Petal likely to have running clock  vs OS from what I've seen of OS

Sadly, I worry that may happen. Hopefully we play a competitive game, but I am not confident.

Unfortunately I think it's gonna be awhile before they get a tally in the W column.

I'm sitting at the under right now on a 4 win season.

Don't be so disheartened.  Week 4 against us might be a "who sucks less" game.

Picayune is gonna be just fine. Last yr Oak Grove skulldrugged Hattiesburg 48-7. After that HHS reeled off 10 straight wins and made it to 6a championship. Just because you get thumped one game does not make you a bad team.  Now if JA goes in there and wins by like a 42-7 score it may raise eyebrows . But i expect Picayune to bounce back in a big way this week

It would be nice to bounce back.  Sometimes it's just hard to see the forest for the trees.

I’m going to throw this on here out of left field because I don’t want anyone to act surprised when it happens and not many people keep up with 1A football especially in North Mississippi but West Tallahatchie High School has a really good football team. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see the North come down to them, Calhoun, and Simmons. Just a team for some of you to keep an eye on up here. We will find out just how good they are in a few weeks when they play Charleston but a hot take in 1A North is West Tally.

With West Tally losing to West Bolivar tonight and Leflore County beating Simmons, I would say Leflore County is the team in 1A North to keep an eye on.

As far as small schools go, I think we will learn a lot about how much farther Taylorsville has went down based on how they perform against Bay Springs this Friday. Mize has a good team this year, but losing to them 56-6 is on another level. Bay Springs appears to be down this year as well after losing by 20 to South Pike. I think if Bay Springs wins this game by a 3-4 TD margin, it may be questioned if Taylorsville will be able to compete and win games in 1A this year.

Taylorsville graduated everything from last years team, they are young and will get better, how much better, i guess we'll see!

I agree. I think as long as they can get through this rough stretch healthy they will win a few games in district play. Possibly win the district as a whole. Them and Stringer should be a good game to open it up.

Leflore and Calhoun City I believe will decide 1A north. Simmons is still the pretty clear favorite in the south, although teams like Nanih Waiya and the winner of Region 8 (Taylorsville, Lumberton, or Stringer) could challenge them. Otherwise the classification is pretty weak as a whole.

Nanih Waiya has given up close

100 points in 2 games! They are not a threat unless something miraculous happens defensively.

They gave up 50 to Vardaman who was shut out by Bruce 42-0 tonight.

East Webster is one of the best teams in 2A. I do agree giving up that many points to Vardaman is concerning, but I believe they are still the favorite in their district and should make a run in the playoffs. Only team I could see challenging them maybe is Ethel unless Noxapater or Sebastopol is better than they appear to be.

East Webster is definitely the favorite in 2A north. Maybe Kemper County.
