The numbers they both turned in last October throws them back into top of 4A. I have Sumrall at 466 #3 4A and Purvis at 451 #5 4A last fall. So I will say they are borderline 5A/4A.

Everyone is exited to an extent their team is winning. If losing less excitement and less gate. Taylorsville brought appx 60 fans to Raleigh. Normally the sideline behind the fence is full G to G 4 or 5 deep and end zones 3 man deep.

any info on Tishomingo and New Albany?

I think the 1A split could be higher due to losing Falkner, Leake, LeFlore, Thrasher, etc. as Football Playing Schools.

 

Plus the multiplier will push some of the private/parochial schools from 1A to 2A.

True. Who else are the 1A private schools other than Tupelo Christian and resurrection.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see the state step in and force the consolidation of Mount Olive and Collins. If not this year then possibly in the next re-class. It’s badly needed.

not sure of current classification but the 10 private schools are french camp, TCPS, St Andrews, Piney Woods, Sacred Heart, Presbyterian Christian, St Patrick, resurrection, our lady academy and St Stan. each would have their totals multiplied by 1.5.

Things change of course but I truly don't see the state intervening in local school closures. Districts yes, and many are needed but not schools within the districts. 

 

Covington County only has one district already and while Mt. Olive and Collins consolidation may be needed, the board hasn't decided to pull the trigger for whatever reason.

 

Next year is an election year and I don't actually look for any monumental legislation period.

The form said they wanted the September enrollment. If schools are only reporting 15 days counting today September 21st then all numbers will be lower. That's different from the usual October date. Now they have until September 28th to make corrections. My educated guess tells me the numbers can change +/- starting Tuesday morning.  The question i have is do you run the risk by adding or subtracting by Monday the 28th of throwing yourself up a class or down a class.

The October numbers are the official numbers used for reclassification. I think the preliminary September numbers allows them to begin working on the classifications knowing that there will be some changes at the top and bottom of each class when the official MDE numbers  come in October.
