettleton, Louisville, Choctaw County, Winona The question i have is do you send Winona to Region 3 or Strayhorn. Then do you send Mantatchie to Region 4. Perhaps you send Kossuth to Region 1, Mantatchie to Region 4, and Winona to Region 3. Or do you send Yazoo County south and Union, Pisgah, or SE Lauderdale north.

Bottom 10 of 3A but if they are near 150 its close for Baldwyn. Belmont top 5 2A, borderline before the multiplier. Booneville 4A before the multiplier, 3A after the multiplier, top 5 3A. Nettleton is already in Region 4, Aberdeen will probably be 2A being replaced by Amory, then if Winona moves to Region 3 someone has to move in that being Mantatchie the closest or an I-20 school perhaps Union first. Rebel Bert
The multiplier will throw 1A away from the coast with Lumberton being the southern most. Consolidation may send the south or region 5 one direction or another. 2A will get Resurrection and change that class to some degree. ccbulldog
the sad truth is every 1A school probably needs to be consolidated into a bigger school. It's really not economically feasible to operate a school with so few students.

MSSportsGuy
As a native of Northeast MS, they are a section of the state that has resisted consolidation. Falkner and Walnut merging into North Tippah has been a civil war and they are only 8 miles apart with very similar student bodies. I agree there is a lot of school consolidation that "should" take place but local boards often don't want to make the tough calls for political reasons. Some of these small schools are due to being in separate districts and that's always been my bigger issue. Thrasher HS and Booneville HS are 5.5 miles apart but in different districts. Wheeler is 6 miles from Baldwyn but again, different districts. Hatley and Amory are about 5 miles apart as well but different districts. Unless district consolidation happens, there won't be any movement on those fronts. That's just a small sample, but indicative of a larger issue.
