I agree. I think as long as they can get through this rough stretch healthy they will win a few games in district play. Possibly win the district as a whole. Simmons is still the pretty clear favorite in the south, although teams like Nanih Waiya and the winner of Region 8 (Taylorsville, Lumberton, or Stringer) could challenge them. I do agree giving up that many points to Vardaman is concerning, but I believe they are still the favorite in their district and should make a run in the playoffs.
