West Jones at Laurel ----Another intriguing game but not for who gets the W.

I don't know anyone who thinks Laurel will win this game. With that said some things about it are interesting. It's Piersons first game back and we can get a glimpse of what unit he's planning on having  the games go through. He's also cleaning up the slop mamas boy left him. Who is playing the scapegoat role for Laurel. From what I understand he's been running his mouth too about this Friday.

Earnest and him got skull drug and looked really bad . I think this is Ryan's last season in Laurel and the guy that skull drug them last week will be the next coach. He's perfect for them.

About the game how long into it does Ltown give up and quit ? They are known for it

I say its close for the first half. Then WJ puts it to them in 2nd half. Funny things happen between the bricks though. Lol

WJ wins by 20. 
 

Scott Pierson isn’t one to run up the score intentionally and I expect him to take his foot off the gas if west has comfortable lead.  that in my opinion will be what keeps the score respectable. 
 

But I 110% think this is laurels least talented team in some few years. They graduated a lot of important pieces from last year and don’t have the athletes to fill the gaps. There have been seasons, like the last 3, where they honestly weren’t very good, but thanks to 5A south being what it is Laurel was able to piece together a couple a run to state game and a run to a second south state sandwiched around a 2 win season. This team won’t have the level of talent as any of those.

The one most recent I remember and its because I was listening on the radio coming home was when East central played at Laurel in a playoff game. East Central threw a hail mary on the last play of the game. The officials called pass interference to give them an untimed down at the 10yd line. EC attempted a FG and missed it.

 Yeah, Scott has never been one to try and hang 50 on a team, when the outcome is already known. If this one starts getting out of hand, you will see the 2nd string QB

and running back(s) pretty quickly. I'm anxious to see how the WJ defense looks. I think the offense will be good.

They did. The concerns I have for WJ going into this year are on the defense. Offense should be fine.

They didn't open the playbook vs Seminary at all.

I heard Laurel actually moved the ball pretty well last week but just turned it over. And WJ did just give up 21 in a half against seminary

They are no threat in 6A at all.   

 

the officials did give Laurel 2 2nd downs and 2 3rd downs with no flags or anything thrown  on drives that Laurel scored.  One would have stopped the drive. 
 

but wests defensive defense sucks balls.

 

Scott Pierson should have remained retired. .

Ughh. This win for laurel just mucks things up. Kinda like that patch of lawn grass that was missed. It doesn’t fit . You want to fix it .

That's a far cry from WJ winning by 20+ and Pierson taking his foot off the gas. Maybe the problem was bigger than Reynolds.

How west did not get the safety when Laurel, facing 1st and 20 from their 5, qb scrambled into endzone and looked to step out of the back of it, was touched by 3 west defenders, and somehow got them out to 15?  Then in second down hit to the original line.  Then in 3rd get 2 yards. Seemingly sending out punt unit then, not, because down market said “3” and bust open a 80 yard td on what should have been a punt.

Reynolds was a problem and needed to go before the 24 season. You dont do the things he was doing or saying to kids and keep your job. That’s all I’m saying about that,

Did yall go up 35-14 with about a minute left till halftime. Only to watch the other team score 4 td’s of over 70 yards in what looked to be the exact same play every time, untouched, cause your defender on that side was afraid of contact.
